CHAPTER ELEVEN

"Girl Meets Texas-Part 2"

Later that night, the gang decided to go out and have some fun. Primrose had went home with her dad to change clothes. She offered her dad to join them, but he politely declined, saying that he had some homework he needed to grade. Then she walked over to the Friar's house after she was ready.

After having an argument with herself on what to wear she decided on wearing a floral blouse, blue jeans, black ankle high boots, and a leather jacket.

She happened to walk up the steps of the Friar house just as Riley and Maya walked out the door and she noticed they changed clothes as well. The girls smiled at each other. "Woah, gentlemen. Look how lucky you are." Pappy Joe said.

The girls smile at him. Pappy Joe looks over at the boys with a stern expression. "You treat 'em right."

"Thanks, Pappy Joe." Primrose spoke, walking over to lean against the railing near the swing Farkle and Zay sat on.

Riley turns around, looking at the stars. "I see why you get homesick from Texas sometimes, Lucas. I never knew that the sky had this many stars." She walks over to stand beside Lucas. "You know what else? I don't get nervous when I'm with you anymore. We're doing the right thing. Ah. Remember when we couldn't even say 'hi' to each other? Remember how we'd go 'hi', 'howdy', 'hi', remember?" She turns to face him. "Now watch this. Say 'hi' to me."

"Hi." Lucas voiced.

"Hi, Lucas. What up, brah? What's up with you, man? You good? You cool?" Riley questions and Lucas just says 'hi' again. She sighs. "Still got some catching up to do."

"Riley, I-I don't even know what's going on right now." Lucas stuttered.

"What's going on is that we're gonna be the best of friends and care about what each of us have to say for the rest of our lives." Riley told him.

Lucas nods. "Yeah, I sort of thought we had that." He furrows his eyebrows.  "What does brother and sister mean?"

"It means, you know...Poom!" Riley punched Lucas in the arm.

Lucas looks at her with confusion, pulling his arm away. "Hey!"

"Ping!" Riley then punched Lucas' other arm.

"Riley!" Lucas exclaimed, looking at her with a small glare.

Riley smiles. "Ha, you said that just like a brother would."

"Well, can I hit you back?" Lucas asked her.

Riley shakes her head. "No."

Lucas furrows his eyebrows and tilts his head to the side. "Only you get to hit me?"

Riley nods and hums in response. "We're just like how you and Maya were." She then leans towards Lucas and tries to do the 'ha-hurr' thing Maya did all the time. "Ha-hee!"

Primrose facepalms, shaking her head at Riley. "You don't even do it right." Maya said.

Riley turns to her. "Oh! Maya, I thought you weren't talking to Lucas."

"I'm not talking to him." Maya shakes her head. "I'm talking to you."

Lucas walks over to her. "Maya, are you seriously not gonna talk to me?"

Maya was quiet for a moment before she stuttered out a response. "You-you could've gotten hurt on that stupid bull. What do you think getting hurt would've done to the people who..."

Zay stands up and finishes her question. "Care about you?" He points at Maya. "I think you were gonna say 'care about you'."

"I'm not talking about me." Maya quickly said. "You think I'm talking about me?"

"Yes, I do." Zay nodded.

"I'm talking about everybody here." Maya gestured to everyone else.

"Maya, Lucas is okay. He didn't get hurt. All of us are okay." Riley reassures Maya. "And we're gonna go spend our first night in Texas...What should we do?"

"Well, Austin is the live music capital of the world." Primrose spoke, walking over to the group.

Zay points at her. "Great idea, Rosie." He glances at Lucas. "We should show them the town and listen to some music."

"Yeah!" Lucas agrees while Farkle stood up, now standing beside Primrose. Lucas looks over at his grandfather. "Anyone good playing tonight?"

"If I was a young buck trying to impress my friends, I might suggest Cubby's famous Barbecue Pit." Pappy Joe answered.

"Awe, yes! That's such a good place." Primrose grinned.

Pappy Joe nods. "Always good eats, always good music."

"But Barbecue foods aren't good for you." Farkle voiced.

Primrose quickly moves to the side along with the others when Pappy Joe harshly stares at Farkle. Pappy Joe stands up, walking over to stand in front of Farkle with a intimidating stare. "Let me tell you what ain't good for you."

"You're not gonna do anything to me because you know I'm a New York intellectual and you don't want to be a cliche." Farkle said.

Pappy Joe stares at him for a moment before he told Lucas, "Lucas, fetch me my shotgun." Primrose's eyes widened at hearing that and her eyes widened even more when Lucas moved towards the door.

"Okay." Lucas nods, getting ready to open the door. Farkle looks at him with a slightly paniked expression. "Lucas!"

"Okay." Lucas moved away from the door.

Farkle looks at Pappy Joe. "Okay, I'll go to Chubby's, I'll eat your food, I'll listen to your music, but don't expect a changed Farkle, Hombre."

****

"While I understand Barbecue is not your thing, Farkle, you do seem to have found a new appreciation to our hometown cuisine." Zay drawled.

On the table in front of Farkle, there was an empty plate where ribs were piled high, and the remains of them were on Farkle's face. "More." He demanded.

"Easy, cowboy." Lucas chuckles. "You need to calm down."

"Oh, I have to calm down?" Farkle raises his eyebrows. "They make a big deal out of you riding a bull for four seconds." He grins. "Well, I ate him."

****

Primrose was now at the bar, and she and Riley are trying to convince Maya to go talk to Lucas. "I know that you care about him, it's okay." Riley reassured Maya.

"Well, what about Rosie? She hasn't talked to Farkle about her feelings for him." Maya pointed at Primrose.

Primrose quickly shakes her head, feeling her face hat up jut at the mention of her situation with Farkle. "Nuh-uh, don't try changing the subject."

Maya sighs. "I just don't want anything to change."

Riley goes over to the table the boys were still at. She looks at Lucas. "Hey, Huckleberry, are we dancing or what?"

"Oh, we can do that? Is that part of the new rules?" Lucas questioned.

"This kind of dancing?" Riley chuckles, gesturing to the dance floor where people were line dancing. "Sure."

Lucas got up and went to the dance floor with Riley. "But seriously, Rosie, are you ever going to tell him about your feelings?" Maya turned to Primrose, wanting to know this.

Primrose glances over at Farkle with a longing expression. "I will. I just..." She shakes her head and looks at Maya. "Just not right now."

"I mean, you two went to the semi-formal together. That has to mean something." Maya said.

Primrose wanted it to mean something, but she wasn't for sure if Farkle did. "I don't know, Maya. I want it to be something, I do. I just...I don't know." She sighed. She then walked over to the table, sitting on her chair that's beside Farkle while Maya sat on her chair that's beside Primrose.

"Maya, what's going on with you?" Farkle asked Maya.

Maya shakes her head. "I don't know. Do you know? How about you, Rosie?" She looks at Primrose with a upset expression. "Help me. Please."

Primrose glanced at Farkle, not really knowing how to respond, and it looked like he didn't know what to say either. So Primrose scooted closer to Maya, resting her head on Maya's shoulder. She heard Maya sigh. Then Maya rested her head on top of Primrose's.

****

"You didn't want him to get hurt because you care about him." Farkle realized minutes later. Primrose had took her head off Maya's shoulder and looked over at him.

"I care about all of us." Maya shrugged.

"You care about him." Farkle said to her.

Maya looks at him. "I care about all of us."

"You care about him more, though." Primrose chimed in.

Maya looks at her and then Farkle with a harsh look. "I will kill you both."

"I'm not gonna care about anybody for the rest of my life, alright?" Zay speaks up. "I tried it once. Didn't work. From now on I like nobody."

"Zay?"

Zay sighs upon hearing a familiar voice. "Unbelievable."

Primrose looks over, smiling a bit when she saw Vanessa. She met Vanessa when she went to school here and she was quick to find out Vanessa wasn't that bad of a person and the two became good friends.

Vanessa smiles when she notices Primrose. "Rosie! I missed you!"

Primrose smiles and gets up. She goes over to Vanessa and they hug. "I missed you to, Nessa!"

After the hug, Primrose went back to her seat between Farkle and Maya. Vanessa looks at Zay with a small smile. "How's New York been treating you?"

"Good, yeah." Zay answers and shrugs. "Just trying to fit in. Making new friends."

"Well, looks like you made some." Vanessa said, referring to Farkle, Maya, and Primrose. "Wanna introduce me?"

"Yeah. Um, this is Farkle..." Zay started, pointing to Farkle, who smiled and nodded at Vanessa.

"Texas lady."

Zay points to Primrose. "Apparently you already know Primrose."

"Yeah, I met her when she lived here awhile ago." Vanessa smiled.

"And this is my friend Maya..." Zay pointed to Maya. She stood up, looking at him with an upset expression.

"You did not just do that."

Primrose raised her eyebrows, glancing over at Farkle to see if he knew what she was about to do. He looked back at her and shrugged his shoulders, his way of saying he was just as confused as she was about what was going to happen.

Zay looks at Maya with furrowed eyebrows. "What?"

"You did not just introduce your girlfriend as your friend." Maya said, sitting beside him.

Zay scoffs. "What?"

"Isaiah Earl Babineaux..."

Vanessa looks at Zay with confusion when Maya said his name. "Your middle name is Earl?"

"No." Zay shook his head.

"The next time you introduce your girlfriend as your friend, we are through, do you hear me?" Maya questioned.

"I mean, I hear you, but I..." Zay stammered while Maya demanded him to put his arm around her and he did so. She then told him to twirl her hair and he did.

"Call me Honey Nugget." Maya said to him.

"Hi, Honey Nugget." Zay spoke, still confused at what was going on.

Maya smiles. "Hi, Hunkalicious."

Vanessa chuckles a bit. "A little possessive, no?"

"Well, the good ones you don't let get away, you know what I mean?" Maya asks her. "With all the girls chasing him around New York City, you have to swoop right in or he'll be gone." Maya explained, swinging her hand back to hit Zay's arm, her way of telling him to stop twirling her hair. He chuckled awkwardly as he stopped and lowered his hands back to his side.

"I said, 'you have to swoop right in or he will-"

"Isaiah Hank Babineaux." Riley interrupted her, rushing over to them and sits on the same chair Zay's sitting on. She then made him put an arm around her.

"No-" Zay shook his head, telling her that wasn't his middle name.

Riley points at him. "I don't care. I only care that you don't let Maya get her hooks into you when you know you are mine."

Zay taks his arm off of Riley. "This is my friend, Riley..."

"Now, how do you like it when he calls you a friend, Riley?" Maya questioned, looking over at Riley.

"I like it." Riley smiled.

Maya shakes her head. "No, you do not like it."

"I do not like when you call me just 'friend'." Riley quickly said, looking over at Zay.

"Well, what would you like for me to call you?" Zay questions.

"I would like you to call me...Cotton candy face." Riley grinned.

Maya sighs but pats her shoulder. "Good girl. I know that was hard." Riley nodded.

Vanessa raises her eyebrows. "Zay, is it possible I've misjudged you?"

"It's possible, Vanessa." Riley responded.

"How do you know my name?" Vanessa asked her.

"Um..." Riley's eyes grew wide, looking at her friends to know what to do next.

"Too much." Maya said.

Farkle and Primrose nods in agreement. "Too much." They both say and quickly got up along with Maya and Riley. The four of them are then quick to leave Zay and Vanessa.

They headed to the dance floor where Lucas was standing. Primrose stands between Farkle and Riley as a man walks on stage up and speaks into the microphone. He then announced the band that was going to be playing. Maddie and Tae walked onto stage, and stood at their own microphones.

"This first song is a love song..." Maddie started.

"Uh-oh." The five friends said in unison.

"And it's called 'no place like you'." Maddie finished.

****

The friend group returned back to the Friar's house after a fun and somewhat awkward time at Chubby's.

"You've just been sitting hear, Pappy Joe?" Lucas questioned as he and his friends walked onto the porch to see Pappy Joe still in the rocking chair.

"Oh, after you run around enough you'll find that comfy chair on your own front porch is your favorite destination." Pappy Joe answered.

"Oh, by the way," Pappy Joe gets up and moves over to the window near his chair. He then taps on the window. "Lord Chesterfield's letters to his son.

"What?" Lucas furrowed his eyebrows.

"Lord Chesterfield has a son who traveled the world." Pappy Joe informed them.

Riley looks at him with narrowed eyes. "What is that? What are you doing?"

"Matthews told you to do this, didn't he?" Primrose sighed.

"He's good people." Pappy Joe nodded.

"No, he's not." Riley shook her head.

"Chesterfield writes him letters about how he should behave himself because a father knows...The only way for a kid to really learn anything is to go out into the world and find out who he is." Pappy Joe explained.

Riley points at him, looking at her friends. "My daddy is trying to teach us from beyond the grave!"

"Matthews wrote us a letter, didn't he?" Maya asked Pappy Joe.

"He did." Pappy Joe replies, taking a letter out of his pocket. "'Dear my favorite children...Take care of each other. Enjoy the world.'" He then handed the letter to Riley.

"I don't want this night to end." Farkle voiced.

Primrose nods in agreement. "Me neither."

"What do you do around here when you just want to look at each other's faces a little longer?" Riley inquired.

****

Primrose sat on a log next to Farkle in front of the campfire, watching the bright and warm flames in front of her.

"You guys were lucky." Farkle said to Lucas and Zay.

"How come?" Lucas asked him.

"To grow up out here...To have this sky...and the stars." Farkle answers, looking up at the stars above them. "This has been the best weekend of my life. Thank you."

Primrose smiles at hearing that and then looked to her right where Riley sat. "Promise we'll always be friends no matter what." Riley said to everyone.

"Riley..." Maya started.

"Promise." Riley turns to her. "No matter what happens, I am telling you that I will always be your best friend. No matter what." She looks over at Primrose with a smile. "You too, Rosie."

Primrose smiled back at her. "Do you understand, Maya?" Riley looks back at Maya. "It's you, me, and Rosie until the time we...You know..." The three girls pretended to die and then they smiled at each other.

Primrose looks over to her left when she sees Vanessa walking up to them. "Zay."

Zay stands up, surprised that she's there. "Vanessa?"

"Pappy Joe told me you were out here." Vanessa explained how she knew the group was out by the fire.

"You were looking for me?" Zay questioned.

"I wanted to tell you I was sorry." Vanessa answered.

Zay furrows his eyebrows. "What'd you do?"

"I never really gave you a chance." Vanessa responds. "Now I'm too late because I could never steal you away from your new friends...Could I?"

Zay looks at his friends who smile at him. "Steal me from these people? Hmph. No. No, you couldn't." He looks back at Vanessa.

"What if I bought you ice cream?" Vanessa suggested.

After the group told him it was okay for him to leave, he left with Vanessa to go get ice cream.

"Farkle, Riley, you wanna go get some ice cream?" Primrose asked them, so they can leave Maya and Lucas alone to talk.

Riley smiles and stands up. "Yeah, let's go."

The three then went to town and got some ice cream. They were now sitting at a table outside the ice cream place they went to, conversing with each other.

"Well, I think I'm gonna head back." Riley said, getting up from the chair she sat on.

"Are you sure? I can show you guys to some other places." Primrose offered.

"It's alright. I have a feeling two need to talk about something so I'll leave you two." Riley smiled at them. She then headed back to the Friar's house, leaving Farkle and Primrose.

"I think I might know what she's talking about." Farkle said, looking over at Primrose.

Primrose nods, nervously biting her lower lip. "Yeah, me too."

Primrose takes a deep breath before asking, "Listen, I know we went to the semi-formal together and we know we both like each other. But what are we? I wanna stop pretending that the semi-formal didn't mean anything to us, and I wanna stop pretending that we forgot about our feelings for each other."

"So, what are we, Farkle?" She asked him, locking eyes with him, wondering if he could hear how loud he heart is beating.

"Well, um, what do you want to be?" Farkle questioned, hating how nervous he felt, and his face grows hot at what Primrose does next, but he smiled at her.

Primrose intertwines her hand with his, sending him a smile and she was sure that her face was a bright red color. "I want to be more than best friends that know they have feelings for each other."

A/N this chapter was definitely interesting! & we got some cute farkle & primrose moments!!
