(Mariah's POV)

So the next day when we woke up we went further into the base and put Suigetsu in a water tank to heal him.  We all sat around listening to Suigetsu complain. Sasuke kept his distance from everyone.

"Why did you leave my sword behind!?" Suigetsu shouted.

"Cram it, Suigetsu! Be grateful we even brought you back!" Karin said.

I scoffed at what she said.

"We? We!? Call me crazy, but I believe you were knocked out too!"

"Yeah, because I was protecting you guys!"

I sighed at their bickering.

"You both protected us.......we're all very close friends." Juugo spoke up.

"Psh, friends." I thought.

"Fine....so Sasuke, are you really gonna use the bijuu's power?" Suigetsu asked.

"Maybe, maybe not......but whatever happens, I no longer need it." He answered.

"How come?"

"I've got a new power..one strong enough to obliterate Konaha." Sasuke thought.

I bit my lip at his thought. He's going to destroy the village. Sasuke reached over to get his water but he missed and it fell over. I gasped. I know what's happening to him.

"Something wrong, Sasuke." Karin asked.

Sasuke put his hand over his eye.

"No....nothing," He replied.

I knew that he was lying, I know what's wrong with him.

"What is it Karin?" Juugo asked.

"I feel someone's chakra outside.....we've been followed."

Sasuke and I then disappeared and reappeared in front of a guy from the cloud village. The others appeared around him but he remained calm because he knew his fate.

"Mariah, we're going to seal the Bijuu now." Madara's voice said.

"I have to go, it's time." I said disappearing.

I appeared next to Kisame.

"Now we wait for Pein," Madara said holding 'Bee'

"I see Sasuke got the job done." Zetsu said.

"Madara...." I started.

"Silence," He said turning to me.

I looked down keeping my mouth shut. I was trying to tell him that the person he was holding wasn't real. We then began the extraction of the bijju.

"It takes forever when there's only a few of us." "Just shut up and concentrate." Zetsu said.

As the extraction was taking place finally everyone noticed it. Bee poofed and turned into a tentacle.

"Looks like Sasuke messed up...." Kisame said.

"Ahahahahahah! A tentacle!!" "Don't laugh!"

"And that's what I was trying to tell you," I said.

"You knew!" Madara shouted.

"Yes I did, if it weren't for Taka and them getting in danger every five seconds then I would've been able to capture him. But noooo you just had to let them come along. When I realized it I couldn't go back because I was seriously injured since I was protecting them."

I then sensed that something was wrong. A lot of people were in danger. I left the room and headed towards mine. I changed into new special clothes with tons of pockets and grabbed every weapon I had. I strapped my sword to my back and ran out of the hide out. Kurayami was running right beside me.

"Kurayami, what's happening?" I asked.

"The village is under attack," She replied.

"Is it Pein?"

"Yes, many people are dying."

"We must hurry then."

When I got the village, I just stopped unmoving. Memories flooded through my mind but I had to push them back for now as everyone is in danger. Since it was Pein we were up against I activated my Renningan and summoned my paths. Three of them were girls and two were guys.

-Deva path-me which can manipulate attractive and repulsive forces.

-Asura path- Ryu which can summon weapons from his body such as swords.

-Human Path- Soma which can remove souls from the target whom they touch and read minds

-Animal Path- Yumi who can summon animals

-Preta Path- Kiyo who can absorb chakra

-Naraka Path- Kaku who has the ability of interrogation and restoration

-Outer Path- Kura who can revive the dead

"You guys go and protect the people of this village; if you encounter Pein or his paths you have my permission to kill them." I ordered.

They dispersed and started to save and help villagers. Kurayami and I went to look for Pein, it was hard for me to concentrate since I could see through the other paths eyes. As I was running I saw Sakura healing someone but a building was about to fall on her. I quickly ran to her and held up the building.

"Who- Mariah," She gasped.

"Sakura run, hurry." I ordered.

She grabbed the villager and got to a safe area. I let the building drop and went next to Sakura.

"Mariah, when did you get here?" She questioned.

"A few minutes ago, I told you this would happen. When I knew Pein was attacking the village I came right away. I have to go Sakura."

I disappeared and reappeared in Tsunade's office. I saw that she and the two elders were in the office with her. They turned towards me and got in a defensive position.

"I am not here to harm you." I assured. "Tsunade-sama you must protect the village from Pein."

"Who are you?" She questioned.

She looked into my eyes and recognized the Renningan. Her eyes widened at realization on who I am.

"M-m-Mariah," She gasped.

"WHAT?" The elders gasped.

"Correct, Tsunade-sensei please, Pein is very powerful and you must stop him."

"H-How are you alive?" She questioned advancing towards me.

"I was saved but I couldn't return until today. When I knew that the village was in danger I came right away to help."

"You're supposed to be dead!" The woman elder said.

"I was supposed to be dead a long time ago along with my clan. Isn't that right? My clan was suppose to kill me right as I was born but my parents didn't like that so you've been planning to kill everyone." I said glaring at them.

Their eyes showed shock and fear.

"You were afraid that I would become too powerful and attract attention. You were right, I am more powerful than ever because of my travels but unlike a normal shinobi I do not wish to seek revenge for I am above that juvenile thought. I wish to save my home and friends from the Akatsuki."

"I see, how did you know?"

"I sensed that something bad was happening, then Kurayami told me."

I noticed that the two elders left the room quickly in fear of me. I turned back to Tsunade.

"Tsunade this opponent is very powerful, I think that Naruto is the only one who can defeat him."

"How do you know so much about him?"

"There's no time for that, when this is over ask Kakashi. He knows the answer for he figured it out. I have to go now, I have to save Kakashi."

I appeared in front of one of Pein's paths blocking his way to Kakashi.

"Mariah," Kakashi said relieved.

"Kakashi, you deal with Pein. I'll deal with this guy." I said.

I made Chidori and aimed for the guy's head but he ducked. I looked over at Pain and saw him staring back at me.

"You betrayed us Mariah," He stated.

"I will protect this village no matter what." I said.

"Even after what they did?"

"Yes,"

"So be it."

The path took off his cloak revealing that he has six arms and different faces. He also had this sharp tail thingy like Sasori had.

"Ccccuuuuuutttteeee," I said sarcastically.

He ran towards me sending punches away which were hard to dodge. There were so many hands I couldn't keep up. One of his punches sent me flying towards Kakashi. I slid across the ground and watched as Pein held out his arm and pulled Kakashi and I towards the path. Kakashi took out chain and tied it a block thingy also grabbing me. Kakashi let go of it and I pushed him out of the way of the path's weapon causing my abdomen to be pierced by the blade. They thought that they were successful but I disappeared in lightning.

"Lightning shadow clone." The path concluded.

Two fists then crashed down on the path but Pain got away. Choji and his father then landed in front of us.

"That's one down, Kakashi."

"I had a back-up plan prepared but you just save me a whole lotta chakra. Good thinking Mariah, with the lightning clone." Kakashi said.

More ninja started to show up to our aid.

"Are you okay Kakashi?"

"Some-how," He replied.

"Kakashi how's your chakra level?"

"I only have about half my chakra left. Honestly fighting this type of opponent for a long time will be tough. However, I think I've worked out a little of his ability." Kakashi replied.

Pein then started to run towards us.

"Dad! Here he comes!" Choji said.

We all braced ourselves as they started to attack but Pain pushed them away. Kakashi threw a kunai at Pein which had a smoke bomb attached to it and we ran for cover.

"What did he do?"

"He deflects all attacks. He has the ability to pull and push things from his center it seems he controls gravity and repulsion forces. He doesn't seem able to use it in quick secession though. There seems to be an interval before he can use it again."  Kakashi answered. "Right Mariah?"

"Correct, this is too dangerous for you guys. He's too powerful; I'm the only one who can handle him at the moment." I replied.

"I have an idea, can I count on you guys?" Kakashi said.

"I guess but if any of you die don't say that I didn't warn you." I replied.

We got into position as Kakashi entered the ground. He appeared from under Pein with a kunai aiming it to his heart. It was too slow, Pain pushed him away.

"You move well. You have an array of jutsu. Failing to kill someone like you would mean trouble for me in the long run." Pein said.

Choji and his dad then rolled towards Pein with their human bolder jutsu. As they approached him he got ready.

"Too slow," He said pushing them away.

When they got out of the jutsu the chains from the ground came up and wrapped around Pein. I came up from behind Pein with my lightning enhanced sword ready to strike. Right as I was about to strike him his path came and took the shot for him. Pein then pushed us all away with such force. I looked around and saw that Kakashi was trapped, Choji and his dad were unconscious and I was trapped in the chains.

"Seems like you really can't move; seems like you're not a clone. Now I'll have you die; this is the end." Pein said walking towards a nail.

"Know Pain!"

"I can't dodge from this range." Kakashi muttered.

Pain through the nail straight at Kakashi's head.

"KAKASHI-SENSEI!" I shouted thrashing my body managing to get out of the chains.

Choji went to his dad while I ran towards Kakashi-sensei. I knelt next to him and saw that he was alive, the nail wasn't anywhere. Then he started to talk to Choji telling him that he shouldn't mourn for his dad. I was trying to heal Kakashi but the path was starting to get annoying.

"You sure are persistent.." The path said.

He released his weapons aiming them at Choji. Choji then started to run towards the Hokage tower. Just as the weapon was fired Kakashi used the Mangekyou Sharingan to send it away.

"NO KAKASHI-SENSEI! WHY DID YOU DO THAT! YOU'RE DYING!" I cried.

"Mariah.....I'm......proud....of.....you....please........save........Sasuke...." And with that.....he died.

"No," I whispered. "NO!" I shouted looked angrily at Pein.

"Once again Mariah, you lost someone important to you. You know true pain." Pein said.

I stood up and my paths appeared next to me as did Kurayami. She and I fused together giving me more strength and chakra. My paths all circled Pein while he stared at my new transformation but I wasn't done yet. I activated the curse mark and changed my right eye to the Sharingan while the other was still the Renningan making my appearance even more terrifying.

Yumi then summoned five giant panthers. She sent them to attack Pein which he barley dodged. As he was dodging them the rest of us were attacking him also. We worked as a team but with his Renningan we were evenly matched so there was no use in this. Plus he has more experience than I do with using Paths. I've never summoned them all before at once so I wasn't use to seeing everything that they're seeing. It was starting to give me a headache.

"Mariah, you and I both know that you're going to lose. You can't control them like I can with mine." Pein said attacking my paths.

"Shit, he's right." I thought.

I made them disappear to help the village so it was just me and him standing before each other. Each of them went to fight Pein's paths.

"You finally want to get revenge?" Pein questioned.

"No, I'm just protecting my village." I answered truthfully. "I don't want anyone to get hurt."

"Well then, let's begin." He said running towards me.

I braced myself for his moves. I took out my sword and advanced towards him. He took out one of his chakra receivers using it as a sword and lunged towards me. They clashed making sparks fly everywhere. He was stronger than me so he pushed me back but I stood my ground. I sent electricity into the sword causing it to into the receiver which Pein had to drop. He pushed me away but I also pushed him. We both were being pushed back because of the force. I sensed that he was also behind me so I lost focus which sent me back towards the one behind me.

He grabbed me then restrained me and stabbed my stomach. I struggled in his grasp as I ignored the pain and spread my wings to break free. My wings pulled us apart and I flew a few feet from him. I held up my hand and lightning bolts formed in them. I threw them all at Pein but he repelled them back at me. I quickly dodged them and rushed towards Pein. I went to stab him and landed a hit on his arm but he kicked me away. I landed on a kunai which stabbed my side.

"Shit, why am I so weak?" I thought.

I got my sword and shot it towards Pain but of course he pushed it away and came back to me.

"Shit," I cursed.

The sword's blades came flying back at me. I dodged the blades but one got my leg slashing it causing a deep cut. I winced but kept moving away from Pein as he got ready for an attack. I reached in my pockets for kunai and shuriken which had paper bombs and smoke bombs attached to them.

I through the weapons with the smoke bombs first so that Pein won't see the paper bombs. He dodged the kunai but when the smoke appeared he was more alert. I threw the paper bomb weapons and aimed around Pain expecting him to dodge them. Once he realized my plan it was too late. The bombs exploded all around him trapping him.

"Fire style: Fire dragon!" I shouted.

I breathed out fire which formed into a dragon going after Pein who fled from the debris. As my fire dragon flew towards Pein, I made a lightning dragon sending it the same way making Pain trapped. I made them go on both sides of Pain and they collided. The force was so strong that I got shot back and hit a pile of what use to be houses. I picked myself up only to feel pain in my stomach and leg. I looked down and saw that my wounds might have a chance of getting infected but I couldn't waste my chakra on healing myself. When the smoke cleared I saw Pein standing only with a few cuts and burns.

"You're weak Mariah," He said.

I stood up facing him.

"You're using most of your chakra on your paths; that's half of your chakra." He explained walking over to me.

"Shit, I knew I was forgetting something." I muttered.

My chakra level was low but I still had to do something. I got out my bags full with clay and made clay birds.  I shot an army towards Pein and once they were in position I made them explode. I thought that I was successful but I felt a stabbing pain in my arm. I looked behind me to see Pein holding his chakra receiver which was in my arm. I grunted in pain as he pushed it further, my lack of concentration and focus will lead to something dangerous.

Finally I couldn't resist the animal instinct anymore. I let it take over and my body took control of itself. I just simply watched everything that was happening but couldn't do anything about it. Everything was a huge blur but I distinctly remember attacking Pein with my claws and teeth. I was a wild animal out of control ready to kill him with blood lust in my eyes.

I remember making a hand sign that I hadn't made in a long time. Giant hands came out of the ground and were heading in Pein's direction. He got caught in one of the hands grasp. The hand turned into spikes and started to slowly close to penetrate through his skin. The spikes were almost inches away from him. I smiled a sadistic smile as I imagined his death. I looked closely at his face, before he was scared but.....he smirked. Before I could realized what had happened someone slashed my side and stabbed my lung.

My eyes widened and I coughed up blood. I turned my head to look behind me; the person who stabbed me was pain's path. My knees gave out and I fell to the ground in pain. Kurayami defused with me, the curse mark receded, paths disappeared, I had control again, and I was weak, exhausted, and all the pain that I was repressing now spread out through my body. The pain that I was feeling before intensified.

The hand that I summoned disappeared and Pain walked towards me. I couldn't focus; I could feel my heart beat in my ears. It was hard to breath and move; Pain just smiled at my pain. He kicked my stomach and then disappeared and I blacked out.

(Third Person POV)

 "Long time no see Tsunade. You're the only one left of the sannin." Pein said.

Tsunade sensed for Mariah but couldn't find her.

"Where's Mariah?" Tsunade questioned.

He was silent.

"WHERE IS SHE!"

"Dying," Pain said launching towards her.

*And yadda yadda yadda talk talk talk*

All of Pain's paths disappeared leaving the leaf ninja confused. Pain had something in store for the village. He floated about it with his hands in the air.

"Shinra Tensei!" Pain said.

A huge creator formed in the middle of the village pushing everything in its way back towards the walls. Mariah was down there, she was pushed back also against her will.

"Hurry back, Naruto!! Naruto, please!" Sakura shouted.

Suddenly there was a poof of smoke. Three giant toads appeared with a little toad and Naruto on top. Naruto looked around confused as he surveyed the area.

"Where are we?" Naruto asked.

"Where is the enemy!?" The frog asked.

A frog appeared and explained the situation to Naruto.

"This saves me the trouble of looking for you." Pein said.

From where she was Mariah smirked when she saw Naruto. Everyone who was still alive was relieved to see him. Pein summoned all of his paths getting ready to attack. Tsunade then stood in front of all of them. Pein sent one of his paths to her but before it touched her Naruto smashed him.

"There's no need to Konaha's Hokage to deal with the likes of these guys, you just go enjoy a nice cup of tea or something." Naruto said.

"Naruto," Tsunade said.

"Uzumaki Naruto," Pein confirmed.

"Let's settle this once and for all!!!!" Naruto shouted.

(Yeah gunna skip most of the battle cus I'm lazy like that hehe if you want to see it so badly then watch it)

Soon there was only two Pain's left. Pain pulled Naruto towards him and the other one grabbed Naruto from behind.

"Don't worry, I won't kill you. You're one of my precious hosts after all." Pain assured.

"Heh, this doesn't hurt! Don't underestimate me in sage mod! Now it's my turn." Naruto said.

Something was wrong.

"You're right...that would be troublesome."

The path that was holding Naruto was draining him.

"The nine tailed fox has been captured." Pein said.

"No," Mariah weakly said.

"Not yet....I'm not done yet." Naruto said.

"Quite the stubborn one, aren't you." Pain said.

Naruto smirked.

"The energy of nature isn't that easy to handle, you know!" Naruto shouted.

The path holding Naruto then turned into a frog.

"This is..."

Naruto broke free as the path turned to stone.

"Senjutsu chakra....it would appear to carry a fair along with its use."

"I guess it's just you now, huh?"

"Well, I wouldn't say that."

"What do you mean by that?"

"The Pein bodies you see here are mere puppets...It would appear that someone is manipulating them from the shadows...a final, real body.." The slug explained.

Soon the old frog jumped towards Pein but got repealed and got stabbed.

"I am already familiar with that genjutsu." Pein said.

Naruto rushed towards Pein but got punched to the ground; Pein stabbed both of his hands so he couldn't move.

"Naruto," Mariah said trying to get up but it was no use. She was losing too much blood.

"Will this make you a little more accommodating?" Peid said kneeling down towards Naruto.

"What are you?!!" What the hell are you, damn it?!! Why are you doing this?!" Naruto shouted.

(And blah blah blah peace war hate pain)

Pain immobilized Naruto even more by putting more chakra receivers in him. Then Hinata came to attack Pain but he jumped out of the way.

"Reinforcements eh?" Pain analyzed.

"I won't let you lay another finger on Naruto!" Hinata shouted.

"Damn, I didn't know she could shout and not stutter." Mariah thought.

"WHAT'RE YOU DOING HERE!!? GET OUT OF HERE! YOU'RE NO MATCH-!" Naruto started to shouted.

"I know," Hinata said. "I'm...just being selfish.."

"WHAT'RE YOU TALING ABOUT?? WHAT'RE YOU DOING HERE! IT'S DANGEROUS!"

"I'm here of my own free will. I used to always cry and give up...I nearly went the wrong way, but you showed me the right way...I was always chasing you....wanting to over take you..I just wanted to walk with you... I wanted to be with you...You changed me! You're smile saved me! So I'm not afraid to die protecting you!! Because I.....Love you..." Hinata confessed.

"Awe now that is just so sweet! She finally told him! If I wasn't dying right now I would soooo be cheering and if it were the right time." Mariah thought.

Hinata ran towards Pain but he blocked her attack and pushed her away.

"STOP!" Naruto shouted.

Mariah then used all of her strength to jump and kick Pain away. She landed next to Hinata to see that she was almost dead. Pein then got up and faced her.

"I thought you were dying." He said.

"Heh, I have a strong will." Mariah replied.

He then raised his hand and pushed her away towards Naruto landing on her back then he stabbed Hinata.

"Mariah..." Naruto started.

"Heh....look...h-how str-ong y...you are N-Naruto...H-hinata always..........loved you........I even.....noticed back then....Please....save...the...village..." Mariah said.

Naruto watched as the light left Mariah's eyes. She was gone.

(Sasuke's POV)

Something's wrong. I felt a pain in my heart like someone just died but.....the only one who is important to me is Mariah but she's with the other members.

"What's wrong Sasuke?" Karin questioned.

"I don't know, something feels......wrong." I answered.

"Yeah I feel it too, a pain in your chest?" Suigetsu asked.

"Yeah,"

"It feels like something happened," Juugo said.

"Now that I think about it, it feels like someone just died." Karin said.

The pain in my chest intensified; Karin is right, someone did die. And I think that the person who died was Mariah. I laid back down in my bed facing away from the others. I can feel it now, yes, Mariah died. I clutched my chest where my heart was. Good thing I wasn't facing the others or else...........they would see my tears...

(Mariah's POV)

With those words said I blacked out and saw a light. I knew that this time it was for real; I'm dead. I walked towards the light and saw the people close to me who have died. When I saw Itachi I ran up to him and gave him a big hug which he returned of course.

"Itachi! I missed you so much!" I cried.

"Shh Mariah, it's alright now." He said patting my head.

"I'm so glad that I finally got to see you again, but I never thought so soon."

"Me too, I thought that you would've lived longer."

"I didn't want to die so early but I needed to protect the village or at least stall until Naruto got back."

"You did a brave thing Mariah.........How's Sasuke?" Itachi asked.

I was silent.

"He........he knows the truth......He wants to destroy not only the elders but.......the whole village....." I replied.

"I see, I knew this was going to happen."

I felt people behind me who I once knew; my clan. I turned in their direction and saw my mother and father in the front followed by the clan.

"Mother.....Father...." I acknowledged.

"Mariah," They both said.

"What do you want?" I asked spitefully.

"To see if you were really dead.....now there are no more Kiras'." My father answered.

"Yeah well now you see so leave me alone. I don't have any more to say to you."

"We just wanted to say that we're sorry,"

"Sorry is just a word; it means nothing to me."

"We've been watching you Mariah; every single day of your life even after we died." My mother said.

"Stalkers," I muttered.

"Please hear us out Mariah,"

"I'm listening,"

"As we watched you grow up we realized that you were very powerful but you were in good hands at first so you were able to control the power. Even the demon that wanted to take control of you. When you went to the Akatsuki we were disappointed but we knew that you just didn't want to die. We then realized that we were scared of nothing, we saw how foolish we were. We love you Mariah and even if you don't believe us or forgive us just know that we still love you."

I looked at all of them and saw that they had apologetic looks and looked ashamed. They weren't lying but I still wouldn't forgive them.

"I believe you.......but I don't forgive you..." I said.

"That's good enough for us Mariah, we're very proud of you."

My parents walked towards me and embraced me. I was shocked; I didn't move an inch.

"We wish that we could've been with you growing up because we saw how miserable you were. We saw all the problems you had and the challenges that you faced alone. You've grown into a beautiful young lady Mariah and I'm glad that you changed for the better. Your team sure did change you and even that Sasuke boy. I'm glad that you found someone." My mother said.

"Yeah, I'm proud of you too Mariah. You're my little girl and I'll always love you no matter what." My father said.

That did it; I started to cry in their arms. I was so happy that they're proud of me. I looked at Itachi and saw him smiling down at me. My parents then let go and walked back to the clan. I then felt more people show up and saw Jiraiya, Asuma, and even the rest of the Akatsuki.

I smiled at all of them, they were my friends even though some of the members of Akatsuki wanted to kill me. Surprisingly everyone smile back at me but then I felt different. I looked at my hand and saw that I was glowing.

"Looks like it's not your time yet Mariah." Itachi said.

I saw Asuma walk up to me.

"Mariah, please tell Shikamaru that I'm proud of him and I'll be with him always. Tell Kuranai that I love her and my kid. Tell Ino and Choji that I am also proud of them." He said.

Then Jiraiya stepped forth.  

"Tell Naruto that I'm, very proud of how he's improved. I'm glad that he surpassed me and his father. I'll always be with him."

They all disappeared just leaving Itachi, my parents and I.

"Mariah, we hope you live a life with Sasuke. We can tell that you both love each other; send him down the right path." My father said.

He disappeared along with my mother. I turned to Itachi.

"This is goodbye Mariah; tell Sasuke that mom, dad and I love him."

Then it was black. I opened my eyes and saw light and felt pain. I saw that I was alive but the village was completely destroyed. I tried to stand up but I fell on my knees. I looked over to see Kakashi getting up without a scratch.

"Come on, how come everyone else who was revived isn't injured anymore but I am!" I whined.

Kakashi came over to me and picked me up bridle style. He dropped me off with Sakura and went to get Naruto.

"Sakura, please don't heal me. Heal someone who needs it."

Sakura helped me up as everyone went towards the gates to welcome Naruto back. I saw Kakashi carrying him on his back. Naruto looked EXHAUSTED! Everyone cheered saying welcome back. Naruto was stunned at everyone welcoming him; I smirked. Everyone was bombarding him with questions and surrounding him.

Sakura and I walked up to him.

"Sakura, Mariah!"

Then Sakura hit him; I laughed but then started to cough up blood.

"You're always so rash, dummy." She shouted.

But the she hugged him. Once she pulled away I also hugged him.

"I'm glad you're okay Naruto, you did something that I couldn't even do. I'm so proud of you!" I said with a weak smile.

"Mariah, you're bleeding." Naruto pointed out.

"Ah don't worry about me. I have a message for you though. When I died I saw a few people and one wanted me to give you a message. Jiraiya told me to tell you that he's very proud of how you improved and he's glad that you surpassed him and your father. He'll always be with you."

A tear fell from Naruto's eye. I walked away and went over to Ino, Shikamaru, and Choji.
