Chapter 1-He's Back
Sweet...
Gentle...
Lovely...
Kind....
That's not what truly you are, but not everything appears as they may seem.
You were traveling in a fast pace, using the trees and then buildings as your path. A huge palace came into view, grand enough to be the royal palace.
But oh wait-
You parkoured over the looming palace wall and safely landing in the imperial court yard as dust circled in the air.
You took a breath of relief as you took off your hood and mask, your sweaty and steamy face being relieved by the prickle of cold from the night breeze.
"You're late to bed, my sweet princess,"
You stopped in your tracks as you slowly turned around while you had a smirk on your face. You turned to see a tall man with sharp, dark eyes and dark, navy blue hair wearing sea blue traditional robes. A long metal glave, the size of your scythe, resting upon his shoulder.
"Bed time has nothing to do with me," You said as you continued walking.
"Who said anything about bed time," Hak said with a smug look on his face as he walked close to you,"I meant you're late to my bed,"
"How can I be late when I never planned on coming?" You laughed even though your cheeks were burning.
"Ouch! Why do you ever hurt me so, princess?"Hak said dramatically as you giggled. Hak mentioned another thing as you stopped, letting out a sigh of exhaustion,"However...His majesty is again, late to bed.."
"Lord...I told him that he can just go to sleep. I'll always be back before dawn," You said as now you changed the direction you were going in.
You suddenly felt your hand being pulled back as you crashed into Hak's chest while he looked intently at you.
"What? Got something to say to me?" You said, secretly flustered as Hak smiled while he let you go.
"Just checking if you got any uglier," Hak scoffed with a smirk while he was done checking for injuries as he started to walk away before he turned his head back around at you,"You did."
"My apologies," You bowed, flauntly throwing your hands back while holding on to your scythe,"I have disgraced the presence of your godly handsome face with mine, ever do so forgive me, your grace."
"You are forgiven," Hak smiled smugly as whipped your scythe at him, till he swiftly dodged it.
"Oh please,"You flaunted while continuing your walk around the corridors,"If I'm ugly, then you're old,"
"Hah! In your dreams! I have the skin of a baby unlike your cowhide," He said as he did a glittering pose.
"Yes, just like baby. And so is your maturity," You laughed while Hak irked till he sighed.
"You'll never get a husband with that attitude, princess," Hak shrugged with an annoying smile.
"Don't worry, I don't need one," You said as you were making your way through the complex hallways.
Hak's expressions turned to a frown,"Oh? And why is that?"
"Husbands protect their wives. I don't need to be protected," You said, with uttering confidence as you swayed while you walked,"Plus I don't need to be tied down by some stuck up noble-"
"I'll protect you (f/n)," Hak said as you suddenly turned around to see him with the confident smirk of his as he was looking at you with those devilish sharp eyes.
You blushed slightly, but shook it off as you laughed,"Protect Yona first,"
"Wow, what a cute sister. Always putting her darling sister before her," Hak said sarcastically as he nuzzled close to you while you pushed him off,"It is my duty to protect you both since I pledged and stuff whatever, however, I think she will have to be protected by someone else soon,"
"Of course. And he better, or else I'll personally send him six feet under," You smirked holding your blade confidently.
"How fitting of the Death's Aide," Hak flaunted with a grand smile waving his hands in the air.
"How quick of you to retort, Lightning Beast," You replied back as Hak laughed.
"Alright, I think that's enough messing around for today. His majesty is waiting for you," Hak said while he leaned against his glave.
"The only messy one here is you," You said as you got close to his face, but only to ruffle his hair. You handed him your scythe while you pranced along,"Take care of that for me. My father wouldn't want to see his daughter holding her weapon in front of him,"
"As you wish, my princess," Hak said as he watched your fleeting back until it disappeared from his sight. He smiled till he turned around, whistling away a tune while he settled down for the night.
You walked along as you passed by some doors, fitted with gold and red decorations. You took in a deep breath before knocking.
You opened the doors slowly to reveal a short and stout man sitting at a small table. You shut the doors, any outside noises becoming silent now.
"I don't support any of this you know," A man said as he was sitting down near a table with some scrolls littered on it.
"I know father," You smiled as you sat across from him.
"Well," He started as he put down the calligraphy brush,"Did you make them quick?"
"And painless as always," You lied, thinking about the last guy. Well, most of them were anyway,"I'll see that the place gets cleaned thoroughly though,"
"Good, now come here," He said as you shuffled over to him while he brought you into a hug.
"I'm glad you have come back safe, my daughter," He said while he caressed your face.
"Thank you, father," You said while you were happy to be this doted on by someone,"It's good to be back,"
"I despise violence. Especially seeing you in front lines. Why must you do this? Shouldn't it be time for you to stop?" Your father complained to you with a saddened face. You felt a little pain as you began to explain yourself.
"Yes, father I know. But this must be done. If you won't take care of it...Then I must," You said as you continued,"It is my duty as princess,"
"Your duty as princess is to rule over your country, not risk your life for it! As king and your father, I can easily forbid this!" He said desperately for you. He suddenly sighed as he said,"Remember, I only agreed to this because you threate-...hah, because this is the only thing you've ever asked of me. You will stop the moment you get injured or for when it's time for you to marry,"
"Father, I don't want to be shackled by marriage! I can't! I won't! I don't want a husband to control my life!" You argued, your voice getting louder as you furrowed your eyebrows.
"I would never choose a bad husband for you, my dear. No one would dare to disrespect the all mighty princess of my kingdom," He joked as you giggled a bit," But I won't have a reckless princess that gives no thought about their life!"
You smiled softly as you said,"It's because I'm a princess that I risk my life. Plus I'm not your only princess," You laughed a bit as his majesty was not pleased.
"What are you saying, my foolish child?"He said before bringing you into another embrace,"I need both of my darling princesses. So when things look bad please come back to us. Do not hesitate. Promise me you'll keep your family safe,"
You smiled as you hugged your one and only father,"I promise father,"
There was a sweet moment of silence before you let your father go.
"Now you must go rest up, you must be exhausted, (f/n)," He said as he rushed you out of his quarters.
"Yes, even though some people went to sleep forever," You laughed to yourself a little while you said your goodbyes and kept walking toward your own room.
There were two rooms next to each other. You passed the first door quietly, and rushed to the farthest one.
Your room was decorated very femininely. Lots of silk hung from the walls and over your bed. There were plenty of wardrobes and a large mirror. It all didn't matter. You had a black pouch in your hand while you smiled,"I'm sure she will like it..."
You somehow drifted to sleep with blood stained hands.
"Where are both the princesses? They're supposed to be here," Hak said to Min-Soo, a personal servant between the royal family of the Crimson Dragon palace. He stood idly by the sidelines as King Il, your father, was having a ceremony for your late grandfather and the past king in front of a crowd of people.
"I believe they're both in Yona's chambers," Min-Soo replies while Hak has a distant gaze.
"Ah...That's right. Yona needs her help since he's coming.." Hak sighed as he laughed,"What a weird pair of sisters..."
"Does the red look better with the blue on?" You said rushing around in your own outfit, which was white robes with flowing red sleeves, opposite of Yona,"Lord, no, never mind. Go get me the floral chintz we had before—"
"Ah, father!" Yona suddenly called out as you were holding a blue coat that I gave it to a servant as I bowed,"Did we miss it?"
"I'm sorry, father. I had lost track of time. I should've just decided on something," You said as you finalized Yona's outfit who was basically the same as yours, but opposite colors so we looked like a pair.
"Yes, but you both don't need to worry. It was only a formality. It wasn't required for you to come," He said with a soft smile on his face.
"Father be honest with me..." Yona said as he listened intently. You rolled your eyes as she would ask this question over and over again,"Is our red hair weird looking?..."
"Of course not! My daughters are the most beautiful girls in the entire kingdom," Father smiles as my sister laughed.
She had a smug smile while she flew her hair back,"Well, yes I do think that's true. We've been blessed with a beautiful face if I do say so myself. But my hair! Ugh, it's so wild and unkept I can't—"
Yona continued to complain about her curly hair as father looked at me with a distressed face,"What? Don't look at me. We both look the same so I'm not going to say we're ugly,"
"Why did you get the straight hair when we're both twins? Gosh, I hate my hair!" She said as she was clinging on to you in a huff.
"There's probably a way to make your hair straight, but then how could people tell us apart?" You laughed as the one of the only differences between Yona and you were that you had straight hair and she had curly. You were actually the more filled out sister, but who cares. There were a few other differences, but that's a secret.
"Gah!! How about you cut yours then? You always said that you never liked long hair," She complained while you shrugged.
"True, my hair doesn't have as much volume as yours and always gets in my face. Maybe I should chop it off," You said as you were seriously considering it.
"I don't even know why I keep talking to you both about this anymore," Father sighed as he continued,"Both of your hair is lovely, isn't that right, Hak?"
You widened your eyes as Yona froze. You blushed as Hak was kneeling behind his majesty. He said in a cooI and calm tone," I think their hair is extremely beautiful, your majesty-..."
"It's just Yona's brain and (f/n)'s personality that's weird—,"
"Silence, servant." We sisters, both hissed in unison as you were the only one to secretly laugh at his remark. Hak handed you a sly smirk as you pompously rolled your eyes.
Yona started throwing handheld items at Hak who only juggled them as he caught them. You laughed while father was trying to ease Yona's anger about wanting a new bodyguard.
"If we're talking about body guards then at least at hire a cute one!!" Yona screamed while she took a porcelain tea cup from a servant and threw it directly at Hak's face.
"Speaking of cute, shouldn't you try looking cute yourself? I heard that he's here-" Hak mentioned before you slapped his shoulder.
"I'm working on it, don't rush my art," You hissed while Yona bursted into an embarrassed frenzy.
"He's already here?! Jeez, why didn't you tell me sooner," She finally calmed down while she bolted out the door.
"Wait! You didn't try this coat yet!!" You shouted as you sighed, your sister always being a pain when it comes to your cousin, Soo-won.
"Oh my, that's what she was worried about?" King Il scoffed as you cracked your neck from the stress.
"Yes, Father. Apparently so. Yona has a very massive crush on Soo-Won,"You sighed while your eyes glanced over at Hak, who was yawning from the long ceremony,"And I disagree...-"
Hak glanced over till he had a faint blush around his cheeks.
"I think we have a very cute bodyguard," You teased as Hak blushed, but he tried to hide his embarrassment with his cheekiness.
"I'm glad you think so, my princess. You'll never find another as glorious as I in the entire kingdom," He flaunted with a pompous attitude.
"I'll take that as a challenge," You laughed while you handed the extra cloth pieces to a servant. You got close to Hak as you whispered before elegantly exiting the room,"However...Why would I look for another guard when I have you?..."
"How indecent, Lord Hak," Min-Soo teased as he instantly got hit in the head while Hak was in a blushing mess.
You crept around a corner, after following your sister, you giggled while you listened to her stutter and fumble with her words.
"I-I heard you were here so I...I wanted to greet you..!" Yona was stuttering with her words and fiddled with her hands.
"My, how responsible of you~" Soo-Won's voice echoed from around the corner.
"Yo-You'll be staying longer this time, r-right?" Yona desperately asked as she clasped her hands together.
"Of course! I'm here for you and (f/n)'s birthday after all. My, you're already sixteen, you've gotten so big~!" Soo-Won patted your sister's head as her face scrunched up,"Speaking of that, where is your sister? I must also greet her as well! Plus the King and Hak~!"
Soo-Won left in another direction, completely oblivious to the situation.
"I wear the nicest clothes...I buy the best cosmetics..And yet he still treats me like a child!" Yona grumbled as you came from your hiding spot around the corner.
"You know how Soo-Won is. He's always looked out for us so it's most likely he sees us as little sisters..." You tried to console her.
"Such a waste.." Hak suddenly interrupted as Yona began her tantrum while you could only chuckle.
Soo-Won is our cousin and the son of the King's brother, who was an excelled general. Yona has fallen in love with him at an early age.
"Let's go. We'll all meet up with Soo-Won later. We'll have dinner with him later tonight," You tried to console her who felt like her heart had been broken, but something like this wouldn't stop her,"You too Hak,"
"Whaat? A lowly servant like me? Dining with the King and his only daughters? I couldn't," Hak fainted with sarcasm as you rolled your eyes.
Later that night...
You took a midnight stroll. The night was quiet except for the few chit chat of guards passing by below on the ground.
You suddenly felt a chill down your spine. You gasped as you turned around and held your hands in defense as someone grabbed your wrists.
"Woah, woah. It's just me. Soo-Won," Soo-Won stood infront of you smiling awkwardly.
"Good lord...Soo-Won, you seriously gave me a fright. How about calling me before you decide to sneak up on me?" You laughed as Soo-Won chuckled.
"Haha, my bad. You just look so serious all the time that it makes me feel guilty," Soo-Won joked as you smirked at him.
"Why? Is it because I'm not as ecstatic as my sister? Thank you, but I don't think I'm capable of being as chipper as her," You smiled as Soo-Won took a step closer.
"I don't dare to assume. You have your own charms that can't compare to Yona," Soo-Won flattered you as for some reason it only pissed you off.
"Yona's cute isn't she? Much more feminine than I, not that I want to be more feminine," You tried to talk about Yona.
"Yes, she is. Kind of like a little sister," Soo-Won stated as it wasn't your intention for Yona to appear as a little sister.
"Ah-Uhm...She's been thinking about marriage lately!" You desperately tried to defend your sister, trying to help Yona's romantic life.
"Oh has she? My, she's so grown up all of the sudden," Soo-Won only chuckled,"What about you? I'm guessing you also have been thinking about marriage right?"
You clicked your tongue at the change of subject,"Me? No, not really...I have other things on my mind,"
"Well, we can talk about that over tea? I have some newly imported tea from the neighboring country. We could enjoy a cup or two in my room?" Soo-Won offered as you felt extremely uncomfortable.
"Uh-ahem, thank you, but I can't tonight. Hak invited me out for something so I'm spending my time with him tonight. How about inviting Yona in my stead? I'm sure she'd be happy to drink with you," You smiled as you took a few steps away from him.
"...always Hak, huh?..."
"What was that?" You questioned, as Soo-Won only comfortable smiled.
"Maybe another time, hm?" Soo-Won quickly replied.
You smiled as you said,"Yes, another time...I heard you're staying awhile so we'll have plenty of time. Good night Soo-Won.."
You sped off while Soo-Won had an eerie expression.
"Yes...I'll be staying much longer than last time..."
——A/n
Wow, first official chapter of Two-Faced, hm? I'm excited since I've always liked Yona of the Dawn and had always wanted a chance to write a fic about it.
However this is my first Yona Of The Dawn fanfic so bear with me please. I've been always writing BNHA gifs up until now. I think you'll see a lot more variety as I'm working towards different anime's for five. I am currently working on a very old anime if you've heard but it's called Yumeiro Patissiere
This story is actually my leisure story so I'm not gonna update consistently but it's there if you want to read it.
Anyway I hope you enjoyed and as always thanks for reading.
Ciao!
