Chapter Eight

Lilith flashed a smile at Grian as he suddenly found himself having to dodge her dangerously close attacks. When he took out his own to defend himself, Lilith seemed to have deliberately allowed Grian to land a hit, causing her to stumble as she backed up in a false panic.
"Lilith!" Iskall yelled, Lilith gave Grian a smirk as she hid her sword and curled up into a ball, beginning to shake as she scooted away from Grian who was stunned in fear; his grip on the sword tightened as she saw Iskall's face fall looking at Lilith.
"Grian what did you do?" Iskall looked at Grian in confusion, as Stress rushed to Lilith, helping her up. Grian, still stunned in shock, spluttered out a mess of words; as he could hear Xavion cussing like a sailor. How he wished he could get Grian out of this situation.
"That was a bit rude," Lilith mumbles.
Iskall and Stress gave Grian a disappointed look, making Lilith smirk at this.
"Grian, that was not nice," Stress says in a stern tone, gently helping Lilith up. Grian just looked down, he could not utter a single word no matter how hard he tried. The sky darkened as it started to drizzle, Stress sighs and left first to bring Lilith to her base.
"Hey Grian, that ain't cool. I get that she appeared out of nowhere, try to be more welcoming? She is protecting us from the rogue watcher after all," Iskall softly says, this was not like Grian, but he only knew him for a week or so; thus conflicted on where Grian's moral stands but knew not to jump to conclusions yet.
Grian stayed silent as Iskall sighs, he patted Grian's shoulder lightly and took his leave. Grian slumped by the shulker boxes as the rain became heavier, a series of thunder could be heard booming loudly.
He shook his head, trying to look on the bright side as he returned to his hobbit-hole, his sweater soaked with the rain but quickly dried the moment he entered. Server magic. 'This would only happen once, right?' Grian thinks to himself as he unstraps the straps of the elytra, letting it gently fall onto the ground with a clank.
'Oh how naive that would be,' Grian bitterly chuckles to himself, catching an anxious look from Xavion.
"I hope you do realise I can read your thoughts Gri," Xavion blurted out without thinking. Grian shrugged, he had nothing to hide from Xavion, he was good at looking past people's facades and breaking past them with his brutally honest tendencies. Reading thoughts was not surprising to Grian.
Grian laid in bed, shifting uncomfortably at the pain he had in his abdomen. Xavion eyes widened as he asked Grian to lift his sweater, which he did reluctantly, showing a watermelon-sized purple burn.
"Wait, how-" Grian says in disbelief until he realised that it was when she tried to knee him in the abdomen.
"She is more powerful than I thought, she made a nasty burn," Xavion mumbles as he placed his hands on the burn, slowly trying to heal it.
"Could you speed it up?" Grian voice strained as he hissed at the pain. Xavion shook his head slowly.
"If I do, I may make the burn worse. I have to overpower the Watcher magic to heal the burn, and if I do it too fast, I am risking making the burn more painful and harder the next time to heal it with magic," Xavion explains, the burn was now a lighter shade of purple as the size slowly shrunk.
Grian nods in understanding, heaving a sigh of exhaustion as his safe space of a server was no-longer safe. She was here.
Xisuma looked through the server chat, scrolling through to see something unsettling that seems to pop up in the conversations. This has been going on for too long, and it seems that the complaints are not getting better. He really hoped it was just a spur of a moment kind of situation.
"What is up with Grian? He is acting all weird," He mumbles as he began to fly towards Grian's base. Xisuma looks at the builds the two builders had collaborated to build, along with the massive mansion that Grian has made.
"Oh, hey Scar," Xisuam greets him as he stumbles.
"Hello, Xisuma...Say, are you here to talk to Gri?" Scar says.
He nodded, Scar looked around before beckoning to Xisuma to follow him; Doc was there as he waited for Scar, he agreed, wanting to talk to Grian, as Scar seemed to be the closest to Grian as Mumbo was pretty busy with his own base but did drop by from time to time. Despite the sudden caution around Grian.
"Oh, hello X. Checking up on Grian? " Doc questioned. Xisuma nodded. Doc came over to pass something to Scar, and have been very interested in what was happening between the two relatively new players on the server.
"I'll knock..." Scar says as he walks up towards the door, there was no reply for a solid ten minutes, the three looking at each other confused. They walked into the house as it had an eerie feeling, Xisuma took the lead to look around.
"Eek!" Doc yelps as he drops the falchion that laid on the table, it clatters loudly as Xisuma takes a closer look at it...
"A Void weapon?" Xisuma's eyes widened, feeling the familiar aura the falchion emitting, he poked the handle to be met with searing pain, drawing back his hand immediately. He frowned, he has never been met with this type of power from a void weapon.
"W-What are you guys doing here?" They turned to see Grian by the door, his hair messy as he struggled to hold up a smile. He looked as though he was in a fight
"Gri, what happened to you?" Scar spoke up; Grian seemed to have ignored the question as he walked past them to pick up the sword that immediately morphed into a fingerless glove around his right-hand; the injuries healing.
The three went silent as Grian realised what he had done. He must have suddenly switched to autopilot. Grian looked around in panic before sighing, realising he would not be able to avoid this conversation.
"So...Care to explain?" Doc broke the silence, gesturing to the fingerless glove Grian now has on.
"It's–a gift given to me by a friend," Grian says chuckling sheepishly, Xisuma looked a bit sceptical while the two confused.
"And who may it be?" X raised a brow, it is not common to just give anyone a void weapon, and even more, he did not get hurt from holding it; remembering the stinging pain, he had when he only touched the hilt.
"An old friend of mine...He was the Admin of the server I was in before this," Grian put on a wistful smile, looking down slightly to keep up the act.
"Was he the...missing Admin?" Xisuma blurts out without a second thought, this got confused looks from Scar and Doc.
"Yeah, his name was Xelqua," Grian struggled to not break his act.
"X- Xel– can we, can we just call them Tequila?" Scar says, Xisuma raising a brow as Doc lets out a chuckle. Grian struggled to keep his act on because of the hysteric laughing fit Xavion was having for Scar having problems pronouncing his alias he went by, Xelqua.
"T-The Primal Admin?" Xisuma says in shock.
"Wow there, slow down, what is this...Admin thingy that you both are talking about," Doc butts in, not understanding anything they were referring to except for knowing that a Primal Admin is a big deal.
"Well, there was an incident where a Primal Admin named Xelqua disappeared on the server he managed, its name was the Evolution Server, EVO for short," Xisuma explains, the two nodded, considering what they were given.
"But, why do you not get injured from wielding the weapon? Doc apparently felt pain despite holding it with his mechanical arm, and Xisuma got hurt from just poking it," Scar says uncertain of what it was, Grian looked at them genuinely confused.
Grian scrunched his face in confusion.
"I don't know, I rarely use it as a weapon and usually leave it in my inventory," Well, it was half the truth.
"I see...Say Gri, what up with this?" Xisuma changed the subject, gesturing to the server chat.
"Dunno," Grian cast his eyes down, his voice became soft as he fidgeted with his glove unconsciously; leaning on the wooden wall behind him as the trio surrounded him. Scar is the least likely to hurt him, but Doc and Xisuma would make it close to impossible to leave as they are stronger than him physically.
"Well, she is here to help with the Ryder situation, be a little more understanding, will ya?" Xisuma sighed, not knowing how to exactly handle the situation.
Grian nodded silently, and the three left his base as Grian frowned as a being appeared behind him.
"Seriously letting her get away with it?" The throaty voice echoed in the hobbit hole.
Grian remained silent, morphing the glove into the sword as he impaled the wall next to the person behind him without much thought. The sword dangerously close to their neck.
"Not a very nice way to treat the person who saved you, Xelqua," He laughed, deep voice not affected by the danger he was put in.
"Ryder..."
