Aurora, after phoning her husband to let him know, had decided to stay a few nights at her brother's house. This morning she woke to a knocking at her door. "Aunt Aurora!" Sera shouted to her excitedly. "I'm coming, I'm coming," Aurora replied, still half-asleep. She opened the door to an overly excited ten-year-old who immediately jumped into her arms. "Hello, pumpkin," Aurora greeted her niece.

"Sera, it's five in the morning! What on earth are you doing up?" A tired Remus, coming around the corner, questioned mildly. Sera just laughed cheekily. Aurora smiled down at her niece happily, sighing as she made her way to the kitchen where she poured herself, Sera, and Remus a bowl of Phoenix Flakes, a wizarding cereal that had little bursting crystals inside. As they sat enjoying their breakfast, a Daily Prophet owl flew through the window. Remus immediately got up, paid the bird, then grabbed the paper and continued to eat. "Anything interesting?" Aurora asked. "Not really, just the usual," the werewolf replied as he scanned the front page. "Oh Godric... It says here Malfoy's done a raid." She froze. "Wh-where?" She stuttered, praying for him not to say Glasgow. He looked nervous. "Somewhere near River Clyde."

Aurora's heart plummeted at the news, her mind racing with dread and desperation. Tears welled up in her eyes as she fought to keep her composure. "Jack..." she whispered, her voice quivering with fear, "is he...?" She couldn't bear to utter the words, her worst fears threatening to overwhelm her.

He hesitated, his expression heavy with anguish as he grappled with the weight of his response. "I... I don't know," he murmured, his voice cracking with uncertainty. "It doesn't have many details, but... it doesn't look good." Time seemed to stand still as Aurora's breath caught in her throat, her thoughts consumed by the terrifying prospect of losing her husband.

Immediately, Aurora got up, grabbed her phone, and started to dial Jack's number. The phone picked up. "Aura?" A gravelly voice answered. She filled with relief. "J-Jack?" She whispered. "Oh, thank God, you're alright."

"Yeah, I'm alright, the house ain't though."

Aurora was confused. "What do you mean?"

"They blasted it to shreds... It's gone, Rora. We don't have a house, nor the funds to buy one."

Aurora's face fell. "Oh..." She was truly upset. They'd been living in that house for more than thirty years; it was sad to see it go.

Then the realization caught up with her. "We're homeless..."

Just then, she felt Remus shake her out of her daze. "Don't be an idiot, Aurora! You can stay here."

"Oh... No, no, we couldn't, no, it's fine really, we'll... Figure something out."

He shot her a look. "'We'll figure something out' really isn't very convincing, Rora."

She was conflicted. Finally, she sighed. "Oh... Okay, fine..." She looked at him with a gracious but teary smile, whispering, "Thank you."

When Sirius finally came down to breakfast, Aurora had already dried her tears and was ready to leave to pick up Jack. Sirius, having no knowledge of what had happened that morning, asked where she was going. She smiled. "I'm bringing Jack home." She opened the door and left, leaving Remus to explain.

When, after a two-hour-long car drive, Aurora finally got home—or, she supposed, what was home—she started looking around for any sign of her husband. As she walked, she realized just how bad the damage was. It looked like a war had been fought here. She stepped over the bodies of close family friends with tears in her eyes.

Finally, she heard a voice in the distance. "RORA!" it shouted. She looked over a mountain of rubble to see the tired but smiling face of Jack Thorne.

They pulled up to Remus and Sirius's house two hours later. "Jack... wake up, we're here." Jack had fallen asleep in the car due to the horror-filled night he'd had.

As they walked up the mud path, a big black dog greeted them. Aurora smiled knowingly. "Hello, Padfoot," she sighed. "Your brother has a dog? Cool!" Jack said excitedly. "Well... Not quite. Come on then, Siri, give Jack a heart attack," Aurora told her brother, exasperated. "Rori, what do you mean give me a heartat- AH," he got cut off as Sirius transformed from the lovable family dog, Padfoot, back into himself.

There, to her husband's shock, stood a grinning Sirius Black. "Wha-how-what- what was that?!?!" Jack exclaimed, still shocked. "That was magic. You see, my darling brother here is something called an Animagus. An Animagus is a wizard that can transform into an animal," Aurora explained, rolling her eyes at Sirius's antics.

Sirius held his hand out for Jack to shake. "Sirius Lupin-Black." Jack smiled. "Jack Thorne," he took Sirius's hand.

After Jack settled in, Sirius took him aside. "Listen, mate, I should have had this chat a long time ago. Unfortunately, that chance was stolen from me by my dear mother. But if you know what's good for you, you'll treat Rori right, okay?" He said menacingly. Jack immediately nodded his head, not wanting to get on the bad side of a wizard. "Good."

Aurora came around the corner and into the kitchen to see Sirius intimidating Jack and immediately stepped in. "Sirius, why are you pointing your finger intimidatingly at my husband?" She asked exasperatedly. Sirius grinned. "Just making sure he's treating you right, lil sis." Aurora sighed. "Sirius, we've been married for 55 years!"

I solemnly swear I am up to no good
