Chapter 8

After school that day, the twins hurried home, luckily avoiding the host pub as they got in their limo and headed home. When they got home, they headed inside, only to encounter Miyu.

"What is it?" They asked.

"Well, it seems that your parents are coming home a day early. They're due to arrive tonight."

The twins quickly grabbed each other's hands, a look of fear crossing their faces.

"They'll be home around five." Her voice cracked a tiny bit, having seen the look of horror on the faces that just so recently started to gain expressions again. She turned and left, not able to bear the pain of seen the twin's faces.

The twins just stood there, in shock for a moment, before their faces became emotionless, the smiles they had carried throughout the day were gone, with no trace of them ever being there.

They silently headed upstairs, sitting quietly on their beds as they looked out the window, seeing snow fall to the ground. "It's getting colder. Christmas is coming soon, isn't it?"

"Yeah..." Kaida said, then he reached for the laptop they hid under the bed and walked over to the sock drawer, moving the socks so it could rest at the bottom, being hidden from plain sight, then he walked back, grabbing the book from his book bag and held it for them to read.

After a couple chapters, the two looked at the clock, 4:55

"We should head downstairs. You know how they like it." Kaida muttered.

Arita just nodded, standing up alongside her brother and walking down the stairs, already seeing the maids getting ready on both sides of the stairs. The twins stood in the middle, so close that their shoulders were touching.

5 minutes until the arrive.

4 minutes until they arrive.

3 minutes until they arrive.

2 minutes until they arrive.

1 minute until they arrive.

After that minute past, the door flew open. They were right on time, like always. And when they got inside, both of the twins had caught a whiff of alcohol on their breaths. Stronger than usual.

"Why don't you two... Go... Go upstairs. We'll come fetch you later." Their mom said.

The twins just nodded, turning around and heading upstairs.

~Suko's POV~
After the twins went upstairs, the two dismissed all of the to continue their jobs, and Suko caught a whiff of alcohol on their breaths.

"It's going to be a long night tonight..." Miyu muttered.

Suko looked at her a bit confused. "What do you mean?" She asked.

Miyu didn't respond, it seemed as if she was trying to tell her something but had no idea how to word it.

A couple minutes later Suko heard the squeaking of a bed.

"Ew. Do they have no regard for their children? I mean, they're only a couple rooms over!" Suko exclaimed, disgusted.

Miyu looked at her, something showing in her eyes, but she didn't say a word.

Suko looked at her. "Is there something you're not telling me?" She asked harshly, her officer side taking over.

"Of course not." Miyu said, her eyes glancing to the side.

Suko knew she wasn't telling her the truth, but she didn't want to pry any more, in risk of breaking her cover. She went to the servant's quarters and sat on her bed, opening up her flip phone and contacting Kyoya.

Suko: The parents returned home early. And again something is going on and the servants are in on it too.

Kyoya: Try to figure it out quickly. I have a feeling we don't have much time.

Suko: Right.

She closed her phone, still hearing the squeaking of the bed, it kept going until midnight, when it finally stopped and she heard a pair of footsteps walk down the hall above her.

"Finally." She murmered, soon falling asleep.

The next morning, she woke up, expecting to hear the twins leaving for school like she did every morning, but there were no sounds. The parents had already gone for work, maybe they had a day off or something.

She just got up, and went upstairs, ready to clean through the hallways when she saw that the twin's door was cracked open and she peeked in, shocked at what she saw.

The twins were on their bed, wounds running along their bodies and blood running out of Arita's mouth, the sheets around the two was stained with blood. She head Miyu walking up to her and she turned her head, looking at the elder maid.

"W-what happened?" She asked.

Miyu looked into the room, taking a step back. "They've gone to far." She muttered, horrified.

"What do you mean?" Suko asked, "I can help, I swear."

"How can you help?" Miyu looked at her, her brown eyes wide with fear. "There's no way."

Suko knew the case was almost over. She pulled out her badge that she kept in one of her pockets, showing Miyu. "Tell me exactly what happens every night."

Miyu looked at her, then she took a breath, telling Suko exactly what happened every night, Suko just looked at her in shock. She heard about how ever since Akaila died, their parents blamed the two for the death, and how they abused both of them every night in a drunken rage.

After recovering from a moment of shock Suko reached for her phone and dialed up a number. "This is Suko Kimi of quadrant four, I request an ambulance and some officers sent to..." She kept talking, saying the address of the parents place of work and some other things. She hung up her phone and looked at the twins, "An ambulance should be here in a couple minutes. Don't worry."
