1+1=Two of a kind

I opened my eyes, to hear many concerned voices, to look at those concerned looks. I was on a huge king sized bed, covered up in the softest satins.

Prithvi and his mom were sitting on the bed either sides.

"Nivi" he said as I opened my eyes. Wow! I can just spend my whole life hearing him say that.

"You really passed out after you hear your wedding announcement?" he asked in utter surprise. I was embarrassed.

"Chup kar! Nivi beta, theek toh ho na tum?" his mom asked.

"Ji Maa, theek hoon" I said.

"Doctor abhi aathe hi honge" she replied.

"Uski koi zaroorath nai hain, bas thoda chakkar aa gaya tha aur ab theek hoon" I said but to deaf ears.

After like 10 minutes, the doctor was here. He said it was just weakness after listening to all my symptoms.

"Take rest for a while" Prithvi said getting up. I didn't need rest, are it was just a chakkar. Big deal, I have had many of such.

"I am fine" I tried protesting.

"Prithvi beta, tu iske saath baith, hum log jaathe hain" his mom said getting up. And now it was just the two of us in the room.

"So" he said.

"So?" I asked.

"Ready for becoming Mrs. Prithvi? I can't wait, like not for a single moment" he said.

Could he close his eyes for a while, so that I could blush at my heart's content?

"Uhmm Nivi, I wanted to ask you something, in fact know your opinion about something" he said.

"Poocho na" I said.

"Are you okay with a court marriage?" he asked.

Well, I didn't expect this question from him. I thought he needed a grand wedding.

"Court marriage?" I asked.

"Yes, mummy pappa kundli mein nai maanthe hain, and then there's no point of putting a mahurat, so a court wedding and a post wedding reception party at home, what do you think?" he asked.

"I do not have any such reservations, in fact there aren't people who would anyway be attending the wedding from my side, I think it's a good idea" I replied.

"Okay then, tomorrow morning?" he asked.

"So soon?" I said surprised.

"Kyun you need time?" he asked.

"No no, I didn't mean that, Prithvi, do you really think I deserve being your wife? Being the daughter-in-law of Kapoors?" I asked still in doubt.

"Do you think I deserve being your husband?" he asked in return.

"In every possible way" I replied.

"Then when you are so sure about me, how could you doubt yourself?" he asked.

"You ought to be here in every possible way too. You know I love my mom so much, when I say so much, I really mean so much. And the only thing she expects from me to get her is a good bahoo for this house, for this family, and no one can be any better, but you" he said. Infact convinced me.

"I never had a chance to experience so much happiness at once, in such a grand size, so I have my doubts" I said.

"And I am always there to solve them for you" he replied holding my hand. This, at that moment felt so good.

"We'll go down?" he asked.

"Sure" I replied getting up.

"Hey wait, here are Di's clothes, change kar lo. Your dress looks to heavy and ya you are staying here for tonight" he said.

"No no, it's fine" I was trying to speak, when he already walked past me, and closed the door.

"See you in five" he said from the other side of the door.

It was a simple kurta and a Patiala. I quickly changed into them and joined the family downstairs. They were all sitting in the living room and preparing the guest list.

Prithvi asked me if I wanted to invite someone. I had just a few friends from college, and may be they would be all.

Thanks to me passing out, none of us had dinner at the party. So the maid served food for everyone and we had a family dinner. It felt so good, being part of this family. From tomorrow officially.

Next morning:

Their marriage was scheduled at 11 AM.

Prithvi in white shirt, paired up with a dark blue jeans and dark blue blazer and me in a white chudidar, accompanied by his family, I mean our family were waiting at the registrar's office, and now finally it was our turn.

"Miss Nivedita" the registrar called out for me. I stepped ahead, grabbed the pen, and put in my initials. And now was his turn.

His sister, and one of my friends did the witness signatures. I could see the happiness in the eyes of my in-laws.

"Mrs. Nivedita Kapoor" his sister said and gave each of us a garland. So, it had the thing of Indian wedding in it, though it was a court marriage.

"Congratulations" Prithvi said, extending his hand.

I took hold of it, "Congratulations to you too" I said.

"So, a new beginning. I promise to give you the best time ever, for the whole life" he said. Such a sweet promise.

And then we posed for a picture together.

-----------------

Life after getting married changes a lot. It's been two days, new house, new people, new traditions, new responsibilities. I wasn't sure how I would be able to cope up with them, but then I had the most supportive family.

It is the day of our reception today.

We were so busy yesterday with office work, and didn't have time to choose our outfits. Late in the evening, we went to a nearby mall, and picked up some nice Indian wear. I chose an orange lehenga choli, while he was going to wear a purple sherwani. It was going to be Indian style, so Indian clothes.

Prithvi's POV:

Haah! Finally I get a chance to speak up and let out my feelings.

What do I say now? Things happened so fast, mathlab theen saal gaadi start bhi nai hui aur achaanak ek dum se highway pe chadh gayi, that's how I feel right now. Marriage and then this reception, in a span of just two days.

I really wonder how she could make up her mind for it. When dad and mom proposed for the court marriage I wasn't sure if she would be okay with it, but luckily she was.

The only thing I have been doing all these two days, is watching our Marriage certificate.

"I was least interested in checking my office files, or reading a novel. I was just reading that marriage certificate over and over again.

April 26th is our day.

Miss Nivedita and Mr. Prithvi appeared before me on the26th of April, and have declared that a ceremony of marriage has been performed between them

Those lines kept me captivated for hours and hours. I was reading it again, when the bathroom door knob clicked and a magic happened.

If time ever stood still for me, it was at that moment.

She was looking like a princess, in that orange lehenga, huge pair of heavy ear rings dangling down her ears, and her neck bearing the mangalsutr, a simple one.

At that moment, I was really sure that no one in the whole world could look more beautiful than how she was looking right now.

It was time for me to give my gift.

I handed her a small bag. She was confused.

"Dhekho toh kya hain us mein" I said and she opened the bag, took out a dark blue velvet box.

Was it the glow on those diamonds or the glow on her face that was shining brighter?

"This is so beautiful" she said running her fingers over it.

"May I" I asked. she turned, her back facing me. I hooked up the necklace around her thin neck line, it covered up the thin mangalsutr already.

"Can things get any better?" I said referring to the necklace.

"They can, but they can never worsen" she replied with a smile.

We stood infront of the mirror, looking at each other.

"I love you Prithvi" she said.

Oh my god! My heart skipped a beat, listening her say that and seeing in her eyes.

"I love you too" I said.

Holding her by her waist, I turned her to face me, and leaned close to her face.

I was just a few inches away from her face when, "Prithiviiii" I heard my sister call me.

"Kya timing hain iski" I said and she smiled.

Giving her a quick kiss on her cheek, "Jaldhi aao, I am waiting downstairs for you" I said and she nodded in a yes.

---------------

Prithvi's sister and mother helped her come downstairs.

Everyone who was busy until then congratulating Prithvi and complementing him, now turned their heads to see one of the most beautiful brides, walking down.

Prithvi walked to her, and offered his hand. She held it and they came and stood in the center of the hall, and music started playing.

Main Wari Jaawaan..

Main Wari Jaawaan..

Sathhoya Ki Ho ya ae kasoor Re...

Rab Di Marzi hai...Apna yeh Milna...

Barsa hai Hum pe...Uska Noor...

Piya O Re Piya...

Piya Re Piya Re Piya..

Piya O Re Piya...

Piya Re Piya Re Piya..

----------------

The song ended, and their beautiful journey started...journey for a lifetime!
