FINAL CHAPTER

There is tension on the stage. The winner of the show will be announced any moment now and all the finalists are very nervous. Taehyung feels as if his heart would burst out of his chest. He gave his all during the performance and by the way the people reacted, he thinks that he did a pretty good job but Taeyong and Renjun sang pretty well too so he isn't very sure what the result would be.

"And the winner of Idol War 2021 is..." There's a long pause and a deafening silence. Taeyong and Renjun are holding hands while Taehyung's hands are clasped together in front of him. His eyes are closed tightly and he feels like he is about to pass out due to anxiety.

"V!" The host announces. The whole crowd bursts into cheers and sparkly, decorative material falls from the roof. The sky is full of beautiful fireworks. Taehyung looks around and smiles. He wasn't expecting this. He knew that there are chances that he could win but now that he has actually won, it seems surreal to him.

"Congratulations, V! You are the winner of Idol War. People have voted for you in masses and it seems like you have already got a strong fan following. You will be given a cash prize along with a contract with HYBE corporation." The host says. Taehyung is given a beautiful trophy and a check. Taeyong and Renjun also congratulate him and he tells them that they did really well too.

After the show ends, there is a small celebration party for Taehyung. All the contestants, the host and the staff attend it along with some people from HYBE. Taehyung is very happy. Yoongi joins him too and hugs him, happy that finally the person he wanted to win has won.

When the party gets over, an employee from HYBE tells him that he should visit the office two days later so that they can discuss and sign the contract. Taehyung agrees and when he is done thanking everyone for joining the party, he decides to leave.

Jungkook had already texted him that he would pick him up so he waited for the ravenette. In the meantime, he texts Seokjin and tells him about his win. Seokjin has gone out of Korea for shooting and even though he wanted to be there and cheer for Taehyung in grand finale, he couldn't. But Taehyung's parents and his brother are really happy and proud of him and that means the world to the younger.

Soon a black car comes to stop in front of him. Taehyung immediately recognizes that the car is Jungkook's. He quickly gets inside and puts the seatbelt on. He then takes his mask off and looks at his boyfriend, a smile never leaving his face.

"Aww... my baby is famous now. Look at you wearing a mask." Jungkook laughs. Taehyung pouts, "You're still more popular than me, Kookie and I'm so proud of you."

Jungkook looks at him with a smile and leans closer to his lips. "Congratulations, Taehyung." He says and places his lips on the younger's. They kiss each other gently and softly. Jungkook's hand draws patterns on the younger's nape while Taehyung decides to put his hand under the other's shirt.

Taehyung sucks the ravenette's lower lips and even nibbles at them, making him groan. His hand moves up to his chest and he starts playing with his nipples. That's when Jungkook snaps back to reality and moves back a little.

Taehyung looks at him with a confused expression but Jungkook tells him that they need to stop before both of them get hard because they still have to meet their friends who have organized a get together to celebrate Taehyung's win. The younger nods and they start driving towards their destination.

"Taehyung, I can't tell you how proud you made me today, baby. I'm so happy for you. I can't believe that my boyfriend is going to be a world famous singer soon." Jungkook says excitedly. It seems like their roles have been switched. This time Jungkook sounds like a fanboy and not the younger. Taehyung laughs at that and says, "I don't know about being world famous but I sure will be a singer. Thanks for inspiring me, hyung. Thanks for encouraging me six years ago and thanks for motivating me even now."

Jungkook smiles at that. Taehyung looks at his boyfriend who seems happy right now. But he remembers what Jimin said to him earlier today and he decides to talk to the ravenette about it.

Taehyung takes a deep breath and starts, "You know Jungkook, thunderstorms trigger my panic attack. You remember you helped me that day when I fell into darkness in the library? It was because there was a thunderstorm that day. I hate thunderstorms. It's because when I was kidnapped, once those stupid people tied me to a tree on a hot day when the sun was scorching. I felt drained of all the energy because of that. But then suddenly there was a thunderstorm and they didn't take me inside. I was there, wet and scared. I was already physically hurt too and that caused me to have trauma induced by thunderstorms. But you know when I'm with you, I don't get a panic attack when there's a thunderstorm. Remember I was totally fine on the second day of the university fest."

"What are you trying to say, Tae?"

"I'm saying that you are my safe place, Jungkook. I feel like I can tell you anything. I can share all my problems with you and tell you about all the painful memories and you'd just take them away. I don't know what I'd do without you." Taehyung says, tears slightly make their way in his eyes.

"Taehyung, I'll always be there for you and take care of you no matter what, baby. Trust me." Jungkook says as he intertwines their hands and keeps them on Taehyung's thigh.

"You should also think that way about me, Kookie and tell me whatever you're feeling. You can share anything and I promise to listen." Taehyung says earnestly.

"I will, princess."

"Then... do you want to tell me how you felt after meeting your father today?"

"You know about it?"

"Jimin told me."

"I... didn't tell you earlier because today was an important day for you and I didn't want your attention deviating from the completion."

"I guessed that. So do you want to talk about it now?" Taehyung asks him softly.

"I guess." Jungkook looks in his direction for a few seconds before focusing on the road. "My dad was not always an asshole." He starts, "Things changed since the day I found out about Jimin. I never really liked him and when I got to know that he is my father's son too, I was so disappointed in my dad and I started disliking Jimin even more.

"But then one day I talked to my dad about it and he yelled at me for eavesdropping. He said that I shouldn't utter a word about this to anyone or else it would affect the image of our company badly. That's when I realized all he cares about is his company and his money. I was furious so I went and told my mom about it. She was devastated and I told her that she needs to leave my dad because he's a cheater and he never truly cared about us. He just wanted to maintain this happy family image in front of the media and he was using us for that.

But my mom said that she loves him and she can't leave him even after knowing that he loves Jimin's mom. And my mom... I don't know if I should call her kind or naive... but she told me that I should let her meet Jimin. I didn't want her to but she forced me and when she met him, she instantly liked him as if the deeds of my father with his mother didn't matter. I got angry at my mom because of this too but then she told me how Jimin is hurting as well and after all he is my brother so I should take care of him. We should take the responsibility that my dad is refusing to take. So that's what I did. But Jimin didn't want any change in our behavior to be noticed publicly as I told you earlier so we acted like before. Hoseok and Namjoon hyung act mean in front of others just because Jimin didn't want their behavior to change as well. So we put up an act.

Now we found out that my dad is dying and even though all of us are so mad at him for not treating us right, we feel bad because of his health. Now I know why he's been bugging me to take over the company for months already. But I can't, Taehyung. I can't. I already have a successful career. I love what I do. I can't sit in a lavish room all day and keep going through files or attending meetings. That's not me. I can't do that." Jungkook's voice sounds very desperate in the end and Taehyung feels bad for him.

"Stop the car, Kookie." He says calmly.

"What?"

"Stop the car." Jungkook parks the car at the side of the road. Taehyung brings their intertwined hands in front of his mouth and kisses the back of the ravenette's hand. Jungkook's heart flutters at the action.

Taehyung then cups both his cheeks and kisses him. This is a kiss full of assurance that no matter what happens, he will always be there for him. Their lips move in sync, a beautiful rythm is set between them. They will take all the steps together, that's what the kiss suggests.

"Do what you want to, Jungkook. I promise to support all your decisions. Always." Taehyung mumbles before going back to kissing again.

This was the last chapter y'all. I know I said I will end it on 13th June. So there will be an epilogue on 13th. It's the 8th Anniversary of BTS after all so its important that I publish something on that day. So you'll get an epilogue of this book on 13th June and I will also publish my new book on that day. I want to publish it on a special day and there's no day better than 13th June.
