50 - Drunk Hitchhikers And Strippers,
Hey guys! I'm so, so sorry for such a late update. I've been really busy with studies lately. Secondly, this is like the longest chapter I've written, so I hope you people are patient enough to read the entire thing. Lol.
Imagine the minion Kevin as Penny, Bob as my character Kevin, and Stuart as Ian :)
PENNY
Penny, Kevin and Ian stood at the highway, 8 o'clock in the morning, staring at the road, hoping they could get a lift, considering they had no fucking money, or phones, or even clothes, in Kevin and Ian's case. Penny, thankfully, was fully clothed. The paintball shop had no one, except them. Even the cash register, which Ian had unethically checked, was empty.
Every car that came by, went by. Now she understood what they felt like in movies, when they got stranded on the highways. Like in Minions.
"This is fucking stupid", said Ian, sitting down in the dust.
"Then suggest something better", Kevin snapped.
Penny went and stood between them, "Guys, calm down. It's the hangovers talking."
"What are we gonna do?", Ian asked miserably.
And, as if on cue, Kevin pointed at this big bus coming their way. Penny jumped up. They were saved!
It came closer, and Penny walked towards the center of the road, while sticking her thumb out. This bus was huge. Not exactly a tourist bus. It was silver, with weird purple borders. And multi-colored light coming out of it. And was that...music?
"Oh my God it's a fucking party bus", Kevin groaned, but Ian forgot his hangover and jumped up.
"I've always wanted to go on a party bus!", he said excitedly.
The bus stopped in front of Penny, and this girl stepped out, whose waist was about as thin as the thumb Penny had been holding out. She had bright red hair, and was wearing really...revealing clothes, as she smiled at them.
"Oh, you're back!", she said excitedly, and gave Penny a hug, "We are going back to LA. Want to hitch a ride?"
"Yes", Penny said excitedly, then paused, "wait, how do you know us?"
The girl looked at her from top to bottom, "Ah, hungover, I see. Don't you remember anything?", she asked, and Penny could see her focusing on Ian.
Penny shook her head. The girl gestured at them to get inside. And when Penny climbed on, the bus was like...the Home of The Dead. There were very few people dancing to loud music, some drinking god-knows-what using god-knows-what to drink it, while the rest were just lying on the seats and on the floor, the effects of partying on a bus all night long. Penny wrinkled her nose. It smelled like beer, sweat and a lot of barf in there. But this was their only option. And hopefully a place with some answers.
"So, do you know what we did, last night?", Ian asked, very subtly.
"Around, I don't know, one, you guys hitched a ride with us. You", she pointed at Penny, "have some sweet moves, you", she pointed at Kevin, "were a crowd favourite. Both guys and girls. And you", she said, jabbing a finger in Ian's chest, "you and I took a quick bathroom break", Ian's eyes widened at that, "and you don't even remember it."
Ian shook his head feverishly, "No, no, of course I do. How 'bout we do it again?"
Kevin shoved him out of the seat and onto the beer-and-other-unmentionable-things filled ground, and Penny kicked his shoulder.
"My name's Britney, in case you forgot that as well", the girl said, "when we came near the paintball shop, you guys began chanting 'Paintball' so we dropped you off over there. Lucky for you, Bobby", she said, pointing to the driver, "decided to take the same route back."
"Reaching LA in an hour", Bobby called upfront.
Penny stumbled up to the front, carefully maneuvering around drunk people lying around, and went up to Bobby, "Hey, can you take us to this place", she said then recited Shane's address. Best place to go at the moment. Better than her own home, where she was sure Mom was waiting at the front door, holding a baseball bat, waiting for Penny.
MATT
Shane squirmed around for a bit, then looked up at Matt with wide eyes, "Oh, my god I have money in my underwear too", he said, then he shuddered, given the blankets around him were shaking violently. Matt turned towards Kelly who shook her head.
"I don't have any kind of money in my underwear", she said, with a sigh. Probably relieved.
Shane sighed, probably not relieved, "I have only one guess", he said, then looked at Kelly.
"Strip club", they both said together, and Matt forgot how to breathe. Strip club. They had been in a bloody strip club. No. They were, at that moment, in a strip club. If Mom found out about this...
"And I think you guys...performed", Kelly said, wrinkling her nose. And...Matt forgot how to breathe again. Holy shit, he better have just stuffed some bills down his underwear himself. Then reality struck him. If Emma found out about this...
"No, no, no, nothing happened like that!", Matt shouted and clutched his head.
And then, a door, which Matt not even noticed, opened and this girl, this partially-dressed-girl, lean and curvy at the same time, with startling blue eyes and platinum blonde hair stepped in, and flashed a smile in Matt's direction, which made him shudder even more.
"Ah, my cuties are finally awake!", she said with the amount of energy that was triple the amount of energy left in the three of them combined, "When you first climbed up onto that stage, I was about to call the guards, but then when you took that shirt off...", she trailed off and stared at Matt, making him more self-conscious than ever. He pulled the sheets closer to himself, trying to cover himself up. Oh God, Matt had gone up on that stage. Oh God, he had taken his shirt off. Had he done anything...else? He shuddered even at the thought of that.
Shane groaned, pulling Matt out of his terrifying thoughts, "Lady, do you know what happened last night?"
She looked over Shane, and a wider smile spread on her face, "This is so adorable. My cuties are hungover!"
Shane and Kelly scoffed, while Matt just sighed in exasperation, "First things first, do you know where our possessions might be, uh...", Matt tried to remember her name, and failed miserably.
"Joanna", she said, that big smile still evident on her face, as she took a ziploc bag out from behind her back.
Kelly rushed over, since she was the only one, kinda-decently dressed, and took the bag, filled with their mobile phones, watches, keys, and...condoms?
Matt sighed and turned to Shane, who shrugged, "You never know which straight friend of yours might need it. Thank me later for being such an amazing friend."
"What about their clothes?", Kelly asked, as Matt switched on his phone. And crap, there were twenty-one missed calls. Five from Emma, and the rest from his family. And, as he was about to call them back, it died.
Joanna waved a hand around, "They must be scattered somewhere. If not, don't worry, we have spares."
Matt got up and stumbled out of that room, to see what the fuck was going on, and when he walked out, he realised that it was true. There were neon lights everywhere, and a big stage in front, opposite to the bar, with...poles on it. And Matt shuddered even more when he thought of himself climbing on top of it.
When he noticed the cleaning staff giving him weird looks, he realised he was still in his boxers. He noticed his pants on one of the seats at the bar, and snatched it up, running back into that room, which he now noticed had a sign on the door which read Dressing Room.
Did strip clubs need a dressing room?
Shane and Kelly both were wearing dress robes and talking to what-was-her-name-again?
"Well, all I know is that you people walked in here around eleven o'clock, then you and your friend", she said to Shane, then turned to stare at Matt again, who had just put on his jeans, making him extremely uncomfortable yet again, "you put on a really good show, helped me make a lot of money, then came in here and passed out. I asked my assistant to put some blankets on you, and not pile a bunch of them on top of you", she said, then pulled out an envelope and handed it to Shane.
"Your pay", she said. Matt curiously looked into it, and saw a big bundle of notes. Whoa, strippers earned a lot.
Maybe he could buy that professional artist kit Emma had always wanted. And that big Peppa Pig soft toy that Erica wanted. And another big Peppa Pig soft toy which Hannah secretly wanted. And a new PlayStation for Quinn. And those Bluetooth headphones for Derek. Even Shane was staring at it wide-eyed.
"Okay", Matt squeaked, and took the envelope. Yes, he was selfish. In a family of seven, it was difficult to find spare money for other non-essential stuff. And he really did wanna buy her that gift. He imagined a big smile spreading on her face, then smiled to himself.
Joanna had been really kind as she lent Matt and Shane two t-shirts, very sparkly, t-shirts, aspirin, some bacon which the cook had made for them (with a note for Shane and Matt each, which he had sworn to burn when he got home) and she had offered both Matt and Shane jobs, which both of them declined without the blink of an eye. Joanna had been remarkably sweet to the three of them, so they promised to spread word to their...older, friends, about the ambiance of the place.
They walked out of a strip club, feeling much better than when they had woken up, and Matt looked around to see where they were. Shane too observed around, then sighed when he said, "We're in the opposite side of town, dawg."
Kelly groaned, running a hand through her strawberry blonde hair, "Great. Phone's dead, and we have no transportation."
Shane held up the envelope with the money in it, "But we have the money to pay for it."
"We should go to Shane's place, and try to figure out what we did last night", said Matt, rubbing his head. The strong sunshine (even though it was nine in the morning) was making his headache worse.
"Good idea", Shane said, then dragged Matt and Kelly to the bus stop, where everyone stared at their bright, shimmery clothes, as if they were some sort of hippies. And to be truthful, Matt thought they looked worse.
Shane held out a hand to hail a cab for a very expensive cab ride, when this big purple-silver bus with music blaring from it stopped in front of him.
"I'm better than I thought", said Shane, smugly.
"You stopped a party bus, you dope", said Kelly as, to everyone's surprise, Penny hopped down, and ran to Matt, and gave him a hug.
"What are you guys doing in this part of town?", she asked.
"What are you doing on a party bus?", Matt asked in return.
"What are you wearing?", she asked, pointing at Matt's...sequined shirt.
"Why are you covered in paint?", Matt asked in return.
"Do you remember anything from last night?", Penny asked. Ah, so this was a question for a question game.
"Do you?", Matt asked, playing along. He rubbed his forehead, the music making his headache worse than ever.
Penny sighed, probably tired of the game, "Just get on the bus. We're going to Shane's house anyway."
When they got onto the bus, Matt saw Kevin and Ian sitting on one of the front seats. And the rest were occupied with drunk, sleeping people. Matt sighed. Guess they would have to stand.
Kevin squinted at Matt, "What the hell are you wearing?", he asked.
"I'm not doing this again", said Matt, as Shane climbed on. And Kevin pushed past Matt and wrapped Shane into a hug, then kissed him. Matt sighed again. He wanted to see Emma even more now. Hold her, kiss her. And where the fuck could she be at the moment?
This extremely thin girl somehow walked over the drunk people's bodies, as she came to them.
"Great kisser, eh?", she asked Shane.
Shane looked at her seriously, "Excuse me?"
"Oh yeah he is!", yelled one of the guys dancing at the back.
Shane turned to Kevin, "What the heck?!"
"I-I don't know. I w-was drunk", Kevin stammered, but Shane had already shoved him away and walked to the other end of the bus, sat in one of the corner seats, and began staring out of the window.
This was gonna be one hell of an awkward bus ride.
WILL
"Mr. Fisher, you are on leave", said Mrs. Hughes, when Will and Liv were almost about to enter the locker rooms, where Will's locker always had a spare jersey. Maybe there was a hoodie too.
Mrs Hughes surveyed him, shirtless, with that towel around him, because he was only wearing swimming trunks, then shifted her gaze to Liv, who was still dripping, her dress clinging to her body. She did not have her glasses. Will really hoped she didn't lose them. She was almost blind without them.
"Um, Ma'am", Liv began, but then Mrs. Hughes held up a hand.
"I have good guesses why you two are in this school in that", she pointed at them, "state. And I don't want to hear them. Just get some clothes and get out before I tell the principal."
Will smiled and nodded then ran into the locker room with Liv. And everybody in the locker room, stopped what they were doing and stared at him. Then he realised there was a girl in a locker room full of naked sweaty boys.
Liv gasped and covered her eyes, then ran out of the locker room, the sole attention on Will now, who slowly walked to his locker and removed his jersey, then thankfully found the hoodie there for Liv as well.
"Dude", said a tall guy, really tall guy, who was literally towering over Will, "Your the football striker dude, right?"
Will nodded, feeling smug that he was pretty popular in this school.
Then the guy held up his phone, on which a video was playing, "Is that you?"
Will took the phone from his hand and saw a video posted on Instagram by the confessions page. And almost fell from shock when his mind processed what was going on.
It was in the Clippers stadium, and displayed on the big screen...Will was standing on one of the seats holding a big sign with his phone number on it, singing...
Call Me Maybe
"Fuck", was the only thing that came out of his mouth. The others started laughing their asses off, as Will felt himself turn red. So they were not looking at him in the football field because of his body...
He ran outside with the clothes, to where Liv was standing by the wall. She caught the hoodie he tossed at her, then gave him a questioning look.
"Why are they laughing inside?", she asked, as she slipped the hoodie on herself.
Will gave her an alarmed look, "I'll explain later. Let's just sneak out without getting noticed."
There was no basketball class at the moment, so they decided to sneak through the basketball court. But, as always, there was somebody there.
When they entered, they saw Hannah standing near the basket, talking to her friend Nathan. When they noticed Will, Hannah broke into a huge grin, which meant trouble, as she ran to him and held up her phone.
"Thanks for the number", she said, trying to control her laughter as Nathan, her friend, snorted behind. She clicked a picture of Will, "And this will be my contact photo."
"Huh?", Liv asked, while Will gave her the best scowl he could manage.
"Do you want it as well?", Hannah asked Liv, then laughed harder, even though her joke was not remotely funny.
"Just, please help us sneak out", Will pleaded.
"You have to introduce me to the JV soccer team", Hannah demanded.
"Deal."
Hannah took her phone out and dialled a number, "Hey, Ty, do you know a route to sneak out of the basketball court?", she asked. She had a conversation with this other friend of hers on the phone for a while, then looked back at Will.
"You're in luck! I'll lead the way", she said, then began walking towards the washrooms. Turns out, there was a back door, which Will never discovered, being in the school for seven years. So depressing.
When they were out, they surprisingly met Chad there, who ran up to them.
"Why did you guys run onto the soccer field?", he asked.
"Uhh", was Will's only reply, considering his head was still pounding from the alcohol he must have consumed last night, which was an obvious assumption after watching that scarring video.
Chad shook his head, "Anyway, I think we woke up in Mr. Martinez's hot tub, and he's super pissed and I think he's talking to the dean right now."
Ugh, why was that guy such a pain in the ass?
"You guys should leave fast", Nathan said, as they walked to the main road, to hopefully find a cab, because Chad, bless him, still had his mobile and wallet.
As they walked to the side of the road, Will noticed a large silver-purple bus heading in their direction, blaring music at such early hours. And it stopped in front of him.
"Whoa man, you're good. Catching a party bus and all", said Chad, looking impressed, even though Will did not even hold out a hand. And what was a party bus doing here. Weren't they supposed to, like, pick up homeless people from the highway and get them drinking their sorrows away?
What surprised Will the most was when Matt hopped off and ran to him, then patted him on the shoulder, then looked around, and the first question he asked Will was, "Emma's not with you?"
Before Will could reply, Hannah stormed to Matt and shoved him in the chest, "Where the heck were you, you douche? Mom was worried sick, I had to make pancakes, everyone pretended to be sick, and", Hannah stopped and surveyed Matt, "what are you wearing?!"
Matt indeed was wearing this...loud, sequined shirt, with frills hanging down from both sleeves. If Will wasn't in the middle of his current...situation, he would have laughed himself hoarse.
Matt hugged Hannah, which the other wasn't too pleased about, and said, "I'll explain everything later. Just, we need to get to Shane's house. Get on the bus", he told Will then went back in. Will looked at Chad and Liv for a moment, then after coming to a silent agreement, they all hopped onto the bus, and Will carefully stepped around lots of drunk, sleeping people to get to Penny, Kevin, Ian, Kelly sitting inside. Penny hugged him tightly, then hugged Liv, and yelped a bit.
"Why are you wet?", she asked Liv.
"Why are you covered in paint?", Liv asked.
Matt sighed, "Just save the questions for later."
"Where's Kyle?", Penny asked.
"Not with us", was Will's only reply, "neither is Emma", he said, answering Matt's earlier question, then asked, "Where's Shane?"
Everyone pointed to the corner of the bus, where, Shane was dozing peacefully, among people dancing to loud music, and big puddles of barf.
"Why is he over there?", Liv asked.
"He's mad at me", Kevin said with a sigh.
"He apparently made out with, like, half of the bus", Matt added, earning one of Kevin's famous death stares.
Will just sighed and stood next to Matt, "Let's save the stories for later."
EMMA
Emma searched her pockets for her phone, wallet, anything. But, nothing. Kyle did the same, and had the same results. She had lost hope, when Griffin jumped, then probably remembered he had a massive headache, and sat down again.
"I have my car keys", he said excitedly. Emma and Kyle both got up and hugged him. They were saved!
But then Kyle frowned.
"Who'll drive?", he asked, "we're all hungover."
Emma frowned too. And so did Grif. Now what could they do?
"First, where's your car?", Emma asked, and Griffin pointed to the right near the road, where a sleek black car was parked. Okay, they did have the car.
"I-I can try to drive", Griffin offered, but Kyle shook his head.
"I trust you, Grif. But the sober, non-hungover version of you. I really don't wanna die", he said, very subtly.
"At least, let's go to the car, and sit in there, and blast the air-conditioning", Emma suggested.
Both agreed to that, and they began the walk to the car. And it was the hardest hundred meters of Emma's life. The sun was shining so brightly, her head ached more than ever. It was so hot, even though Emma was wearing half the clothes she usually wore, and the skin on her collar bone had started to itch, because of the bloody tattoo sitting over there. How would she hide it when she got back? Would she go back?
When they entered the car, and Griffin switched on the air-conditioning, the first blast of cold-air on Emma's skin was the best feeling in the world. They all sighed in satisfaction and began pressing their faces near the air-conditioning vents. Grif was in the passengers seat, while Emma and Kyle were lounging in the back. They both leaned on each door and stretched their legs out on top of each other. Neither of them cared about the closeness, with those killer headache's raging in their skulls.
Grif was asleep before Emma could finish counting to ten. And Kyle was examining the tattoo on his forearm.
"Will you be able to leave her?", Emma asked him, something she had been wanting to ask for a really long time, but somehow didn't have the courage to.
"It's gonna be really hard, Emma. But I have to. We both have dreams. And we both have the ability to fulfill those dreams and achieve greatness. If leaving Penny is the price to pay for watching her dreams come true, then so be it. UCONN is a good college. Heck, it's a great college, but we all know UCLA will be better for her. And I want Penny to have the best", Kyle said, and Emma smiled.
Penny was a lucky bitch for getting a guy like this.
"Why did you choose Duke?", Kyle asked.
"Well, first, Matt", Emma's smile dropped involuntarily, and Kyle got the indication which she didn't really wanna give.
"What's wrong?", Kyle asked.
Emma sighed. Maybe it was time to just get it off her chest.
"Kyle, I just, sometimes I just wonder why he's with me. He's an amazing guy, sweet, charming, cute. I see how the others look at him with wonder. Then at me with surprise. Like, how can an amazing guy like that be with her. And...I agree with them. Why would he want to be with me, when he can get any girl in school?", Emma said, her lip wobbling slightly.
Kyle took her hand, and moved his thumb on her knuckle, "Those are just your insecurities surfacing, Emma. As to why he wants to be with you, I think its a question for him to answer. What are your other reasons?"
Emma looked down yet again. Should she tell him? But this was Kyle they were talking about. He comforted Penny, when Emma couldn't. It wouldn't be that bad to just get it out of her system, now would it?
"I didn't get accepted into Stanford or Harvard. I had just applied for early admission in Duke, to see if I could get in. I wasn't exactly serious about it. Now it's the best option I have", Emma said it all. And whoa, it already felt better. But now Kyle too knew that Emma was a big failure. What was the point of studying her ass off, if she couldn't even get into her dream colleges.
Kyle took her hand, and his thumb started rubbing circles on her knuckle, which was extremely soothing, as if he had guessed Emma was on the verge of tears.
"Em, don't cry. There are more colleges you can apply to right now, you know that right? And I'm sure, once the result comes out, these colleges will fight each other to have you. Just have faith. And as for Duke", Kyle paused, and ran his other hand through his golden brown hair, "It's an excellent university and you know it. "I've heard their track team is the best in all NCAA colleges. Won't you want that?", he asked, and Emma considered that.
"I do love track and field", she said, "but as a hobby. Not as a courier option."
"Why don't you decide that after you get into college?", Kyle suggested.
"Huh", was all Emma said, as she adjusted her body to get more cold air from her new best-friend, the air conditioner.
"And don't consider yourself a failure. A failure is a person who stops trying, and I know you, Em. You'll never stop trying. You know you have greatness in you, as much as Will or Matt or Penny. Just don't stop believing that if you work hard, fate will always be in your favour", Kyle said,
And that was why everyone told their problems to Kyle, ladies and gentlemen. The guy was better than the best therapists in the big city of LA. Emma was still a bit unconvinced, but that tight knot in her chest, it began loosening into something less painful. And she was grateful to Kyle for that. Then as she was about to answer, while Kyle was too busy staring at the tattoo of his, she heard this loud rasp on the window on her side. Both Emma and Kyle jumped, and turned around to see a middle aged man in a leather jacket standing outside frowning at them.
Kyle sucked in a breath beside her, and grabbed her arm, "Oh my God that's Daniel O'Donoghue!"
"Who?", Emma asked, extremely confused.
Kyle looked at her with disbelief, "The lead singer if The Script", he said, and Emma realised it was that band which Penny had been in love with for so many years.
Emma rolled down her window as the guy peered inside, "Hey, are you guys going to LA by any chance?", he asked, and Emma could feel Kyle shivering with excitement next to her.
"Yes, Mr O'Donoghue!", Kyle squeaked.
The guy smiled at him slightly, "You listened to my songs, huh?"
Kyle nodded feverishly, and Emma was afraid he was getting sugar-high without having any sugar, "Every single one of them, sir."
"Can you give me a ride, then?", He asked.
"Do you know how to drive, sir?", Emma asked.
Daniel frowned at her, "Of course I do", he said.
"Then can you drive for us?", Kyle asked, and was he giving the singer puppy-dog eyes?
Daniel sighed, "Okay."
Kyle was grinning from eye to eye, "Oh my God, Daniel O'Donoghue is going to drive me home. Oh my God. Oh my God" , he began, and Emma patted his shoulder.
"Just call me Dan", he said, as Emma took Grif's keys from his pocket and handed it to Dan, then told him where they wanted to go.
The entire trip, Kyle had been jumping up and down, asking Dan all the questions in the world, while Emma kept staring at the number 19 now on her collarbone. And she felt it looked good. That she wouldn't want to get it removed. Griffin did not even wake once, the entire ride.
Finally, after what felt like a day, they rounded the turn to the street where Shane's house was. And they saw a big purple bus pulling up beside the curb.
"Why the heck does your friend own a party bus?", Dan asked, as he pulled the car to the side of the road.
Emma opened the door, the hot air now caressing her cool skin as she stared at the bus. There was music blasting from it, and Emma could smell the beer from the other side of the road.
What was more astonishing was when she saw Penny get off. Emma began waving at Penny, and the idiot was not even able to see them. Only when Kyle got off and called out her name, did she turn in their direction and ran to them, not caring that she was running across a road, as she jumped into Kyle's arma and they kissed each other, Emma shamelessly staring at them.
"Ah you must be Penny", said Dan, and they both broke away as Penny stared at the singer sitting in the driver's seat. She then looked at Kyle, and back at Dan, then started hitting Kyle's arm.
"Is that", she asked, as Kyle nodded
"OH MY GOD!", She squealed and Griffin jumped up and hit his head in the ceiling. He then looked at Dan in the driver's seat.
"What the heck?", he asked. But Emma had stopped paying attention as she noticed more people step out of the bus. There was Will, then Kevin, then Kelly, Chad, Ian, and...
He too ran across the road, without caring that there cars driving by, and that he had an accident before, as he scooped Emma up in his arms and Emma giggled as the sequins on his extremely undescribable shirt began tickling her bare stomach.
He pressed his lips onto hers, sweetly, slowly, as their faces molded together. Those tiny fireworks began bursting in her stomach like they always did, and happiness overwhelmed her. She had missed him so much as she had been sitting in that car listening to Kyle mentally destroy Daniel O'Donoghue. Both of them smelled like beer and other...stuff, but it didn't matter. Matt finally set her down as she began gasping for air.
"I missed you so much", they said together, then laughed.
She then felt Matt's eyes leave her face and travel down, and saw those sea green eyes widen, and it took her a moment to realise why he was looking at her like that.
"Is that...my jersey number?", He asked.
Emma nodded.
"Is that washable?", he asked. And Emma shook her head. He put a finger on it, and Emma felt herself tense under the touch. Something fell out of his shirt-pocket and Emma bent down to pick it up. It was a note. Huh.
She opened it as Matt said, "Don't open it!"
But it was too late as she read the contents.
Can't wait to see your sexy ass in the club again, hottie.
- Marge
Emma looked up from the note at Matt's anxious expression.
What the heck did he do last night?
