Backstory
"Fuck," I screamed, my voice echoing off the walls of my mind. My mom was trying to marry me off, and I felt a wave of panic wash over me. She always believed that girls my age should already be married and have at least three children, as if my worth depended on a ring on my finger and a house full of kids. The thought made my stomach churn, and I couldn't shake the feeling of being trapped in a life I didn't choose.
"My mom always knew how to annoy me, like a persistent itch I couldn't scratch. I felt lost, adrift in a sea of confusion. If my mom actually succeeded in marrying me off, it felt like I'd be handing over the keys to my life, locking away my dreams in a chest I'd never open again."
Feeling lost and uncertain, you sighed, unsure of your next move. Glancing at the clock, you noticed it was 2 pm in the afternoon.
"Maybe coffee will cheer me up," I muttered, pushing myself off the sofa. I slipped on my shoes and jacket, grabbing my keys with a sense of determination. As I stepped outside, the cool air hit my face, a refreshing reminder that there was still a world waiting for me beyond my worries.
Taking in the fresh air, savoring each breath that filled my nostrils, I indulged in the heavenly inhale and exhale. Moments like these are the ones that fill us up with joy. My mother could never understand this.
Seeing a coffee shop from afar. I quickly walked towards it. Not realizing my steps, I bumped into someone.
"Hey, watch where you going," he said with a sharp tone. I could feel my irritation rising, but as I slowly looked up, his green eyes pierced through me, and for a moment, the world around us faded. My heart raced, a mix of irritation and something else—something I couldn't quite name. How could someone so infuriatingly rude have such an alluring gaze? It felt like he was seeing right through my defenses, unraveling the layers of frustration and confusion I had built up against my mother's relentless pressure.
But then he snapped his fingers, pulling me back to reality. The annoyance bubbled up again, battling with the unexpected flutter in my chest. "Next time look where you're going," he said, his tone sharp, yet I couldn't shake the feeling that there was more to him than just a rude encounter. The annoyance returned, conflicting with this strange flutter in my chest. "Sorry," I mumbled, still lost in his gaze.
Why was I even thinking about him? He was just another distraction, another reminder that I didn't need anyone else telling me how to live my life. Yet, as he walked away, I found myself wishing for another chance to cross paths, to see if there was a softer side hidden beneath that brusque exterior.
What in the world was I thinking? I sighed, feeling the familiar weight of my racing thoughts. My delusions are starting to wander again, and I need a distraction. Quick!
I quickly composed myself and walked towards the coffee shop, pushing aside the lingering confusion.
"Entering, I just asked for a coffee and a biscuit, feeling the warmth of the shop wrap around me like a cozy blanket. I settled down at a table by the window, taking a moment to breathe in the comforting buzz of conversation and the soft clinking of cups."
Taking one of the newspapers. I began to flip through the pages while sipping on my coffee.
It feels good to be thinking about something else, instead of my annoying mother. The coffee's warmth and the sweet taste of the biscuit is everything I need right now.
The coffee shop suddenly rang, signaling another customer had entered. I took a little peek, and my mouth immediately dropped.
Green eyes, brown hair.
Dammit the rude guy from earlier. I saw him
looking my way and I quickly hid under my newspaper.
My cheeks flushed with embarrassment as I realized I was hiding under the newspaper, hoping he wouldn't recognize me.
Still hiding under the newspaper, I quickly pulled out my wallet, took some money out of it and left the coffee shop.
What a coincidence. A nice one actually.
"Snap out of it",I quietly murmured, and slapped myself on the forehead.
Digging through my purse, I realized that I had forgotten my wallet at the coffee shop.
"Shit" I turned around and run as fast as I could.
Not paying attention to anyone around me.
As I neared myself the coffee shop. I bursted the door so hard open, that I almost fell down but luckily landed on something.
I looked up and saw the guy I bumped into before, and wait, he was holding my wallet! 'What is he doing with my wallet?' I thought. Wait, why am I in his arms? I quickly stood up, acting like that didn't just happen.
My cheeks flushing with embarrassment. I can't believe this is happening again...
My pulse quickened, and I felt a surge of defiance.
"You thief"! I exclaimed loudly ,while staring at him. Deep down a part of me was curious about him. This mysterious aura and the sudden "coincidences".
"You again", he rolled his eyes. The nerve this guy had rolling his eyes, even though he was trying to steal my belonging!
Before I could throw a fit, he interrupted me.
"I actually wanted to give it back to you, I had no intentions stealing from you". He said.
He actually looked genuine.
Or was it me that thought so? And I was fooled again by his charming nature?
"I apologize", I said.
He opened the coffee, door ready to leave, but I stopped him.
I have an offer for you, I said.
Be my husband.
