I'm Evelyn Harkness. I don't remember much about being adopted. I was ten and living in an orphanage. Two men called Captain Jack Harkness and Ianto Jones came there one day and arranged an adoption. They got me and I moved in to what I thought was a house. They worked and lived in a place called Torchwood where they specialised in watching alien activity. 

They worked along side Gwen Cooper, Owen Harper and Toshiko Sato, Tosh for short. They all brought me up in this place. We lived there aswell. I got my own room to sleep in and I had the whole Torchwood Hub to explore and play in, when the others weren't busy that is.

Jack and Ianto were kind people. Everytime I got scared or sad they would cheer me up. At night Jack would sometimes tell me stories about a time traveller called the Doctor. He travelled the universe in a blue box that was bigger on the inside. I guess that's how this whole story started. I started to dream every night about travelling the world, and sometimes the universe. It seemed so exciting.

I know this chapter was short but I wanted to get this started by saying how she got adopted. Next will be about her childhood and her time in Torchwood.
