Chapter 10: (I'd Do Anything For You)
Barbie Blank let out a quiet sigh from where she sat on top of a sink in the arena bathroom.
"Maryse you only have ten minutes left!"
"Kelly don't tell me that!" Maryse yelled back from the stall she was currently using.
"Yea, I know but don't you think you should hurry up the pace so your not late?"
"Kelly, I'm pregnant and I'm puking. It's called morning sickness...I really don't think I can hurry up the pace!"
"I don't think it's morning sickness, I think it's nerves for your meeting...which by the way is now in nine minutes." Kelly said as she looked at the clock on her cell phone.
Maryse let out a groan before going back to what she was previously doing. Two minutes later the redhead came out of the stall and walked towards the sink. She rolled her eyes once she noticed Kelly giving her a weird stare.
"What now?" Maryse asked as she washed her face with the cold water coming from the faucet.
"You have seven minutes." Kelly quietly replied.
"Get out!" Maryse yelled and pointed towards the door.
"Alright, I'm going! I'm going!" Kelly mumbled as she jumped off the sink. "I don't like you pregnant. You're more mean to me then before!"
With the brunette now gone Maryse looked at herself in the mirror. She was suddenly having a sense of Déjà Vu. This was a familiar scene just a few months before when she thought she was pregnant. Now here she was two months later, pregnant and maybe out of a job.
"Well Maryse this is the last time you can call yourself a WWE Diva." She mumbled to herself as she fixed the suit she was wearing. She had only worn a suit once in her life and that was when she had the meeting to sign her contract with the WWE. Maryse soon turned sideways to look at the small bump she now had. It wasn't huge but she was now showing.
"Great I'm the slut who got pregnant after a drunken one night stand. They are definitely not going to fire me now." She rolled her eyes.
The morning had only just begun but already it was going to be a bad day. She just knew it.
Her thoughts were put to the side though when the bathroom door started to open.
"Yes Kelly I know five more...John?"
"Oh, there's five more John's? I'm your favorite though, right?" John chuckled.
"What are you doing here?" Maryse asked as John soon dug his hands into his pocket jeans.
"Sorry, Kelly said it was alright if I came in here. Is that okay?" John nervously asked.
"No it's fine but um, it still doesn't explain why you're here." Maryse giggled. "It's eight in the morning, I was pretty sure Kelly and I would be the only ones here. Well besides Vince and everyone of course."
"I just wanted to wish you luck. I may not of known you for long but by now I know that you get nervous and need some reassurance."
"Not even the guy I'm marrying knows that." Maryse mumbled.
"Excuse me?"
"Oh, I said you know me well! But don't worry I'm fine." Maryse lied with a smile.
"And by now I know when you are lying." John chuckled.
"John I am fine. Don't worry." She nodded as John stared at her. Finally she gave in, "Alright I'm not fine! I'm freaking out. I'm going to loose my job in...four minutes now? I don't know but I'm sure Kelly will tell me."
"I knew it." John smirked as he walked towards her. He tucked a piece of her hair behind her ear that was in her face before he spoke again, "Look, I don't know what they are going to tell you in there but I'll tell you this in an hour from now I think you'll still have your job. They would be crazy to fire you over something like this. You are one of their top divas. The fans love you and you're still learning. You have what it takes to be the best. I mean your the sweetest girl I know, you have the dedication and passion for this business, and to top it all off you're beautiful." John smiled as Maryse blushed. "Don't be nervous. And just in case they do fire you, which would be a huge mistake, I promise I'll go in there and swanton bomb all their asses to hell."
Maryse giggled, "Promise?"
"I promise." John laughed as he pulled her in for a hug. Once they pulled apart their were faces were inches away from each other. John leaned forward...
"Maryse, you have two minutes!" Kelly yelled making Maryse and John jump away from one another. "Let's go! You don't want to be late!"
"Alright mother." Maryse mumbled as the three of them left the bathroom. Kelly didn't even notice she just killed a perfect moment.
"Thank you John." Maryse whispered once they were walking down the hallway.
"No problem." John whispered back. "I'd do anything for you."
"Alright enough with the chit-chat, we're here. Good luck Maryse!" Kelly said as she gave Maryse a bear hug. Maryse then hugged John, not wanting to let go, but was pulled away from Kelly. She gave the two one last smile before she went into the room for her meeting.
~X-O-X-O-X-O-X-O~
"She's been in there for over an hour now." John groaned as he paced back and forth in the hallway.
"John just sit down with us. Your freaking me out with the pacing." Ted, who had just recently arrived, said from where he was sitting on a crate.
"No kidding, I think he might murder someone." Kelly whispered to John she was sitting next to.
"I heard that." John mumbled still pacing. "Do you think she's getting fired?"
"Aren't you the one who told her she won't?" Kelly asked.
"Yes but how the hell do I know? Of course I'm not going to say to her face that I think she might be getting fired. Think before you speak Kelly!"
"Geesh, did everyone wake up on the wrong side of the bed today!" Kelly scoffed.
"Don't feel bad. He's just worried about Maryse." Ted whispered.
"Aw, someone cares about Maryse!" Kelly gushed. "It's about time a man cares about her, it's not like Mike-"
"I don't care about Maryse!" John cut her off. "I mean I do...cause she's carrying my child. That's all."
Kelly snickered, "I think someone likes her..."
"That's what Ted keeps saying. I don't like her...like that."
"Someones a little afraid to admit their feelings." Kelly said as if she was talking to a baby.
"Ted be a good brother and shut your girlfriend up." John scolded as he began to pace back and forth again.
Kelly had a huge smile on her face....until Ted spoke, "She's not my girlfriend John."
Ted was lucky not to be looking at Kelly, otherwise he would of seen the disgusted look on her face. Obviously they weren't a "couple" or whatever, all they've done was flirt and kiss. But it was the way he said it, like it would be the worse thing in the world.
"Do you think I should go in there? After all this is kind of my fault."
"I think that would only make things worse, John." Ted sighed. "It has been over an hour. I think she should be coming out soon."
What was said was true, within two more minutes of waiting soon Maryse came out of the room she had went in an hour ago.
"Maryse!"
"Hey..." Maryse said with a weary smile as Kelly ran up to hug her.
"What happen?" John was the one to ask the question.
"Um...well I got a long talk with Vince about how unprofessional it was for me not to tell them about the baby. It was basically a forty-five minute scolding-"
"Did they fire you?"
"No." Maryse shook her head. "They basically gave me a warning. I'm obviously taken out of the role of wrestling. Instead they are going to put me back in my old job as interviewer for a few months, until they get a storyline for me."
"Oh well, that's good-"
"Shut up Ted!" Kelly yelled and smacked the back of Ted's head. "That means I got fired!"
"Kelly..."
"Oh god now I have to go back home and I'll probably have to work at some McDonald's!"
"Kelly..."
"Then the bratty kids will throw their french fries at me and then-"
"Kelly, shut up!" Maryse yelled to finally get the frantic diva to be quiet. "You're not getting fired."
"...I'm not?" Kelly asked as Maryse responded by mouthing the word no. "Oh, but if you are now going to be the backstage interview, where does that leave me?"
"Well they said they were going to tell you but I'll do it now so you don't go all Michelle McCool on us." Maryse rolled her eyes. "Basically we're switching roles. I'll be a backstage interviewer and you'll be a full time wrestler."
"Oh...cool! I can do that."
John,Ted and the FrebchBlonde looked at each other all thinking the same thing.
"One..."
"Two..."
"Three..."
"Oh my god! I can't do that!"
"Ah, just on time!" Ted said as he looked at his invisible watch.
"Sure I've been training a lot lately but I don't think I'm ready!"
"I think she's gonna start hyperventilating." John whispered to Ted.
"What do we do?" Ted asked.
"Hey it's my job to take care of this one," He pointed towards Maryse whom was trying to calm the brunette down. "Kelly is all yours."
"Can we switch?"
"No way!"
Ted groaned, "Kelly it's going to be okay. You're becoming a great wrestler, with my help of course...not the point but the point is everyone sucks when wrestling their first real match. And you'll be no different."
"I suck?" Kelly cried in disbelief.
"No, that's not what I meant!"
"Wow, you're better in the reassurance department then he is." Maryse whispered to John.
"Yea, how about we leave them to it and maybe go see if the catering is open? I'm sure you're hungry."
"Wow, you do know a lot about me."
"Actually I was reading about pregnancy's on the Internet. It said that expectant mothers are always hungry since they're eating for two." John sheepishly smiled.
"Aw, you reading about pregnancy's?" Maryse cooed.
"Yea, well I just, um...wanted to know things so I can, um, help you out...and stuff."
"That is the sweetest thing I've ever heard." Maryse smiled as they stared at each other for a few moments. "Um, but yea let's get out of here. I've had to deal with way too many Kelly meltdowns, it's Ted's turn to deal with it."
"Agreed. You want a piggyback ride?" John offered.
"No way John! I'm starting to get fat, I'll crush you!"
"Maria you are not fat your pregnant. And plus I've had way more heaver people crush me...like Goldust."
"Hey, high-five! Me too, that's something we have in common!" Maryse giggled.
"Not funny." John chuckled. "But seriously get on my back."
After a few seconds of arguing Maryse finally agreed and got on his back, and wrapped her hands around his neck. It was a friendly gesture, but to anyone else it would look like they were a couple. Both of them were surprisingly comfortable with each other, which they had been like recently.
"So before Kelly had her meltdown, you said you're going to work as a interviewer until a new storyline happens, what do you mean by that?"
"Oh they are actually thinking about using this thing," Maryse took an arm off of John's neck and gently tapped at her stomach. "their words not mine, for a possible storyline in the future."
"So basically they are going to use our baby to make them money?"
"Yea, pretty much."
"That's horrible."
"I know but I really didn't feel like fighting them on it at the moment cause I'm just lucky they didn't fire me." Maryse shrugged her shoulders. "They said my actions are frowned upon."
"I'm sorry this is all my fault." John whispered.
"No, it's mainly my fault. I might of been drunk but I do remember some of the details that night." She whispered back. "Anyway, I just got a lot going on right now, so I'm just trying not to add more stress."
"What's going on? Are you okay? Is the baby okay?"
"Wow, you got the concern father act down good." Maryse giggled. "The baby is fine, I'm fine..."
"So what's the problem? Anything you need to tell me?"
"You know what I'm just tired and stuff...but nothing bad is going on. And no, there's nothing I need to tell you."
She silently cursed at herself for not telling them what Miz did but she just couldn't bring herself to tell him now. She would have to do it another time. She just needed something to eat which is good that they had just entered the catering area.
"Alright here we are." John said as he put Maryse down.
"Thank you." She gave him a smile and decided she would tell him later.
