Test Subjects
"Don't forget your coat." The Doctor reminded me again. He was taking me to New Earth at Christmas and it was apparently snowing a lot outside. "I know. This is the millionth time you've reminded me in the past ten minutes." I muttered slipping my coat on. Outside the cold breeze hit my face immediately. We had landed on a hill overlapping a small town covered in the white snow. I felt something freezing hit the back of my head, a snowball. The Doctor had thrown one at me while I was admiring the view. "Two can play at that game!" I threw a snowball right in his face and laughed. He didn't find it very amusing though. Let the snowball fight commence I thought and the war began.
After our snowball fight, which I clearly won despite his complains, the Doctor and I walked into the small town next to the hill where there was supposidly a market. I was given some money to spend on whatever but I wasn't one for shopping. I liked to take in the sights instead.
When you think of a market, you would expect a lot of people. Nope. The town was deserted. No shoppers, sellers. No one. Just me and the Doctor. "You said there were a lot of people here." I said. The Doctor just spun around confused. "I know I said that." The Doctor moaned. He sounded so disappointed but I was actually having fun. "You know. There's no one around and the place is full of snow." I grinned evilly and ducked behind a stall laughing and trying to gather up snowballs. I got one right on the side of my face so I threw one back and it hit the Doctor's face. Or at least, I thought it was his face. A man dressed in all black stood where the Doctor should have been. He had his head down but I felt his eyes locking onto me. "Where's the Doctor?" I asked. No reply. The man just stood still. "I said, where is the Doctor?" Still nothing. "You better tell me right now where he is or I will-" I stopped when the guy pulled out a sharp knife. "Woah there mister. You want to play that game huh?" I pulled my gun, I always carried one, from my coat pocket and pointed it at the man. It didn't stop him moving though.
Suddenly, two hands grabbed my shoulders and pulled me to the ground. "Get the hell off of me!" I yelled. I tried escaping the person's grip but they had one hand holding my right arm down and with the other he pulled up my coat's sleeve. The man knelt down next to me and cut my arm. He started examining my blood. Then the wound healed. "Interesting." The man said. "Knock her out, I'll take her friend to the lab." A cloth was held over my mouth and nose and I blacked out.
I better be in my own bed with a nice cup of teaI thought waking up. But no. I was strapped to something metal standing upright so I could see everything in the room. The Doctor was in the same situation next to me. "Doctor." I whispered even though no one else was in the room. "Wake up." He started to wake up just as I heard footsteps getting closer. "Ouch." The Doctor moaned as he finally woke up. "Where are we?"
"How am I supposed to know? I just woke up myself!" Someone opened a door on the other side of the room. A man in a lab coat walked in and smiled at us. "Ah, you're awake." He said. "My men tell me that you were in the quarintene zone." Quarintene zone?
"What quarentene zone?" The Doctor asked.
"The town you were in has been closed off because of a disease that spread across it. Then you two came waltzing through and we just want to examine you. See, we here work to find a cure for this disease and you are our test subjects." I wasn't becoming a test subject for some loony.
"This is not right. We didn't agree to this." I said.
"You were in our quarintene zone."
"Yes but we didn't see a gigantic sign with an arrow pointing down at it warning us." The scientist wasn't fond of my attitude. "Now, my men tell me that the girl is somehow immortal. Is this true?" "How about you come here and I'll show you a true butt kicking if you don't let us go."
"How about you be quiet and we'll get on with the tests."
