CHAPTER TWENTY-SIX
"GIRL MEETS SHE DON'T LIKE ME"
(primrose's outfit for this part of the chapter)
Primrose knew at a young age that not everyone is going to like you. She didn't tell anyone this and only Farkle and her sister and parents knows about this, but she was bullied in fourth grade just because she has a British accent. Two girls her age didn't like her because she was different or maybe they bullied her because they were jealous they didn't have a cool accent like she does.
When she told her sister what happened her sister told their parents. They were not happy at all that someone was bullying their little girl. Her dad actually worked as the middle school counselor at that point and had called the two girls who were bullying Primrose to his office. He talked things out with them to understand why they were bullying her and made sure that they knew that bullying isn't nice and that they won't bully Primrose or others again.
Primrose learned to be okay with people not liking her. Her boyfriend, friends, and family like her and that's all that matters to her. But apparently Riley doesn't feel the same way about that. Primrose had an amused expression on her face as she walked up the steps when she saw Riley and Maya laying on the floor by the lockers. Riley laid on her lap, hugging onto Maya's arm that were wrapped around her.
"How's it goin'?" Lucas asked, standing in front of the girls along with his friends.
"Someone doesn't like Riley, my legs are asleep, we have Health class." Maya replied.
"Okay." Lucas nods, bending down to pick up Riley. "Come on." He helped Riley on her feet and then put her over her shoulder before heading to Health class.
Zay stands in front of Maya, gesturing for her to get up. Maya looked at him weirdly, but still stood up and Zay did the same thing with her like what Lucas did with Riley.
Primrose and Farkle glance at each other. "Why are we friends with these people?" Primrose questioned.
Farkle chuckles, shaking his head as he wraps his arms around her shoulders. "No idea."
She smiled a bit at the action and she wrapped her arm around his waist. They glance at Smackle, who stood beside them, when she speaks up. "Sometimes I think you two are the more normal ones in this group. And that's saying something."
They get to Health class to see the boys had put Riley and Maya down and they were each sitting down. "Maybe you're right." Riley said to Maya, turning around to face the blonde who sat behind her. "Maybe I can't control who likes me or not, but there's more to life, like Health class."
Primrose and Farkle let go of each other to sit down. Primrose was sat in the front row beside Riley and in front of where Farkle sat. Riley smiles at Maya. "I am so excited for today's Health class."
Primrose made the mistake of looking at the board, her eyes widening when she reads 'Our bodies. Our friends' "I'm not." She glances at Riley with furrowed eyebrows. "Why would you ever want to be excited about Health class?"
Riley shrugs. "What could be so bad about it?"
"'Our bodies. Our friends'." Maya read the board out loud. "Yikes."
"Oh, I'm sure that the teacher's sensitive take on life will be a lovely way to learn how our bodies work." Riley comments. She turns around, her eyes widening upon seeing the gym teacher standing at the front of the class. She glances back at Maya. "What's that?"
"Alright, all you creepy little child-adults, settle down. Let's get this over with, huh?" When Riley raises her hand, he groans. "Put your hand down, Sunshine" Riley does as he continues. "You'll all pass no matter what. You know why? 'Cause if I fail ya, I gotta meet your parents. I don't want to meet your parents." He shakes his head, gesturing to the class. "I don't want to meet you."
"Alright." He snorts, putting his hands on his hips. "Let's talk about our bodies."
When she heard a thud behind her, she glances over her shoulder, raising her eyebrows to see that Farkle had fainted. She didn't blame him. She's not looking forward to this either.
The gym teacher nods, pointing at Farkle. "Yeah, I don't blame him."
"Are you sure that you're the right person to teach us this?" Riley asked him.
"Why don't you give me a chance?" The gym teacher smiles. "I may surprise ya."
"I want this to be taught to me in a delicate and sensitive manner." Riley explained.
"Yeah?" The gym teacher raises his eyebrows. "Well, surprise."
Riley pouted and leaned back in her chair. "You can't control this either, Riles." Maya told her.
Noticing Farkle get back in his seat, Primrose turns to face him with a smile. "You alright?"
Farkle nods, a small smile on his lips. "Yeah, I think so."
"Alright, everybody open your Health books to page 73." Everyone did as their teacher told them to.
"Prim," Primrose glances back at Farkle with a small smile when he talked to her. "Yeah, honey?" Farkle looks at her with a wide-eyed look. "I'm not alright." Her eyes widened when he fainted, causing him to fall out of his seat again.
The gym teacher points at Farkle. "He is the only one here that knows what he's doing."

The next day of school instead of the gym teacher teaching Health class it was now Riley's father. When Riley and Maya walked into the Health classroom, the whole class was either standing up or sitting on the desks, each facing the two girls with smiles. After a few seconds they all dispersed to their seats to reveal Cory was standing behind them and the two girls looked at him with shock.
Cory looks at them with an angry expression, putting his hands on his hips. "Ya happy?"
Riley turns to Maya. "Do it." Maya brings her head to lay it on her shoulder, singing softly. "Lee, lie, loo, la. Shh, shh."

"So, I said 'Hey, Fanucci, don't take this the wrong way.' He did." Cory said. "'Can you be a little more sensitive in Health class?' He can't. So, here I stand in front of you begging you to make this easy on me."
Primrose glances at Maya when the blonde-haired girl raises her hand slowly with a grin on her lips. Cory looks at her with disgust, shaking his head. "Put that thing down forever."
"You have to answer my question about the body." Maya said.
Cory squeezes his eyes shut, shaking his head again. Riley turns to face Maya with wide eyes. "Maya, it's my father! He doesn't know anything."
"I know things." Cory defends himself, finally opening his eyes. He looks at the class. "What is the body? What does the body want? I'm gonna tell ya."
Primrose sighs, resting her elbow on her desk and rested her chin on her hand. "Here we go."
"Soup." Cory speaks. Primrose raised her eyebrows, not expecting Cory to say that. "Now you know everything. Good night!" Cory waved goodbye and left the classroom, but stopped when Smackle raised her hand.
"What do you want?" Cory asked her.
"Smackle time, please?" Smackle inquired.
Cory smiles, gesturing for her to go up front. "Absolutely."
Recently Smackle had made up her own 'Smackle Time' like what Farkle did and Primrose was surprised he wasn't upset by it. "Mr. Matthews is our teacher and our friend who always encourages us to pursue the subject matter." She looked back at Cory with a smile.
Cory shakes his head. "Not this time, baby." He then walked off to the side of the classroom while Smackle turned to face the class.
"We will begin. On page 73 of your Health books, what they're trying to teach you is..." Everyone was looking at Smackle with different expressions. Maya and Lucas had an amused one, Farkle had a fearful expression, Zay had a wide-eyed expression along with Primrose except she had covered her mouth with shock, Riley was covering her ears, and Cory's mouth was open into an 'o' shape with his eyes shut.

After school the gang was at Topanga's, sitting at their usual place. "Lucas, what would you do if there was somebody in your life who didn't like you?" Riley asked, sitting beside the left side of Lucas after getting a snack from behind the front counter.
"I'd go like this." Lucas said and then smiled.
Riley raises her eyebrows, shaking her head. "That would work for you."
Lucas glances around the room, his gaze landing on Smackle who was sitting next to Primrose and Farkle. He smiles at her and Smackle smiled widely and even giggled. Farkle tilts his head to the side, glancing at Primrose with furrowed eyebrows. "Would that work for me?"
From her place between him and Smackle, Primrose shrugs. "Try it." He smiles at her causing butterflies to swarm in her stomach and she couldn't help but smile back at him. "It works on me."
His smile widens and he reaches for her hand that rested on her left knee, intertwining their fingers together. "Good."
"Zay?" Riley asked, glancing at the dark-skinned boy who sat near her.
Zay looks at her with raised eyebrows. "Riley?"
"What would you do if there was somebody in your life who doesn't like you?" Riley repeated the question she asked Lucas.
"Oof. I'd move to New York." Zay replied. Everyone besides Riley laughed while Riley just smiled and Zay mockingly laughed at his friends who did laugh.
Riley glances at the blonde-haired girl sitting beside the right side of Lucas. "Maya, what would you do?"
Maya shrugs. "I just don't care as much."
"Well, you cared when you used to be me." Riley reminded her.
"Yeah," Maya nods. "And it was exhausting, but I'm better now, Riles." She glances at Riley with a small smile. "You want to feel better? Don't care so much."
Riley shakes her head. "I don't know how to do that."
"I care that people like me." Smackle admits. She furrows her eyebrows. "Do people like me?"
"Of course they like you." Riley assured her.
Smackle looks at her with hope. "They do?" She glances at Lucas with a smile. "You like me, Lucas?"
Lucas nods and smiles slightly. "Sure." He looks at Riley with a smile. "Riley, there's not a person in this world that woudn't like you once they got to know you."
"Oh, well, that's very nice of you, Lucas." Riley nods, her lips curling downwards into a frown. "But the more me I was, the faster she ran away."
"Come on. Who cares about her?" Farkle asked.
"Not us." Primrose replied, shaking her head.
Farkle nods. "Exactly. Let's think about something else."
"Yeah." Maya agrees while Riley ate her snack. "Maybe if we move on and think about something else, then we could get on with our lives...She said, knowing that was crazy."
"Hey, guys, did you know that astronomers calculate that there are one billion trillion stars in the observable universe?" Smackle inquired, going along with their plan.
Zay looks at her, pretending to be shocked. "One billion trillion?" He shakes his head and smiles. "Well, that's just amazing."
Lucas pretends to be shocked as well. "I thought it was less."
"I know!" Zay nods. "It just gives you so much to think about..."
"Other than whatever's going on in our little lives." Lucas finished Zay's sentence.
"Hey, Riles, you could give all those billion trillion stars all Riley names!" Primrose chimed in, looking at Riley with a smile and the brunette-haired girl glanced at her.
Maya nods in agreement and smiles, pointing at Riley. "I'll get you started. Twinkly, Sparkly, Twinkly." Riley sits up straighter, a smile tugging on her lips. "There's three."
"It certainly shows how vast the universe is and how small we are." Farkle commented.
"Hey, you're right." Riley smiles. "We're all just specks. That's all we are." An angry expression forms on her face as she looks at her lap. "And that other speck doesn't like me!"
Primrose groans, resting her head on Farkle's shoulder causing him to smile. "Well, we tried."

The next day at school in Health class, Riley walked in with Maya, saying how her good years are behind her, she has eighty star names to go, and that she goes to a high school where somebody doesn't like her.
"Riles, just try to think of the positive things." Primrose suggests, sending her a smile. Riley glances at her with a bright smile. "Positive thing! 79 to go."
"And now, this." Maya dramatically spoke and Riley turned around to face the front of the room.
Cory stands in front of the class, holding the Health textbook. "One of the most intricate parts of the human body is..." He opens the textbook to a specific page, his eyes widening at seeing what he reads. "No!" Primrose watched with amusement when he slams the textbook closed, throwing it to the side of the room.
"I want to talk to you guys today about the human foot." Cory said to the class. He goes over to the chalkboard, picking up the chalk, and draws a foot. In Primrose's opinion, the drawing was awful. When he was done, he turns to face the class with a smile. "Questions?"
"See, what we have here is a man with nothing to say." Zay remarks. He shakes his head. "Sad."
"Give up, Matthews?" When she heard someone talk, Primrose glanced in that direction behind her at the door to see Mr. Fanucchi, the gym teacher, standing at the door.
Cory nods. "Okay."
"It's not so easy to explain the wonders of the human body to the freshmen class, huh?" Mr. Fanucchi asked Cory, walking to the front of the classroom.
Cory shakes hsi head. "Or anyone."
Primrose looks at Mr. Fanucchi as he speaks again. "So did he teach it to you in the delicate and sensitive manner you requested, Sunshine?" He asked, looking at Riley.
"Not quite, but it's out of my control." Riley replies. "Everything is."
Mr. Fanucchi hums in response and then blows a raspberry. "Wrongo!"
Riley furrows her eyebrows. "Wrongo?"
"I've been doing this for twenty years. It is never graceful." Mr. Fanucchi explains. "But it's always important. 'Cause after you get past all your laughter and your embarrassment, we all arrive at one thing: you get this one mind and you get this one body. That's what completely yours to control. How you take care of it, how you treat it, how you nourish it, what becomes of it."
Mr. Fanucchi shrugs. "It's completely up to you. Especially when it seems like nothing else is."
Cory smiles. "Boy, do you have the right teacher here." He looks at the class. "Does life know what it's doing or huh? Uh, you know what else there is about the human foots? They do..." He then ran out of the classroom causing Primrose to chuckle.
Mr. Fanucchi nods. "Yeah, they all do that." He walks over so he's now standing directly in front of the class. "Alright, here is the thing about Health. This is what makes you healthy: whenever it seems like everything else is just out of control, you need to be able to rely on your own minds and your own bodies to be whoever you are. 'Cause knowing who you are, that's the best control you could possibly have."
"So, make good decisions about yourselves." Mr. Fanucchi continues. "That's the best thing I can teach you."
Lucas smiles, glancing at Riley. "He's pretty good, Riley."
"A lot better than your dad," Primrose comments, her boyfriend and her friends nodding in agreement. "That's for sure."
Riley chuckles lightly and nods. "Yeah." She smiles. "Maybe I should just control me. Maybe that's okay."
"What about 'Our Bodies, our friends'?" Smackle inquired.
"What about page 73?" Farkle asked with a fearful look on his face. Primrose sighed heavily and shook her head when she heard a thud behind her and she didn't have to turn around to look to know he fainted again.
"Oh, yeah." Mr. Fanucchi nods. "Listen, someday, way down the line, please, if you make more of yourselves, teach them the same thing. They'll thank you for it."
"Thank you." Riley said to him.
Mr. Fanucchi looks at her with a bit of surprise and then smiles. "Anytime, Sunshine."

The gang were now standing outside of Topanga's early the next morning, each of them holding a red balloon. Primrose was having a hard time keeping her eyes open. She hated waking up early.
"Why did you make us set our alarms for so early?" Smackle asks Riley. She grins. "I had such a good dream. You know what I was dreaming of?"
"Was it Lucas?" Primrose lifts her head off Farkle's left shoulder, glancing at the girl who was standing beside Farkle's right side. "I bet it was Lucas."
Smackle nods, looking at the blonde-haired boy standing beside her left side and says the iconic Joey Tribbiani line who's a character from the TV show Friends. "How you doin'?" Lucas looked at her with amusement and chuckled as he shook his head.
"We're holding balloons, Riley." Zay stated with annoyance laced in his voice.
"Why are we holding balloons?" Lucas questioned.
"I know that sometimes I can be a handful..." Riley started.
Everyone besides Smackle lied, saying that she's not while Smackle said that she is. "But I learned something and I want to share it with you guys. This is our letting go ceremony. We will let go of all the things that we think we can control but we really don't."
"Well, I'm not doin' it." Zay spoke, handing the balloon back to Riley and Maya took it instead.
Farkle looks at him with a smile. "You don't control that."
"Execpt each other." Riley adds. "We will never let go of each other."
"See?" Farkle said.
Zay smiled a bit and glanced at Maya who handed him back the red balloon he had. "Okay, everybody. Let go of your balloons." Riley said.
At the same time, the seven teens let go of their red balloons, and they watched as they flew up into the air.
Farkle is the one to break the silence that fell between the group. "What happens now?"
They each look at Riley when she speaks. "Well, whatever life does to us, maybe we can't control it, but we can be who we are and...Control how we react to it."
