To Experience: Welcome To Konoha
Surreal, confronting such a sight was a symptom of the universe Naruto had never contemplated- envisioned himself beholding. There was constructing occurring from where he was jumping across the branches, that of the very buildings and markings he had grown up knowing as staples of his village. Yet, in gazing he could also see the foundations of unfamiliar structures- perhaps what had been already demolished in his time, or perhaps it was a product of this alternative reality. Discomfort was already implanted within the base of his spine, spinning mentality as he was still comprehending his new anatomy- and he had not yet sat to contemplate such change; there had been no time to do so. This, the sight of a far more deconstructed version of the village he had known was a snag onto the string of understanding he was barely grappling with- the river of his thoughts was harsh and rapid already. They landed on the pathway towards where the front of what he had known the gates to have been. That too was only within the beginning of becoming a path, it was formed merely by trampled grass and was far thinner then what he had known.
"Be prepared, we do not know our circumstance- there is possibility we will not be welcomed, slim though that may be." Though he was ready to follow those instructions, Naruto's brow was pinched with both disconcertion and umbrage. "You will be silent, I will speak." Though Madara paid no heed to the minor glower cast his way as he walked slightly ahead- the marrings on his back, by the intensity of his vibrating nerves- seemed to be all the more prominent unto Naruto. There were no walls surrounding, but there was a clear distinction that this was an occupied area, guards were stationed within the trees- though he could sense no chakra from them, Naruto did know they hung in wait. Two men stood at the fore, both in light cloth with the tones of green and brown, with brown hakama and dark green haori, on their hips were simple katana. Their hair cut short above the shoulders.
While unreasonable the blond found himself squirming mentally as they turned to look; Naruto had never gone on a true stealth mission, so the feeling of apprehension he typically felt was due to potential violence in the village- that was not life risking. No one reached for their weapons, no tension creased their shoulders, though their stares were hard enough to be cautious with.
"Madara-sama, welcome back." Despite the plain relief unto both of them with the other man being recognized, the Uchiha spoken of did not give an indication of ease. No sign of a calmer palette- Naruto stood behind though he was well aware a stoicism remained firm on the man's visage. One of the guards looked directly onto himself, and the blond did stiffen with the sharp sting of his glare. Yet, that cutting expression did not stay for long at all- indeed the express became softened, lines loosening around the brow, a gentle tilt at the corners of the mouth taking it away from an irate frown. Naruto tilted his head for confusion of the shift, alas the man did not direct his question onto him; rather he turned to Madara.
"An Omega?" Unfortunately, Naruto could not control his initial reactions onto sudden information and keep blank expression when confused, and his face scrunched up in uncertainty- though it was hardly a concern as neither guard was glancing his way. Which had the man at a slight unease, even if he had come with a respected figure, would he not at least be observed with skepticism? Cerulean eyes shifted quickly to his companion in bid for understanding.
"Yes, abandoned by his clan." Impressed by Madara's ability to sound so assured without a margin as to what they referred, the blond almost gapped in open wonderment for the skill in the lie- he refrained however. Though he was nary saddened by the comprehension he was not infact insulted, nor indeed, disheartened by the lie; for he had been abandoned by his clan- the village was no longer his family. Presently it was only a matter of adapting to this new life, without presenting as an odyssey- in truth, Naruto was more concerned for his companion then himself, Madara would have social expectations behind himself- a history within this land as to whom he was, how he acted. The blond knew such scrutiny would not land on his shoulders as hard as it would upon the Uchiha beside him.
One of the guards clicked his tongue, "disgusting, leaving a helpless Omega to the lands." That bit into the fraction of his pride still standing, a knash onto burnt skin that stung and seeped puss, though he remained ignorant as to what he had been called in title- reference to being him being helpless was not an injustice he could take with lightened step and passive express. Perhaps his indignance was easily shown for he was glanced at with a placating smile, sympathetically cast with softened expression and portrayal of one innocent. "I mean no disrespect Omega, you must be very audacious to have survived without the comfort of protection."
Naruto's fists still balled fast with such words, their attempt to be conciliating only bashing against the resolution of Naruto's own personality. The man's eyes drifted downward, a furrow in his brow, though little stopped the blond from slamming his foot into the mans opposite his own, the presence of his companion's heavy gaze weighed him enough not to try. "Are you injured?" The blatant bloodstain down the front of his pants must have spoken loud. It was embarrassing, but he looked to Madara for clue as to what might sound best.
He was spoken for instead, an odd comfort for someone to speak for him, as it never had been one before- presently however, it was so. "It is from an old injury, the wound has healed." The blood had dried enough for such an escuse to fly, though Naruto was still wary on wether or not they might consider further investigation. With an unassuming nod, the guards regained their proper positioning, and they were allowed pass- obviously the village lay further in as nothing was apparent on foot from the path they travelled, it had only been within the trees that they'd seen those unfamiliar structures which made the blond nervous. He knew nary nothing of what he was entering.
"Listen to me." Naruto flicked his gaze upwards, juvinilly hoping that he may present a complete reassurance that they were not walking towards death. "The only aspects of which we can assume is an individual's name, I would say sex in addition- yet of that I am uncertain." In an unusual show of inner conflict Madara's brow was pinched as he stared ahead- it was difficult with his hair being so long and matted down with blood and grime- but Naruto could see as much from its awkward positioning because of the grime coating it. "Our own genitals have changed for example, I can only imagine to fit that which exists here. You possess mixed genitalia now, whereas I do not- biological sex may be constructed differently here." Naruto swallowed for that reasoning, a heavy clog in his throat, he had accepted that things would change once they arrived in this new place- he had even imagined himself made out of water, but the idea of biological sex changing hadn't occurred to him. It was vague but a memory sufficed in his mind of the academy, anatomy class- one which he had skipped several times and been dragged back by an irate teacher whom was not in the mood for games -he ignored the prickling in his eyes at the memory.- There had been a lesson speaking of people with mixed gender, though it hadn't been a common occurence, there had been many health complications due to their unique genitalia; but he had never payed much attention to the concept.
In crossing the threshold of trees his expectations were shifted, though he hadn't known what to hold as expectation- and had been just allowing his mind to come up with random imagery. Seeing construction clearly in progression, many buildings still only of wood. The people immediately attracted his attention, from what he was accustomed to they were dressed nigh rich. Several men and women were dressed rather casually with simple yutaka a katana somewhere on there person, with basic braids, short, practical hair styles. Or simple dark knee length robes, frequently with collars peeking around their chins which Naruto found very familiar. There were also those who wore more beauticious kimono seeming all prim and proper.
Others however, dawned clothing which was so fancy Naruto could only draw a comparison to the rare few weddings he had spied on in the past. Even then this was considerably different. These people wore flowing material which brustled with each wisp of wind, starting to flare out were it was tapered just below the breast area or for some just above, many different designs on the fabric small and large flowers, doves, cranes, vines and leafs. Some of those in such a dress wore long -what appeared similar to henfu to Naruto- but far longer in general length and at the sleeves, Naruto considered it rather impractical for fighting, others had a semi-transparent shawl around their elbows. Their hair, as their clothes, much the opposite of their simple counterparts, all of their hair was long though some were held high with flowers and custom made cloth decorations made to look like delicate jewlery, others wore their hair long but which had equally extravagantly done with many decorations.
He blinked with his surprise, attempting to assure himself that he was in fact, not imagining it. In truth, Naruto had never really seen any really traditional clothing, not much further then those worn at a wedding ceremony, and even then, many in his time forwhent tradition for modern styles. The Hyuuga being the only ones he could think of which followed the old ways rather stringently, according to Neji anyway. The blond hadn't expected to see those clothing himself and from what he did know, this style was quite a bit different to that he had seen. He supposed, if this reality was close enough to his own- some of the traditional customs would be as well. He dared to glace at his counterpart, a slight nervous to see that the man was doing much the same as he, albeit, much more discreetly, his irises were flickering in evaluation, and as they did he would tilt his head just slightly to that direction to better see.
Naruto squirmed, scratching at the side of his neck. "So what now? Where do we go?" He whispered it as best he could, trying to move his lips little, all too aware of the eyes staring at them. He was rather used to harsh stares, but these were in curiosity- in observation, there was no malice not truly, some glares he could feel at his back, but far fewer then he was accustomed to. Which was just the issue, he wasn't adapt to people not casting him hate through their eyes, the simple dismisal of his presence after a quick hate filled glance was normal. A continual evaluation had discomfort dancing in his stomach. They were walking slowly and the longer they spent doing so was slowly increasing his want to run through the streets until he reached their destination. Madara's brow twitched eversoslightly, but it was enough for Naruto to recognize, because the man already wore a frown. Though he appeared rather stoic, the ideal persona for a shinobi, Naruto recognized the brow tick- even if it meant something different from what he'd known from his former teammate.
"What's wrong?" It meant an irritation, a confusion, or in worse cases an uncertainty. Madara breathed deep, his chest expending and held for longer then necessary.
"You are a newcomer, and we are both injured, yet not one person has begun infusing chakra." Becoming disturbed, Naruto put almost his attention to the man walking beside him.
"No one? Not even the guards?" Very subtly Madara shook his head. Naruto stared ahead, he knew he wasn't very well suited for deduction outside of a fight- often missing small details and dismissing important clues. Jiraiya had been trying to drill it into his head, the craft of espionage and simple observation, but he was used to charging full tilt into a battle, he was built as a powerhouse. Therefore, stealth as a skill; he had never seen as necessary for himself. However, even he knew that such a reception was suspicious, either they were truly not considered any type of risk, or this was a trap of sorts- as a trap it would be extremely dangerous- there were many people surrounding, and though it was a time of war, and the blond knew that not everyone in the new village could be fighters. It made him tense, now on edge for a very different reason then curious eyes.
"Madara! Back so soon!" There came a full belly laugh, large and boisterous, jovial however, and in turning Naruto recognized the unmistakable form of the first Hokage. He smiled for the sight, even if the man didn't know him he was still a welcome sight, though cerulean eyes were caught on the very beautiful pale green homongi the man wore- white flowers branching up from the bottom, his hair too was decorated with white lilies and was in a large braid pulled over his shoulder.
Further, and Naruto's brows rose to his hairline at this sight. The former -present?- Hokage wore a grease over his lips and his eyes were lined with kohl fully over his top, a white line of powder curving elegantly upwards matching the shape of his eye underneath . He still retained his intimidation, but only through his considerable height -far lesser then Madara's now, that be it as it were however, he appeared far more... tender then the man Naruto had seen on the battlefield. Kind brown eyes rested on both of them as his laugh faded, a smile on his lips- and truthfully Naruto was reminded of Iruka's disposition when he was happy- a tranquil expression which illustrated peace somehow. And the sight made the young shinobi choke a little, lip shaking and attempting to retain the tears threatening to come forward. Emotions swelling forward with the sight of such a familiar expression, on such a similar visage.
"It was necessary." Those same warm eyes rested on him with a brightness Naruto had most certainly not seen in the war. Wondering if this was how the man was truly.
"You found a beautiful Omega wondering did you?" Once more a great smile stood proud on the carmel face, for eyes so dark they shimmered so bright- and shone as amber in the sun. Naruto did laugh a little loudly as Madara was then shoved to the side and the shodai took his spot, however the man leaning over slightly their noses nearly touching, observing in a way that had Naruto raising his hands in caution, a smile which was not solid twitching his lips.
"And who might you be?"
"Ah, Naruto?" Two quick, and rather too seriously expressed nods came from the man as he stepped back a fraction, the blond breathed a little easier with the return of space.
"You are rather young Naruto-kun?" It took a moment of confused twined express before he understood that it was a question and not a statement.
"Um...sixteen?" In a world where children died regularly, Naruto couldn't tell if that was young- a thought which he attempted not to linger on. Briefly, he stared to Madara standing by the side, and through blue eyes he attempted to convey a pleading for aid. However the man was far too busy pinching the bridge of his nose to glance at him, this caused a pout, unnoticed, by the contemplative brunet infront of him- seemingly ignored for that moment as he was. Though in duer course, Naruto brought his attention to the man, hand resting on his neck- wanting to scratch as oak eyes bore into his own.
"A good age, a good age! I am hardly past that age myself!" A loud laugh followed onto his own statement, that is, exclamation. Though it was foreign the newcomer found himself smiling for the bright disposition displayed, finding a comfort in the similarity the man had onto himself. Though he wondered a slight on his age, a lingering thought which his companion did not fail to notice. Black eyes snapping to evaluate the brunet as his laughter ebbed, a small narrowing of sharp eyes and a sweeping gaze up and down the energetic figure. This was true, though without it weighing as heavy on his mind Naruto payed little scrutiny onto the fact, he knew little of the former Hokage as it were, indeed he did not even truely know what age the shodai had taken office. That was of course a product of his own design, ignoring the predominance of the village history course while in the academy as he had- there were pranks to be done after all.
"You have kept well for yourself Naruto-kun, I say, I would not survive long outside the comfort of mine clan surrounding me. Although my wits might aid me well- I possess a great deal more then most Omega I tell you!" His laugh was a fraction quieter as he lent once more into the befuddled blond, a whisper coming from his pretty shining lips after having covered their sight from Madara's view from across. "More so then most Alpha I would wager." Not knowing what that meant in all context Naruto was pressured to act solely on his gut rather then knowledge, a facet onto the shinobi way he had never managed to master. Nevertheless he gave valiant attempt, a smile on his face- perhaps a slight lopsided and a fragile nod in response to the apparent secret.
"Hashirama!" Then interruption came swiftly in the form of a disgruntled younger brother. Tobirama hurridly pulling on a black haori as he rushed out of a building. The man was easy to recognize in both appearance and aura- too cold, wafting a controlled distinction of continual ire- be it specific or in general Naruto had not managed to decipher that in his minor interaction of the man on the front. Inclination told him it was, in fact, the latter. There was difference however in this version of the man, no armour, which was to be expected of course. Most prominently however was the red lines which had descended down from his eyes as a tendo's blade, they instead were much like the white line of Hashirama's underlid, save red. He wore professional, traditional, clothing. Grey hakama over top of a raincloud coloured kimono, short tooth geta with socks on his feet. His expression was not prominent, though his declaration of his brother's name spoke well of his annoyance.
"Must you always find me with such haste? I am presently welcoming back Madara and meeting his new acquaintance." It was slight but narrow red eyes flinched further into slits momentarily, no further change in visage shown and Naruto wondered how practiced the man must be in patience for it appeared to be thin at the moment. Indeed as he walked fast forward and grasped Hashirama's forearm with a grip tight enough to be seen indenting his homongi, that is to say; quite. His tone was sharp and quiet as he reprimanded his brother, whispered but loud enough for Naruto and Madara near to hear.
"For the thousandth time brother, mind your discourtious tongue." There became an intensity to the air, though it was not sudden it was mounted within the span of moments as stares clashed with challenge.
"For what purpose? Madara does not mind, nor has he ever been displeasured by my uncivilized manner." The grasped arm was then ripped from the rigid grip of the pale man, making an obvious statement. Tobirama took a deep breath a growl underlining his exhale minorly.
"He may not, however those with decorum will- that is to say all save himself!" The response in turn was hardly what Naruto expected as the brunet said nothing further, his head chin went high and his hands and arms slotted into their opposite sleeves, decourous in matching the old fashioned etiquette Naruto had only briefly seen during a festival Jiraiya had insisted they watch within a well sized town which they had been passing through.
Though after his words the sweeping gaze upon both Naruto and the aforementioned man was pointed- and with both Tobirama and Hashirama's formal attire facing him Naruto felt a sting of shame at his own horrid appearance. Madara no doubt baring the most scrutiny with the direct insult and his blood crusted back -Naruto did not take his own stained trousers into consideration with his reasoning. The blond fought at the blush threatening his cheeks though the sharp words- and likely- the indescrete gaze drew the prettiest of their grouping, leading to brown eyes blinking with wide comprehension.
Until a kind smile formed tenderly across the brunet's glistening lips."Come Naruto-kun, in such a state you could use the gentile presence of your fellows not the discomforting company of such stern faced Alpha." -A small glare rested in dark irises as they flicked and remained a moment on his brother beside- His words had Naruto tense quickly, for though he was confused by the phrasing, indeed by the man's very words, the young shinobi did understand enough that Hashirama's intention was to separate himself from his companion- a daunting idea which crash onto his mind with heavy impact: They did not know nearly enough of their new surroundings to be leaving on independent adventures.
Hashirama opened his arms in way of a hug but gentured with his hand to follow. Uncertainty, not fear -as he told himself- made Naruto glance towards Madara- cerulean eyes likely displaying much, he received the most minor of nods in answer.
Therein he followed though he had little to do so. Instinct would hold primary guide as years of mounted lessons in holding casual within a desperate situation, he had no choice as it were. He straightened himself a little, his confidence was not pronounced at the moment but he knew he could flounder through with what he pertained. In his discomfort he hardly noticed his eyes slipping downwards and his step slowing to match, only the gentle touch of a hand to his shoulder bid him escape from his reverie. Looking up to slightly to the warm eyes glinting in the sinking sun with amber and Naruto smiled both to the kindly man beside him and the memory of Tsunade's piercing gaze, at least he now knew where their unique colour descended from.
"Do your wounds need tending? I am a keen healer." It was foolish but Naruto felt his cheeks heat for the question, and he scrambled away from the man. Denying the need with waving hands, flushed cheeks, and a nervous laughter that did not inspire confidence. It gained him a natural confusion from the man before he it morphed into a sweetened titter with a baritone matching in all oddity.
"Come now need not be timorous, we are both Omega I assure you I have seen wounds in such places before." Hashirama spoke with his throat still showcasing minut -inaudible- shakes in laughter. Embarrassment fled rather quickly from Naruto's vision as his expression dropped into one resembling melancholy, a slight more bitter then that however. For he understood then, the correlation was the genitalia, those of whom the guards and Hashirama had spoken were those with genitalia matching his own quite new one. How either persons could know he was of such a catagory without seeing his genitals he did not know, but there had to be a further sign- visibly physical.
"Hashirama-san, how did you know I am..." His words faltered leaving the space to be filled. The other man tilted his head with raised brows.
"You do not have the sharp features of an Alpha and the curve to your figure does leave the impression- your torso is quite exposed after all Naruto-san." That pinched his brow, he had never retained a boxy frame, or particularly muscled one- he either hadn't trained enough for that, or it simply was not designed as such, he did not know. He had always been slender -malnutrition, and yes indeed even a bit curved in figure. Staring down Naruto ran his hands down his sides to get a feel for the shaping there; agreeing that it had changed if only a slight. It was more pinched inwards at the waist- minorly from what it had been, though obvious enough to make an impression. In looking down however, he could see that his chest- pectorials were softer, not as firm as they had been. He tensed for that, instinctually panicking a slight for the fact- perhaps he was turning into a girl. Then rationality seeped forward, faster then it may have were he younger.
By fact, he had mixed genitalia, female and male as was known in his former reality. Perhaps therein body which was androgynous would only be logical- even the edition of a softer breast. Odd though that thought was, it did not bother him too terribly as it might've were he still scrambling for approval amongst his peers and neighbors, after all, everyone knew men were supposed to be built a certain way in society. Approval meant fitting into normalicy he had known that since he was ten and hit on the head for wearing a rag instead of clothes, and that was because he was not allowed into any of the stores at the time -lord third had made an impression on one of the owners when understanding this and he had been ushered in by a quivering man with a fake smile.
After having lost that hard earned respect and approval and his friends and teachers alongside- attempting to try and regain it became a forgone dream. Caring if he fit in or not was hardly a concern to him. This his new figure did not disturb with the same gravity as it would for most males from his time. It still left him with many questions, those which he did not know how to pose without revealing himself as an ignorant fool.
However... As they began moving forward once again in a comfortable silence, Naruto having not responded to Hashirama's explanation. The blond kept his eyes to the treeline ahead a little glazed over as his thoughts swirled. Perhaps he had found a solution to his conundrum, though it would be a mote humiliating, it would give him a path to finding out more about this new place. Madara would not be able to employ the same tactic and had to play his role through confidence and minimal facts. Naruto knew he could inform the other man more of their circumstances if he sacrificed a mite of his dignity to do so.
He breathed deep, it was not such a large leap. His entire life in Konoha he had both been -in a sense- a fool and played a fool; this was not so far separate from that. He licked at his lips and turned to his walking companion.
"Ne... Hashirama-san?" His breath stuttered a little in his chest as he was met with a kind stare and his resolve wavered a fraction.
"Hm?" The hum was somehow melodious.
"I do not understand..." Purposefully he pinched his brows together and resigned himself to be the fool, for both his and Madara's sake. "What is an Omega?"
As expected that earned a theatric response, widened eyes and stilled posture, Naruto was near certain he could not see the man's chest rise nor fall for several drawn moments of mounting apprehension. Then pretty glossed lips opened and closed multiple times without a single sound escaping, a twisted expression soon following. Naruto bit at his lip, a little uncertain with his own direction.
"I only remember that my name is Naruto, and I guessed my age." It was his best option was it not? He could gain little knowledge by playing as if he comprehended everything, he needed to understand the way of this world as soon as he could- or at least the basics. Hashirama breathed deep but the smallest smile came across him, matched with sympathetic and desperately despirited eyes.
