Two Weeks
"Right, Torchwood. The same morning of the fire except it's seven thirty. Off you pop, I'll stay here in the TARDIS." The Doctor said waiting for me leave. I did and ran all the way to Torchwood. Ianto wasn't at the reception desk so I pressed a button and let myself in. Then the running started again. The alarms of the door leading to the main bit hurt my ears, again, and I walked in. I didn't see anyone straight away but I looked over to the computers and I had four pairs of eyes staring right at me. "Why is everyone staring at me like I'm a ghost?" I asked. Gwen was the first to approach me and hug me. "Where the hell have you been?" She asked back.
"It's only been a few hours. I wasn't gone a whole year."
"Evelyn, were you drugged or something?" Ianto asked when it was his turn to hug me.
"No. Why would I be drugged?"
"I think you better go see Jack." Tosh suggested so I walked up to his office.
"What do you want now?" Jack asked assuming that when I knocked on the door I was one of the others. "I came to say hello." I said. Jack slowly lifted his head and turned before squeasing the life out of me with a death hug. "I thought you were kidnapped or something. I should have come straight there when you told me about the ball."
"I'm fine. It's only been a few hours." Jack pulled of the hug and looked me in the eyes.
"Evelyn, were you drugged or something?"
"Ianto asked the exact same thing. No, I wasn't drugged! Why has that even been an idea?"
"Because you've been missing for two weeks." Two weeks? My heart started pounding in my chest. I had been gone two weeks? "That's not possible. He told me that-"
"Who's 'he'?" Uh oh. Now came the hard part.
"Jack sit down a second." He did as he was told. "I had a break in the night of the explosion. The intruder was... was the Doctor." Jack's eyes widened but I wouldn't let him speak until I was finished. "He agreed to give me a lift here and we got chased to the TARDIS by the ball. The ball belonged to the Sontarans but that's a whole other story. He offered me a trip and I took it." Jack looked angry. "This meant you could have called me." I thought about it for a moment. "Evelyn what could have been so bad that you couldn't call me?" Now my blood boiled.
"You want to know what was so bad I didn't call? Here's your answer. After we got taken by the Sontarans, we were taken to their leaders and allies who turned out to be my father and sister. They allied with the Sontarans to kill me. My sister shot me and I blew up the ship in return. The Doctor offered me a trip. I was there when the Titanic sank. The trip went wrong so he offered me another. We landed in New Earth where I had to cure an unknown disease for a whole stinking town where the people were kept locked up like cattle in small rooms so they couldn't infect anyone else. That brings us here. Is that good enough for you Jack?" I started to shout half way through that and I think I slammed my hand down on the desk seeing as my hand started tingling. "Now he's asked if I could travel with him and that's exactly what I'm doing." I stormed out of the office to my room and packed up some clothes and any other things into my backpack. I found a few pictures on my bedside table. One was of the whole team and the other was me, Ianto and Jack. I packed them both and left.
The team tried to talk me but I just said, "Goodbye" and walked out. The TARDIS luckily wasn't too far away so I got there easily. "Two weeks." I simply said. The Doctor looked at me like he knew something. "Yeah, I figured that out after you left." He said. I shook my head and let the matter go. "Where to now?"
"I need to pick up my friends Amy and Rory, or the Ponds as I call them. Then we can go."
