Chapter 1

Arita and Kaida sat at a desk, sharing the seat, their black hair merging together.

"So, the dog did die in the end. How predictable." Arita said, her pale blue eyes scanning the page, the last page of the book. "The dog always dies."

"Yes. It's a way to get reader's to feel something." Kaida said, looking at his sister, "But it's overused."

"Of course it is." Arita reached her hand up to her neck, ready to scratch when her brother grabbed her arm, his face emotionless.

"Your injury bothering you?" He asked, looking into Arita's eyes.

"Yes. He held my neck tighter than usual last night."

Their parents were abusive, giving the twins new injuries every day in drunken rage. Every day since the accendent, the one that killed their little sister, her death was blamed on the twins, since they were the only people that were there to witness it. They didn't know what happened themselves, one minute, she was walking happily in front of them on their way back to the store, the next, there was a scream, and she was laying in the middle of the street blood pooled around her.

"Hey Haruhi!" Two voices broke the twins out of their thoughts and they looked up to see the other set of twins, the well known ones, Hikaru and Kaoru Hitachiin.

"What do you two want?" A brown haired boy asked them, a deadpan expression on his face.

"We can't just give you a friendly greeting?" Hikaru asked, yes, the twins knew which Hitachiin was which, since they were twins themselves.

"Not at the end of the day." Haruhi said.

The twins kept walking towards Haruhi, who was taking a couple steps back, getting closer and closer to the twin's desk, until he bumped into it, knocking the book from Kaida's hands.

"Oh, I'm sorry-" Haruhi turned around and looked at the two, his big brown eyes meeting up with their identical blue ones.

"It's alright." Kaida said, bending over and grabbing the book from the ground. "Shall we go find another book before we leave for home?"

"Of course." Arita said, standing up at the same time her brother did, the two walking out of the room side by side.

-Haruhi's POV-
"Who were they?"

"Oh them? They're the Sukejuro twins, Kaida and Arita." Hikaru said, walking up to Haruhi and looking at the door.

"They seem so..." Haruhi muttered.

"Isolated?" Kaoru asked.

"Yeah."

"They act a lot like us back before Tamaki broke us out of our shells." Hikaru stated. "I pity them, they don't know what they're missing out on."

"Hasn't anyone tried to break them out of their shell?" Haruhi looked at the two, curiosity in her eyes.

"The boss has tried, apparently they don't want anyone else in their life." Kaoru said. "Even when we were in our shell, there was still a small part of us that wanted to have friends, and we realized that when the boss broke us out of our shell."

-Arita's POV-
The twins wondered through the library, looking at all of the books. That were in there.

"It's loud in here." Arita observed, listening to the chatter around her in the library.

"I don't think they understand what proper library manners are." Kaida responded, "Let's get this book." He held up a book. "It's a classic murder novel."

"Sure. We shouldn't linger any longer, mother and father are expecting us home."

Kaida nodded and they headed out, checking the book out before they left. When they got out of the school, there was a limo waiting for them, they got inside and it drove off, heading towards their manor.

Of course, like most kids at Ouran, their parents were rich, owning the largest reporting agency in Japan, maybe that was why they could abuse them without it being reported to the media, their parents practically owned the media, or really all news based media.

"You think they'll be better today?" Arita asked.

"I hope they are." Kaida replied.

"Me too."

The rest of the ride was in silence, and though they kept their usual emotionless faces, their anxiety was growing with every mile the car went.

"We're here." The driver said as he opened the door.

"Thank you." The twins said together, getting out of the car and looking up at the house.

"Ready Arita?"

"Yes."

The two walked inside, their hands grasping each other's hands as they entered the door.

"Welcome back, Master Kaida, Mistress Arita." One of the servants said. "Your parents requested that you two go up to your room, they'll come for you in a moment."

The two nodded and headed up to the room, where they sat on the bed quietly, Kaida's hand resting on Arita's, they jumped when the door opened suddenly, their mother came in.

"Kaida, let's.... Let's go." She slurred, obviously drunk.

"Yes mother." Kaida said, standing up and following her out, a minute later, Arita heard a shout of pain, jumping again when she felt someone grab onto her hair, pulling her up to a standing position. Her hair was let go, and she was pushed to the ground, bumping her elbow against her bedpost.

--WARNING Mentioning of rape and some torture coming up!--

"Hello princess." Her father slurred, bringing his face close to her, allowing her to smell the alcohol on his breath. "Ready for some fu... Fun?" He asked.

Arita was quiet, if she said anything, he wouldn't listen, she felt him grab onto her uniform and start ripping it off, along with the bandages she had around her neck and chest soon only leaving her in her underwear and bra. She was still on the ground, shouting in pain when she felt her father's foot collide with her stomach, kicking all the air out of her.

"It was your fault Akaila died. She would be here if you were a bit more responsible!" He shouted, kicking her in the chest.

A few more kicks and her father stopped, grabbing onto her neck and throwing her on the bed, where he loomed over her, causing Arita to tremble in fear, not able to move.

After her father was done doing... Things... To her, he left, shutting the door behind him, leaving Arita to lay in the bed, her long black hair a tangled mess and tears running down her cheeks, though her face remained emotionless her eyes stared blankly at the celling
--Section over, safe to read, some mention of blood beyond this point--

~Kaida's POV~
Kaida stumbled into the room a couple minutes later, his uniform jacket was off, and his shirt was unbuttoned, it was now stained red, blood running down his chest. He walked over and helped Arita out of their bed, leading her towards their bathroom and turned on the water for a bath. Faintly they heard the grandfather clock in the hall chime eight times.

"No cuts today. He went easy on you tonight." He murmured, holding his sister close as she stared blankly at the wall. Her body was lined with scars, some old, some more recent.

This was always her reaction after the usual session, tears running down her cheeks, but her eyes were dull, void of all emotion.

He turned off the water once the tub was filled and guided his sister inside of it, sitting behind her, washing her body, she couldn't do it herself when she was like this.

"Our fault." Arita muttered, her voice emotionless. "Our fault. It was all our fault."

"We couldn't of done anything." Kaida whispered. "It happened to fast for anyone to help her."

It was quiet after that, and soon, the water turned red around the two, and they had to get out, draining the water out of the tub. Kaida covered Arita up with a towel, grabbing some of the bandages from under the sink and wrapping it around his chest, covering the cuts up before the blood made any more of a mess.

Soon they were both dry, and Kaida helped his sister change into her night gown, laying her down on her side of the bed, after he did that, he changed into his own pajamas and got on his side of the bed, getting under the covers and grabbing Arita's hand.

"We'll be okay." He whispered.

"Our fault..."

"Shhh... It's time to sleep. Close your eyes and relax, tomorrow will be better."

Kaida felt her hand loosed around his, and listened as her breathing slowing down signifying that she was asleep.

Kaida smiled weakly, "Goodnight." He murmered, falling asleep.
