Chapter 4

So this is what I imagine Kaelyn to look like, but you can imagine him any way you'd like. (Tyler Clinton is BAE😅😝)!!! I had an optional presentation in class today and I decided to present (it was singing), and my hands were sweating so much because I freak out when I have to present. Why would I do it then? Cuz I love singing. I'm such a complete idiot.

Three days. I'd been running for three days now. I'd since shifted out of wolf form. My wolf was too exhausted after being rejected and forced to run so hard. I'd passed through multiple pack territories, and I'd almost been caught a few times, but I'd always managed to slip away unscathed. Until now that is.

I'd stopped in what I thought was a neutral area between packs to get a drink and hunt a little. I didn't realise that I was in fact on pack territory and that there was a wolf watching me a few yards away. Exhaustion kept me from noticing the obvious stalker.

Seconds after I slurped up a few mouthfuls, I was tackled to the ground. The claws of the wolf dug into the skin of my shoulders, and I let out a scream. I was terrified. I had never had the chance to completely finish my training, much less learn how to fight a fully grown wolf. The wolf grabbed the back of my neck and all of a sudden I hear a voice say, "Shift!" in my mind. I froze for a second, marveling at this wolf who could force his thoughts on those not in his pack.

I forced myself into a shift, and let myself fall limp underneath him. My wolf didn't have to energy to try to fight off another wolf and she let out a long whimper. When he realised I wasn't going to try to fight him off, he stood up and mind linked me."Get up before I kill you. We're going to see the Alpha, and if you try anything I will kill you."

I stood up on shaky legs and followed him tentatively. I prayed that the Alpha wasn't too far away because my wolf couldn't walk that far. She was already trembling, and we had only been walking for two minutes. We might not even last five. The other wolf was walking at a pretty normal pace for a werewolf, yet I was struggling to keep up.

Thankfully, the pack house was only a ten-minute walk away. By the time we got there, I was panting and struggling to take another step.I silently cursed Blake for doing this to me. My wolf could barely walk because of him and I would never forgive him. When we got inside I immediately shifted and fell to the ground sobbing. I hated myself. I hated how weak I was. The wolf that had led me here had shifted by now, revealing a toned man with blonde hair and bright blue eyes. He was looking at me curiously, his eyes sparkling in the light. I ducked my head down, trying to keep my tears hidden from him. I had to be stronger than this. I was a wolf. I may have been rejected. I may be pathetic. But I was a wolf and I had to hide my weakness.

When I was done crying, I looked up. The man was gone, and in his place was the Alpha. He looked down at me with his head slightly cocked to the side. Not confused, but contemplating. I scrambled to my feet and ducked my head down. "I'm sorry Alpha, I didn't hear you come in," I said timidly.

He waved his hand dismissively. "I'm Alpha Kaelyn, and you have trespassed on Jaded Star pack territory. Do you have any explanation for yourself?" I shook my head quickly. I couldn't believe I'd trespassed on Jaded Star territory. They weren't any more powerful than any other pack, all packs had about equal amounts of power, but they were a close neighbor with the Grey Opal Pack. My old pack, the Black Moonstone Pack, had a lot of history with the Grey Opals, and it would be best for me to try and stay away from them.

"What's your name?" Kaelyn asked me. My head snapped up. I'd forgotten about him in my thoughts.

"Magnolia...Maggie" I whispered. "I ran away from the Black Moonstone Pack after my mate rejected me. I promise not to cause any trouble. I'll leave and I'll never come back. I promise." It all came out rushed and what I thought was unintelligible, but he seemed to understand it all.

"You don't have to leave. I will provide you with sanctuary here. You will be on probation for five months and if you follow all the rules and don't cause any trouble, then I will accept you into the pack. I'll have my beta Michal lead you to your room." He then turned around and walked out. The beta, who turned out to be the original wolf, led me to a beautiful room with a large bed covered in plush blankets.  I turned around, giving him a small smile and thank you, and then collapsed onto the comfy bed. Maybe life wouldn't be as horrible as I thought it was.
