Chapter five

I walked up the stairs tiredly, Josh following behind me making sure I didn't fall back down. I kept yawning. Once we had cleared the stairs I quickly walked to the furthest door figuring it would be a guest room. I walked inside after saying goodnight to Josh, I went into the nearest draw and pulled out what looked to be a spare baggy t-shirt. I took my dress off and my heals quickly and put on the top, crawling into the bed.

I turned a lot to get comfy and soon enough I was out like a light.

I woke up in what seemed to be two arms. I went to get out of the bed but was pulled back in by the arms. Whoever it was, was snuggling into my back. I turned over to get a look at who it was and it was the last person I wanted to see.

Trevor.

No, no, no.

This was the guest room yet he snuck into the bed. How did I not wake up? Was I that tired? Was I that tired that I didn't hear him or feel him get in the bed or come in the room?

"Get off me." I said muffled by his chest.

"Sorry, what?" He asked with a hint of tiredness in his voice.

"Get off me." I repeated still muffled.

"What?"

"Get off-"

"I can't hear you."

"Then get off-"

"Stephanie shut up."

My eyes then grew wide. Stephanie? Who is that?

"Whose Stephanie?"

"You are."

"Trevor, I'm no Stephanie."

His eyes went wide open as he scooted off of me.

"Melanie?"

"Uh, yah," I said like Monica would off of the TV series Friends. I sat up and got out the bed. "Whose Stephanie?"

"She's the last girlfriend I had.." He mumbled. Well at least he told me.

"Trevor, I'm not Stephanie. I'm Melanie. Got that? Why're you calling me Stephanie?"

"It just came out."

"You had a dream about her didn't you?!" I exclaimed, realising what 'It just came out' really meant.

"Uh, no! I. I didn't. I p-promise! I swear I didn't!" He exclaimed loudly stuttering like a fool.

"You did too! You're not even over this Stephanie are you?!"

"I am too!"

"Oh yeah?"

"Uh, yah!" He mocked my quote.

"Firstly, don't you 'Uh, yah' me! That's only for me to use! Secondly, why're you not over your ex?!" I exclaimed, feeling my head spinning already.

"You was straight after her okay?! I never got chance to get over her!" He yelled.

"Don't you yell at me." I glared at him menacingly. He was giving me a headache making my head spin even more.

"Look, I'm sorry about everything okay?! I never meant for this to happen! When I brought you home I didn't realise you was going to blow my cover and besides I didn't even think about the girlfriend becoming my fiancée thing! I'm sorry I dragged you into this!" He yelled at me and I just looked at him shocked. "Is that what you- Melanie!" He yelled as my whole body lost balance and my vision became blurred and blacked out as I closed my eyes.

~Trevor's POV~

"Mom!" I yelled, trying to wake Melanie up. She had just collapsed in front of my eyes and had hit the floor pretty hard. I couldn't react fast enough and she's probably got hurt because of it. It's the second time she's nearly got hurt because I entered her life. "Mom!" I yelled louder trying to make her hurry up to get up the stairs. "Melanie, wake up!" I shook her hoping it would work, but it didn't.

I grabbed my phone and called the only number I could right now.

"What? Don't you know how early it is?" Josh said from the other end of the phone.

"It's 11am.. Anyway that's not important right now!" I panicked.

"What's wrong with you?"

"Melanie just collapsed! I don't know what to do, she won't wake up!" I panicked.

"Alright, just listen to me. You need to calm down, have you shook her?"

"Yes I have! Multiple times!"

"Okay, she has a frequency of passing out in the mornings mostly. Just leave her alone for now-"

"Leave her alone?! Are you nuts or something?!"

"Hey, trust me. She's my sister, I know how to deal with her when these times happen, I've been there most of the times she's passed out. Anyway, lay her down gently so her body is flat on the floor. Once you've done that just sit by her for a couple of minutes and count her every breath for at least two minutes. Make sure she's breathing okay and I'll be there soon. Do not panic whatsoever, it won't help her. She may not look like it but she can hear you."

"Okay." I said and hung up doing the steps he had told me.

I sat by her and watched her breathing for two minutes, that seemed fine. I checked her pulse by her wrist and it seemed normal. My mom came in and saw her and nearly screamed.

"You took so long that I called her brother. He's coming round. You can't panic if your going to be in here. She's only passed out. He said she has a frequency of this in the mornings mostly but really it can happen any time of day. He said that I needed to lay her flat on the floor and sit with her whilst counting her breaths for two minutes. Panicking won't help her cause she can still hear us," I told my mom and she had the you've-gone-officially-insane look on her face. I put my hand on her forehead. "You're a bit hot Melanie but you're going to be fine, Josh is the way over." I told her.

Fifteen minutes later, Josh arrived and came up to my room. He knelt down beside his sister and took off his bag and opened it.

"How many breaths?" He asked whilst rummaging through his bag.

"30 in two minutes."

"That's about normal. Have you calmed down?"

"Yes."

"How're you with needles?"

"Needles?"

"Yes, I'm about to get one out."

"I'm fine with them," I turned to my mom. "Mom however isn't good at all with them."

"Ma'am may I ask you to leave then?" Josh asked.

"Of course."

My mom left and Josh tightened a piece of cloth round her left arm which was closest to him, he then pulled out the needle.

"If it makes you uncomfortable I'd advise you to look away. It's going to go in her."

"What is it?"

"It's an Epinephrine injection."

"Which is?" He started to insert it into her skin.

"It's an adrenaline injection basically. It's going to get her heart pumping really fast and she'll wake up. Don't worry, it's worked multiple times before. Do me a favour get a cotton bud out of my bad and stick to the sticky tape and pass it me quickly."

I grabbed his bag and did as he said as quickly as I could.

"Hurry please Trevor."

"It's not as easy as it looks."

I finally did it and handed him it and he removed the injection from her arm and put the bud on the injection wound instantly. He removed the cloth and we waited a couple of seconds before she woke up.

"Hey." I said to her.

"Hey." She said back.

She tried to sit up then and Josh pressed her down.

"Melanie, relax you've just had an Epinephrine injection and your supposed to lay still for a couple of minutes."

"But I get restless."

"I will make Trevor sit on you if you don't lay down on your own."

"Ugh fine." She groaned and laid still after Josh had leaned back from her.

"You scared me numpty."

"Why?"

"Well you just collapsed and I didn't know what to do. I was panicking, but your big brother was here to help just in time."

"He always is. I'm one of the reasons why he doesn't do anything."

"No, your not."

"Dude, you should become a doctor. You'll rock at it."

"I told you I'm not the only one who thinks that!" Melanie exclaimed.

"Alright, I'll become a doctor."

"Good. You'll be doing something for once in your life." She smiled.

"Alright, no need to get personal Mel." He smiled back.

I then caught eye of a red substance trickling down the side of her head. I reached out and touched it and she looked at me, I pulled my hand away and look at it.

"You're bleeding." I told her and she seemed dazed.

"I don't feel anything though."

"That's the adrenaline getting to you." Josh told her and I stood up and put my hand out for her to take.

She took my hand and I led her over to the drawers that we were closest to. She leaned against them and I looked around for some cloth.

"Josh you got anything to help?"

"Sorry no, I just came with the injection things."

"Alright." I mumbled and took off my top.

Her eyes travelled down to my chest as she touched my six pack amused. I shrugged it off and dabbed the blood with my top.

"You work out?"

"Of course I do, baby. Got to keep my shape now haven't I?" I smirked at her.

"Well, I'll be downstairs then." Josh said and headed out.

"Hey Josh," I said just before he reached the door and looked at him. "Thank you, you really saved me this morning."

"I'd do anything for my baby sister." He said with a smile and walked out.

I looked back to Melanie and she was looking at my chest still. I dabbed near to her hair and she winced and gently grabbed the side of my trousers I had on. I chuckled and she looked up at me. She really had beautiful eyes.

"You're eyes really do have a nice glisten to them." I told her.

"Shut up." She mumbled embarrassed as she turned a hint of red.

I chuckled and smirked at her.

"You're wearing my top." I told her.

"You're top? This is the guest room?"

"No, it's my room." He laughed at me.

"Oh. That would explain why you were in the bed with me earlier then."

"Yeah."

"Thank you for worrying about me." She suddenly said.

"It's fine, it was just a shock."

"It wasn't just that though.. Was it?"

"It was just a shock and that's all it was."

I couldn't stop looking down at her lips as she talked, they were asking to be kissed I swear. I found myself leaning down towards her soon enough and she stood there looking at me. It was as if she was trying to process what I was going to do. As soon as I was going to make contact with her lips she looked away making my lips connect with her cheek. I leaned back and she stayed looking away.

"I'm not kissing you until you're over that Stephanie girl." She told me and walked out of the room.

This girl was going to make me crazy.

No, this girl is going to make me crazy.
