It's that kinda time for the freshmen to know what their shop will be. At times it can he a happy moment but others not so much...

Astrid's P.O.V

It's been a whole two weeks since the last week of exploratory. A whole two weeks since I met Steven. Throughout those weeks we have become very close. I tell him everything. We email each other a lot to stay in touch. It turns out that both of us are adopted so we can relate to a lot of things. I am so nervous. Right now, all of the freshman are in the gym waiting to find out what shop we got. I really want electronics. Not because Steven is in it but because I would like to be an engineer. I have heard that it is a fun job and it pays very well. I wait nervously in the corner of the gym by myself listening to music. Right now I am listening to "Drown" by Tyler Joseph. It isn't exactly by Twenty One Pilots since it is on his secret album that you can only find on YouTube but I downloaded the mp3 version of it so I can listen to it from my phone. I suddenly feel a tap on my shoulder and I look up. I see my friend Max and jump up giving him a huge hug. We've been friends since kindergarten but I haven't seen him since fifth grade.

"What are you doing here?! I thought you moved to Rhode Island?!" I said. 

"I did but once I heard that you wanted to go to a vocational school like me I asked my mom if I could go here for a part of the school year to surprise you and she said yes. So.. Here I am!" he answered. 

"I missed you so much! I haven't seen you in forever! How have I not see you around? We are already 17 weeks into school year!" 

"Well, they didn't give us the same schedule. We have the same kind of classes but at different times so we never see each other. If we do pass each other you are always listening to your music and walking with your head down so you never see or hear me. What shop do you want? And what did you do to your hair?"

"I dyed it black and red! Do you like it? Oh! And I want electronics."

 "Cool! I like it! I want Metal Fabrication or Carpentry." 

"Nice! I like Metal Fab! I though it was fun being able to weld metal together. I didn't go through carpentry though." 

"Oh!"

"Could I please get everyone's attention?!" We heard from the front of the gym. 

"We will be calling out a handful of names and then telling you what shop you were placed into. Once you hear your name and shop you can go to your shop and then sit down and wait for instructions." We sat and listened to names being called until we heard

 "....and then Max Gardner. You will be in Metal Fabrication." I looked at Max and gave him a huge hug. 

"Congratulations! Now go get your butt to shop and I'll see you later alligator" I said. He gave me a hug back and said 

"Thanks Astrid! See you in a while crocodile!"

I sat in the gym as more people started to leave. I saw Mark and Jazzy leave so that meant that I didn't know anyone in here. I was in the middle of thinking when I heard them say, "Astrid Woods and Jeff Wells. You are all in Electronics." A huge smile spread across my face as I got up, picked up my bag, and un paused my music while walking down to shop. While I was walking "Somethings Gotta Give" by All Time Low came on. I finally got to the shop, being the last one in. I went to the farthest desk and sat down listening to my music. It started to change songs as I got settled into my desk. My favorite Panic! At The Disco song, "Turn Off The Lights" came on and I started bobbing my head to the music.

I felt a tap on my shoulder and turned around. I expected to see Steven but instead I saw (judging by his shirt) a freshman. I paused my music and looked at him. 

"Can I help you?" I asked him, a little to angrily than I had meant. 

"Um. Hi. I'm Jeff. The shop teachers told us to get to know each other a little bit. You are the only person that I haven't met yet."

 "Oh. Sorry. I'm Astrid. That's weird though. You are the only person that has come up to introduce yourself. Other than you, I don't know anyone in this shop."

 " Oh. Sorry." 

"It's not your fault."

"Oh. Okay." I felt a slight tap on my head. 

"Hey nerd! I can't believe you are in here!" I turn around, silently dismissing the conversation with Jeff, and see Steven. 

"I know right! Guess what!" 

"What?!" 

"It turns out my friend Max from kindergarten comes here now. Sadly, it's only going to be a small part of the school year,"

 "That's awesome!" 

"Yeah I am so excited!"

"Okay. Listen up please. Juniors please go back to your seats and finish your daily lab. Can all of the freshman come up here so we can explain things to you?"

Steven's P.O.V

*Before the freshman were told their shops*

I wonder what shops the freshmen will have? I hope they get what they wanted. But sad enough there will be some sad people who don't get there ideal shop. I feel a tap from behind and it's our "shop mom", Shadow. 

"Hey Steven do you think that Astrid will get this shop?" 

"To be honest I hope she gets this shop. She has been telling me for weeks now that she wants this shop to become an engineer. She has done well in this shop."
