"So, how was your day?" Donghyuck asked as he dropped himself on the edge of Jaemin's bed with a soda in hand. He just came home from work and thought that he'd ask his friend about the game.

"It was good. They won," Jaemin answered while writing his homework.

"And...?"

The beta hummed, trying to think if he should actually tell everything. The way he'll say it would just make an excuse for Donghyuck to tease him. Either Jaemin would try to hide it or not, the beta can read him easily.

Jaemin stopped writing and sighed, "Well...we talked nicely."

The beta chuckled, "So, it took you guys to lose Renjun just to be friends?"

"Friends?" The other thought, "We're more like...strangers with a weird, good-ish relationship?"

Donghyuck pointed his finger at Jaemin, "Jeno's not too bad, to be honest, right?"

The beta hummed, "Y-Yeah."

"Like, at first, yeah, I hate him for being too aggressive with you but when you started telling me stories about how you guys are doing fine and he's quite nice, I changed my mind," Donghyuck smiled, "Don't even think that I'm not telling these to Renjun."

Jaemin's eyes widened, "What--Why?!"

"Duh. How would he even know if you two are making the effort?" he answered and took a sip on his beverage, "So, keep it up."

The beta was dumbfounded. To think about it, Donghyuck is a person who talks too much sometimes so he wasn't too surprised. Suddenly, he's curious what Renjun's expression is whenever Donghyuck speaks about them. He misses the omega all of a sudden.

"How is Renjun doing?" Jaemin asked in a soft tone, going back to whatever he's doing a few seconds ago.

The beta shrugged, "He's doing well. Nothing new happened since you took a leave."

It seemed like he isn't affected anymore. Maybe he moved on, or he doesn't want to see him and Jeno after what happened. What is he even talking about? He's thinking like this when he and Renjun are just friends--the omega treats him as a friend. Jaemin doesn't kind of treat the omega as his friend anymore, he already fell in too deep right now.

Although, he can't make his feelings worse. He'll just ruin Jeno's chance. He needs to forget about it. It seems impossible.

"When are you coming back?" Donghyuck asked.

Jaemin shrugged, "I don't exactly know. Should I?"

"Of course. Like, come on, you guys need some closure. I'll demand a closure if Mark breaks up with me--Which will never happen."

The beta nodded slowly, "I-I'll see. Maybe I could bring Jeno."

"Better! Atleast he'll believe that you guys are acquaintances," Donghyuck commented, "And, uhm...About the deal you and Jeno have, I don't like how you gave him a chance when you can't give yourself one. But whatever your decisions are, I hope it'll make you happy on the long run."

Jaemin didn't reply but he heard what his friend told him. Donghyuck just sighed before he stood, patting on the beta's shoulder, then walked out of the room. Jaemin clenched his jaw and tightened his grip on his pen.

Will it make me happy on the long run?

A few days went pass by pretty quickly. Jaemin has already received his scores from his written and performance-based examinations. He was happy with what he got. He'll be able to pass the semester after all.

"Woah, you did well this semester!" Donghyuck said when he saw a glimpse of Jaemin's scores.

"Yeah. You too," Jaemin uttered.

"And because of that, Mark will treat us," the beta giggled as he looked back at his boyfriend and hugged his arm.

Mark frowned, "We didn't agree on this, Hyuck."

Donghyuck pouted, "But I did great, just like we promised."

Jaemin could only chuckle at them, "Why don't you treat us instead, Hyuckie?"

The beta immediately sent him glares, "I thought you were on my team, Minnie!"

"Yeah, that's right. Don't keep on giving me those puppy eyes and ask me to treat you," the alpha hybrid said.

Donghyuck whined, "Markie!"

Mark rolled his eyes, "Jaem, come with us. Let's go to a cafe nearby."

The alpha's boyfriend gasped and started clapping like a seal. Jaemin was about to answer a yes but he stopped when he saw someone familiar leaning against a car that was parked across the road, infront of the university gates. When that person saw him, he started crossing the road and walking towards him. The beta tensed and felt flustered upon seeing him.

Why is he here?!

"I-I think I'll catch up," Jaemin said.

Donghyuck looked and was surprised to see Jeno. He looked back at Jaemin who seemed to be really flustered. The alpha stood infront of them, removing the shades he had.

"Are you about to go home?" Jeno asked, Jaemin.

The beta was taken aback, "Y-Yeah...Why are you here?"

The alpha hummed, hesitating and fidgeted with the car keys he has in his hands but kept a strong expression, "Let me...Let me give you a ride home."

Jaemin cleared his throat, "Well--"

"We'll see you later, Nana. We have to go, right, love?" Mark suddenly uttered.

"Wait, I thought--" Donghyuck was suddenly pulled by the alpha to hush his boyfriend and whispered that they need to give them some space, "O-Oh, yeah, yeah! Bye, Minnie! See you later!"

When the couple walked away, the beta and the alpha were left with an awkward silence.

"Were you about to go with the--"

"No," the beta answered with a small smile, "A-Are you still going to drive me home?"

Jeno nodded, "Yeah...I also want to talk to you. If that's fine."

"Yeah, of course..."

Both of them walked towards the car. Jeno unlocked it and lets the beta get in. They sat quietly, the alpha starting the vehicle before he drove away.

Jaemin hugged his bag against his chest as he just sat there. He was giving quick glances at Jeno. The alpha looked extra attractive, he's not going to lie. The way he walked towards him with only a black shirt, sweats and the shades make the beta feel like he's in some kind of romance movie where the lead actor drives him home because he doesn't Jaemin to get tired or something.

What are you thinking, Jaemin?!

On the other hand, Jeno somehow wasn't bothered by the beta's scent anymore. It seemed like it was just a few days he was scrunching his nose because of the fruity pheromones. He finds it weird but he guessed he got used to it. They did spend some time together because of Jeno's exams.

It took them a few minutes, sitting in silence, until they arrived infront of Jaemin's apartment--which the beta had to guide the alpha.

"Do you want to come inside and talk?" Jaemin asked.

Jeno took a deep breath and looked back at the beta which caught Jaemin a bit taken aback. Their eyes met--ones were fierce and ones looked vulnerable. The beta's with an alpha who used to hate him, maybe he still hates Jaemin secretly and he doesn't want to get eaten alive.

"I'm sorry."

The beta jolted and his eyebrows went up to his surprise, "W-Wait...what?"

Jeno looked away and frowned, "I don't like repeating myself..." he said quietly.

"S-Sorry, I was just surprised."

"I thought about apologizing of how immature I acted infront of you. I'm the reason why Renjun got mad at us. I'm still trying to get along with you, even though I still hate you...a little bit."

Jaemin sat there, fidgeting, just being quiet while he listens to Jeno. He doesn't know why he's flustered while the alpha's apologizing. His heart is even beating faster than usual. He scratched his nape and sighed.

"You don't have to say sorry...You're right. I'm just a beta. Compared to you, I shouldn't have provoked you into it--"

"Forget about it," Jeno cuts him off, without looking back, "I-I didn't mean to downgrade you because you're a beta...I just have problems containing my thoughts."

The beta feels awkward hearing the alpha like this. He never talks to him like this, ever! What should Jaemin even say? This is just making him nervous but happy that Jeno's talking to him with a soft but stern tone.

"I'm planning on visiting Renjun tomorrow...Do you want to go together?" Jaemin asked.

Jeno nodded, "I'll pick you up then."

The beta hummed, "You don't have--"

"We'll visit together, we'll go together."

Alphas do have a natural commanding tone that the beta was about to answer him in a formal manner. Jaemin just nodded.

"Alright. Whatever you say...I should go too," the beta said.

The alpha nodded, no words. Jaemin swallowed the lump blocking his throat.

"Thanks for the ride."

"...Don't mention it."

The beta suddenly couldn't help but to smile.
