fourteen: let me know

"Suddenly, rain wells up in my eyes
You well up, I see you even when I breathe. Love blooms like cherry blossoms but burns and becomes ashes. Maybe we're all just a bunch of fools. Everyone lives with a love that has come to an end."

it's another day and lately, everyone has been spending more time together.

due to the scheduled events of Shira's upcoming wedding, the friendship group have taken holidays from work. Jungkook and Jimin regularly visit Two Euphoric Hearts and the florist next door. as business men, they need to make sure it's all in order.

many have resorted to staying at Jin's mansion like house. the empty rooms and space have finally been given a purpose. the older male didn't get a say but didn't mind waking up to his dining table filled with his family everyday. good fucking morning's and good fucking night's from Elianna, Talulah's snoring, Hoseok's pillow forts with Es which end up being collapsed by Namjoon, Jimin watching Jin and Jungkook cook but not making any attempt to help before wandering off to grab Taehyung and Yoongi so they can play mario kart.

Elianna personally loves the feeling. it's like a never ending sleepover. this is her true family, she thinks whenever she wakes up because of their loud banter and bickering. the fact that Yoongi is there makes it even better, the boys and girls are starting to welcome him and Maeve a lot more. the only missing piece is the tension with Jungkook that they've been avoiding.

she opens her eyes, squinting as she glares at her phone. it's four am and she's abruptly woken up by the storm outside. her throat feels dry so she gets out of the bed (Shira on the other side of it) and steps over Talulah and Taehyung's limbs on the floor. she makes her way to the kitchen, slipping on her socks as the girl walks.

Elianna fills a glass of water for herself as she leans against the counter. a figure moves in front of the fridge and she jumps, splashing water on her face accidentally. "god! you scared me." she groans.

Jungkook stills too, closing the fridge as he holds a bowl of snacks. shit, he mumbles as he looks equally surprised by her presence.

Elianna continues to drink her water in the darkness of the kitchen. the only light that's present is from outside of the window, black skies present but moonlight shining. she blinks and stares at Jungkook who's shirtless. he continues to stand in front of her, hair disheveled as he munches slowly but awkwardly. it doesn't ease the tension, it makes it worse when the female can't stop her eyes from moving across his slender figure, prominent biceps, abs and...

"put on a shirt." she grumbles.

"okay." he obliges and grabs his shirt from a spinning stool.

Elianna watches Jungkook as he attempts to speak to her. he bites the inside of his mouth, opening and closing as he tries to say what's on his mind. he's rehearsed for so long but he physically can't. she raises her brows in an intimidating manner, hand still holding her glass.

Jungkook forces himself to look at Elianna. although the brown intensity of their eyes is hard to see, the emotions of desire, nostalgia and affection suffocate them. they can't see each other but they can feel everything. "can we talk?" he asks quietly. his voice is the only thing heard in the dim kitchen as he stands with an uneasy look.

the way he asks is so gentle.

Elianna feels her chest tighten as she places her cup away. she can't help her stubborn attitude. Jungkook's one of the only people who hasn't gotten sick of her. his patience with her was and still is unreal. "no, we can't talk."

"how else are we ever going to move past-" Jungkook starts, immediately moving towards her as she starts to walk away slowly.

"do you want to move past?"

"no i want to talk to you." his words leave her breathless.

"damn look at you Jeon," Elianna clicks her tongue, eyes meeting his. there's sweet danger and he's heating up, ears reddening. "-being all assertive."

"can we please talk?" he says again, eyes pleading.

"not now." Elianna doesn't want to leave but...

"can you both shut the fuck up?"

Elianna looks behind Jungkook as he also turns around in surprise. does no one sleep in this house? their gaze lands on Yoongi who's sitting up on the medium sized couch, soft hair somehow neatly placed, ebony eyes narrowed with a knowing look and coral lips twisted into a smile that appears like a smirk- one that taunts.

Elianna furrows her brows but what she focuses on is how Jungkook changes. his frame stands taller as he turns completely around to face silver haired Yoongi who has a blanket draped over his pale legs. "get the hell out." Jungkook mutters and glares.

Elianna stares hard at Jungkook. he's glaring at Yoongi and seems ready to lunge forward and finish the fight she had to break apart. she notices his clenched fists but what worries her more is the fact that Yoongi's smile wipes off his face. he pushes off his blanket, phone dropping to the floor and glares back at annoyed Jungkook.

"what did you just say to me? you know your attitude stinks."

Elianna shifts her gaze between the two boys. she waits to see what Jungkook says next. "well yours stinks more! it's wafting everywhere." he waves his hand with a grimace, black hair falling in front of his eyes.

"come on Kook," Yoongi drapes his arm over the back of the couch. there's sadness in his facial expression, Elianna realises, he's shaking. "can't you forgive me?" he asks weakly.

Jungkook notices Yoongi's sudden state but turns around to now face Elianna. she's startled by his swift action and change. "how could you forgive him Elianna?" the way he says her name makes her insides curl, not in a good way. "he's the one who made me do it." he points towards the older boy behind him, eyes shaking.

"see," Elianna whispers sadly. "you're still blaming him."

another guest comes downstairs. Hoseok, in flannel bottoms walks along the wooden floorboards sluggishly. his eyes are barely open as his hair stands up on his head. "can you guys be quiet?" he asks, tone of voice low unlike them. "Es is sleeping."

before they can say anything, Hoseok speaks again as he senses the environment between Elianna, Jungkook and Yoongi. "you guys live too much in the past."

as he walks away, "sorry hobi" is heard.

"i'm sorry Kook," Yoongi speaks when Hoseok leaves. Elianna thinks about the nerve he has to call Jungkook by a nickname, he's one tough man. "but you both need to talk things through." he gestures towards the younger and Elianna who stares.

"seriously El..." Yoongi acknowledges her. "why won't you talk to him?"

Elianna looks away.

someone else comes down the stairs then. Namjoon, more awake than anybody slips on his shoes as if it's the most casual thing to be doing in the middle of the night. "hey bro!" he waves his hand at Yoongi, smiling at blank faced Elianna and Jungkook, greeting them briefly. "you want to go on a drive?" he asks the older, grabbing his keys with one arm in his jacket.

the two leave, Yoongi saluting them as he does.

Elianna starts to walk away too, making her way upstairs.

"Elianna-" Jungkook calls out.

"goodnight."

Jungkook goes outside. the garden has become a space where most of them have been hanging out, even if it's to take phone calls, like now, he realises Jin is on the phone.

the older male has just ended a phone call with Valentina. a girl Jungkook knows deserved better but has things left unsaid with the actor. from his expression, it seems that he's uneasy but relieved after the call. things can't be fixed from one call, he knows that but he's glad they're making amends.

the younger watches innocently as Jin ends the calls, standing beside Namjoon who speaks first. his ex boyfriend had remained beside him as he took the call, in the garden. "i'm glad you called her man." Joon pats Jin's shoulder as the latter nods. Jungkook unconsciously nods along too.

"me too, things have changed."

Namjoon chuckles. "she must hate me right?"

"well yeah..." Jin awkwardly laughs, slipping his phone into the back of his jean's pocket. "but i'm the one who did her wrong. i'm at fault."

shy, black haired Jungkook listens to the casual but meaningful conversation, always learning from his hyung's. he can see that Jin has learnt from his past mistakes and is willing to accept them to move on. that's better than what most people do. he's a good person.

and Namjoon agrees with Jungkook's silent thoughts. "but you've mended things so good for you my bro." he tells Jin as they share a loving moment, one of nostalgia and kindness.

"you're my ex boyfriend," Jin pushes Namjoon who starts laughing uncontrollably. "stop calling me bro." he laughs too.

"oh come on bro."

Jungkook walks away, making his way upstairs. he's determined to talk to Elianna no matter what it takes. he's upset, he'll admit it. the fact that she's avoiding him, doesn't want to talk to him and continuously shuts him out breaks his heart even more.

as his feet land on the first floor, he covers his mouth in surprise.

"oh god..." he pinches his eyes at the sound of Jimin and Zelda having sex from the bedroom.

he notices shocked but excited Elianna and Talulah standing outside the door, a few steps away, giggling and trying to keep quiet. Talulah meets Jungkook's innocent and scarred expression, "sh." she tries not to laugh, ears and cheeks reddening.

"leave them be, they want a child."

Jungkook blocks his ears and runs away. "this is... goodbye."

Jungkook has a kind soul.

he spots Maeve looking for a spoon so she could enjoy her soup. he smiles a small smile before opening a drawer and handing one to her. she thanks him and takes her place at the stool. Jungkook sits beside her.

"hey, Maeve right?" he asks, eyes dancing over her black hair and shiny eyes. she's dressed in what looks like Yoongi's shirt and although she may seem unapproachable, her smile is worth waiting for. "we haven't talked much i know."

"but i'm Jungkook." she shakes his hand. she already knows who he is obviously and everything she's heard about him is true- innocent looking, kind and caring. he is a good friend. his black hair bounces, his eye twitches as he makes the effort to talk to her.

she appreciates the effort.

"thanks for letting me and Yoongi stay here." Maeve mentions, soup in front of her as she glances at him. she pulls her hair behind her shoulders, making sure it doesn't get in the way as she appreciates the silence.

"not really my call." Jungkook laughs.

despite that, you still could've said no. "but after all that he's done..." Maeve trails off. she knows Yoongi's past, she knows what they were like together and how he left her too. but the boy has changed, she's seen him trying to make amends and be a better person. him trying to love himself is a process she gets to see everyday and it's glorifying. she doesn't want to spend her life with anyone else, this second chance has given her so much joy.

"how can you get back with someone who broke your heart?"

Maeve is surprised by the sudden question as she stops slurping. "i don't know... it just happens when you realise that's who you want." she explains, not wanting to go into detail. but Yoongi did break her heart, he left her when she needed him the most. that's in the past now since she realised forgiveness is the key. after all, Yoongi came back and tried to buy flowers for her as a way to win her heart back. and... he succeeded.

"despite the past, one can always change." Jungkook is a good listener, Maeve realises. what is he not good at? he is truly the golden maknae. he nods along, fingers tapping against the kitchen island. it looks like her steady words are making him think.

"love stories can change too and it can be a beautiful thing."

Jungkook hopes his and Elianna changes before it's too late.
