The Break In
Two Years Later
I had finally got my own house after years of being stuck in Torchwood for thirteen years. After about five months of living in the new house and getting used to being alone and having to travel from home and to work everyday by a bus I was finally trusted to be aloud to take things home for examination if it was important which was very rare.
I got home at midnight one night to a package at my door. Jack had dropped me off and left before I had time to ask him if he sent it because I hadn't ordered anything. I got indoors and opened the package to find this strange black sphere inside. I had to give Jack a call. "Captain Jack Harkness." He said tiredly. "It's me." I said.
"Hello me. What do you need even though I only saw you about ten minutes ago."
"Did you send me a package or anything that you got from a mission?"
"No. We have kept everything from previous missions. Why? Did someone else send you something?"
"I don't know. I'll drop it round in the morning when I get to work. It doesn't seem to be harmful but I'll make sure it doesn't do anything." I hung up and examined the ball. It was heavy and a shiny black metal. I left it on my coffee table in the living room and went to bed. I was so tired that day.
I woke up to my front door opening and an unfamiliar voice whispering to themselves. It was a man's voice. He sounded young. I slipped on my slippers and tied my hair up in a messy bun before creeping out of my room. I had never dealt with a burglar before but it couldn't be any different than fighting aliens. "What has she found now?" The man questioned himself. He was walking around downstairs and had gone into the living room giving me time to quickly tip-toe to the kitchen and grab a frying pan for defence. I snuck over to the living room door and peered into the room. He was sitting on my sofa, had picked up the ball and was scanning it with this small metal stick. "You have five seconds to put that down and face me." I demanded switching on the light. The man put the ball back on the table, stood up and faced me. Wow, I could actually get a human to listen to me and I wasn't even at Torchwood. He had a strange fashion sense by wearing a bow tie.
"What the hell are you doing in my house?" I asked with my frying pan ready to swing with one wrong move. "I picked up a signal and it lead me here." He answered. He was a nutter. An absolute nutter. "Okay, how the hell did you get into my house?" Before the man could answer a beeping noice came from the ball. "We might want to run. It seems that you may have a bomb in your house." My eyes widened and I lowered then pan. "A bomb?" I had only just got the house and now it was going to be blown up. "Yes. Now get out of here!" He grabbed my hand and pulled me out of the house as the beeping got quicker. We stood on the other side of the street waiting for the explosion once the beeping had stopped but nothing happened. "Are you sure that-" I stopped talking when I was pushed backwards by a big force. The house had blown up. "I spoke too soon." My house had gone up in flames. I didn't have a way to contact Jack because my phone was still there. I had to go back to Torchwood. Great. Neighbours were outside calling 999 and staring out of their windows. "I don't suppose you could give me a lift to my dad's place could you?"
We walked down the street because he offered to take me home. I still didn't know his name and he didn't know mine but we didn't speak at all really. We started hearing a beeping noise following us. I turned around and the black ball/bomb thing was flying and heading straight towards us. This time it had spikes sticking out of it and a tiny gun. "Run!" I yelled. The man grabbed my hand again and we ran to wherever he was taking me. The black ball started to shoot lazers at us but kept missing. It wouldn't affect me but it would kill the man and it would more than likely be my fault. I was consentrating more on the ball to worry about where we were going. I heard a door squeak open and then a door slammed in my face. There were two doors with a window in each but they were so hard to see out of. What I saw when I turned around was truely amazing. I was in a giant room with bright yellow walls and stairs leading up to a huge contol panel with some sort of tube going up to the ceiling. I heard a bang on the door behind me like when a dart hits a dart board indicating that the ball had hit the door with its spikes. I opened the door and looked around the outside then went back inside. "It's bigger on the inside." Then it clicked. I was in the TARDIS, the one place I had always wanted to be. "This is my TARDIS. That's Time And Relative Dimension In Space. It travels in time and space. Anywhere, any time, any place. My name is the Doctor. What's yours?" He introduced and I couldn't help but giggle slightly as I walked to the stairs leading to the controls. I felt like a young girl again, dreaming about travelling the universe. "I'm-" The TARDIS shook making me hold onto the railings for dear life. It wouldn't stop shaking. "We're being controlled. I can't stop it." The Doctor was flung onto the leather seat behind him and stayed there until we landed.
"Where are we?" I asked when the shaking stopped.
"I have no idea. Lets have a look." The Doctor answered walking to the door. "Ready?" I nodded my head and walked out of the doors after the Doctor. Guns were being pointed at us from every angle. These small things with blue armour surrounded us. "This isn't good." The Doctor mumbled. It looked like we were on a spaceship but I couldn't be sure. One of the things took it's helmet off to reveal a potato-like head. "We have instructions to take the girl once the leader is ready. The male seems to be unknown. Take them to the prisons until ready." The potato said. Two of the other potatoes lead us to these prison cells until we were "ready".
