12-Im Gonna Give All My Secrets Away

EMMA

Emma knew she shouldn't be dancing with random strangers, but she didn't know why, dancing with this guy, who she now called Vulture, It just... felt right. She knew should stop, but she couldn't. They finished one song, then a second and then a third. The third song finished, and she knew she should go, but then a slow dance song played, and he pulled her closer.

Okay, pull away Emma, said that voice in her head. But she didn't want to. Everything felt just so right. She had to pull away, but the feel of his hands on her waist felt strangely familiar. She thought of Matt and how he would feel about this. But then he was hopefully somewhere with Penny, so it didn't really matter.

She had never felt so impulsive her entire life, but now, being in Vulture's arms made her feel good, like she belonged. She felt like she was home. Nobody had ever made her feel this way.

The slow song stopped and she looked into his eyes. Being so close, she could notice they were a beautiful shade of green. She had always wished she had green eyes instead of blue.

They sat down on one of the tables and talked. For hours.

MATT

Matt was pretty angry with Emma. There were a lot of girls in pink dresses. And he did not even know what embroidery was. He had danced with three brunettes in pink dresses, and none of them felt like Penny. He knew he could recognise Penny's smile anywhere, and none of the girls who smiled at him made him feel that fluttering in his stomach, other than Penny.

He scanned the room one more time. One more girl was standing at the bar, in a pink dress with weird red flowers on it. Maybe that could be Penny. He walked over to her and tapped her on the shoulder.

"Would you like to dance?", he asked nervously. She smiled at him.

He felt it. The weird fluttering in his stomach that Emma called butterflies. He had told her he didn't eat butterflies, but she had rolled her eyes at him and told him it was a metaphor. He did not really know what a metaphor was either. He hadn't asked her. He did not want to sound dumb.

But he was sure this was Penny.

And fortunately, she replied,"Sure!"

They walked to the dance floor and he took her hand. He danced surprisingly well this time, and he did not step on her foot even once. He was proud of himself. He was a good dancer after all.

WILL

"So, what would I do if I had a million dollars?", he asked Falcon.

"Yeah", she replied.

"Um, this may sound really weird, but I would pay to make time stop and let this night never end", he said, and she threw her head back and laughed, that sincere, sweet laugh of hers, whose sound he may never forget in his life.

He sat up with a jerk. He had a really big crush on her now. No, it was more than just a crush, but he couldn't put his finger on it. He decided that he would ask her out, as soon as they both took their masks off. He just knew that she was the one.

She sat up,"You really enjoyed this night, huh."

He sat up straight too," You should have guessed it quite a while ago."

He could faintly hear the countdown to midnight.

10, 9 ,8...

She gave him a radiant smile, and his stomach turned.

7,6,5...

His heart began to beat fast again, like it had been walking before and now somebody put it on a treadmill.

4,3,2...

He could feel this fire burn in his stomach, and a weird kind of electricity between them, which was pulling him towards her.

1.

His lips met hers, and warmth shot through his body, burning with desire. He knew he had caught her by surprise, but she did not pull away. This encouraged him to deepen the kiss, as she wrapped her arms around his neck. It felt so good. This was his first, and he wished he could play the moment in an infinite loop, which would never end. He lost himself in that moment, when everything felt right.

Time to show her your face, Will, he said to himself, and pulled his mask off, not breaking the kiss. She opened her eyes and looked at him, then suddenly pulled away.

He could see her eyes widen. Much to his dismay, she pulled up her skirt and sprinted out of the hall. He could feel a small pit, or a void in his stomach, growing bigger and bigger with each stride she took out of the hall. What had he done, because of which she did this?

He felt like he was a part of a very twisted Cinderella story.
