Four Weeks Later

I was healed and back in action, for better or for worse. I was tougher, and I fitted in with the boys. Robin was out hunting, and we were sitting around the fire, sharpening our weapons and practicing.

'So... Johnny Doe.' I said coyly, standing up, swinging my green sword. He looked up.

'Do you wanna fight, sword to sword?' He grinned, and stood up as well. He wasn't that much taller than me, but was much more muscular.

'Oh, so you think you can beat me?' He baited, circling me. I circled as well, refusing to take the bait. I was tense, at the ready. Morphing into my zone. But not all the way in, I didn't want to hurt him accidentally.

Then the movement came out of the corner of my eye. Robin was back, watching us silently from the shade of the trees.

John charged, expecting to run me down with one blow. I stood there, waiting...waiting...waiting, and I jumped nimbly to one side at the last moment, and he had head butted at tree instead. He growled, and I smirked. I wanted to impress Robin. Robin was laughing quietly in the shade of a tree. Jethro was clutching his sides. John glared at us. He hated being humiliated. He tried to knock my blade out of my hand, but I used the flat of my blade to knock his legs out from under him, fuelling his anger.

Again and again he tried. Again and again he failed. Finally he lost it. He threw a punch at me. I was good at weapons, but couldent take a punch. Suddenly my mouth was full of dirt. I lay there, stunned. I sat up, spitting the soil out of my mouth, disgusted and ashamed.

But then Robin had John up against a tree, pinned there. Rob, had John, big, strong John, pinned up against a tree, unable to move.

'Rob, calm down man.'

'Your the one who needs to calm down! You let your temper get away with you.'

'So? He deserved it.'

'I don't care! She didn't deserve it, and you should know better!' He didn't just say what I thought he just said, did he?

'She?' Jethro broke the silence.

'You never, ever hit a girl, John!'

'Girl?' He choked out. Robin released him. I didn't know that he knew. Now the other two knew as well.

'How did you know, Rob?' I asked. he snorted, plonking himself down by the fire.

'You never go shirtless, your voice is quite high-pitched, you always wear a hat.'

'Oh.'

I went to sleep that night, and the nightmares started again. They had stopped since I joined Rob, but they came back.

'Red! Wake up, cone on! It's just a dream, it's okay!' Three of them were shaking me and shouting. Wolfie was whining, licking my hand. I jerked upwards, hitting something hard. I pummelled it with my fists weakly, and Rob held my wrists, preventing me. I realised that it was his chest, and I blushed, glad that it was dark. Rob pulled me into a hug, rocking me back and forwards.

'There.'

My shaking gradually stopped, and I wiped my hot, sweaty forehead.

'Thanks.' I mumbled. I went back to my twisted blankets, Rob helped me untangle them.

He retreated to his bed, and I lay there, frightened to go back to sleep.
