Date: August 15, 1987

Shayne's POV

I was sleeping peacefully when I heard a soft voice

Michael: Shayne.? Sweetie, wake up

(I slowly opened my eyes and I saw Michael leaning on the bed next to me. I noticed that he was already dressed.)

Shayne: Good morning

Michael: Morning Did you sleep good.?

Shayne:(Nods) Yeah

(I sat up and stretched.)

Shayne: What time is it.?

Michael:(Looks at watch) 9:14

Shayne: Really.? (He nodded) That's late for me

(He got up off his knees and sat on the bed in front of me.)

Michael: There's someone downstairs who I want you to meet so get dressed please

Shayne: Alright

(I got up and walked out of his room. I walked into my room and to the bathroom. I stripped off my clothes, turned the shower on, and got in. About 35 minutes later, I got out and dried off.

I put on a blue tank top, black skinny jeans, and blue Adidas. I dried my hair and left it down. I ran downstairs and looked around but I didn't see Michael anymore.)

Shayne: Michael.?!

Michael: Out here, Shayne.!

(I followed the sound of his voice and it led me outside to the pool. I walked over to him, where he was sitting at the table with a lady.)

Michael: Shayne.! This is my best friend, Elizabeth Taylor Lizzy, this is my photographer, Shayne Matthews

(She looked at me and smiled. She stood up and hugged me tight. I laughed and hugged back. She let me go and looked me over.)

Elizabeth: Nice to meet you darling

Shayne: Nice to meet you too

Elizabeth: Would you like to join us for some breakfast.?

Shayne: Sure

(Michael pulled me chair out for me and I sat down. He sat down next to me and Elizabeth was across from us. The cook, George, brought out our plates of pancakes, bacon, hash browns, and eggs.)

Elizabeth: So Shayne, how long have you been a photographer.?

Shayne: Well, Ive always loved taking pictures but I went into the business about 6 years ago

Michael: I have to show you the pictures she took of me last week They're amazing

Elizabeth: If your that good, I might have to hire you myself

(We laughed and finished our food. After George cleared our plates, Michael stood up and cleared his throat.)

Michael: I hate to eat and run ladies but I have some last minute tour details to attend to Lizzy, you'll be fine here until I get back.?

Elizabeth: Of course Go ahead doll

Michael: Alright Im sure you two will find something to talk about

(He leaned down and kissed Elizabeth on the forehead. He leaned over to me and kissed me softly on my lips.)

Michael: I'll be back in a hour

(He walked back into the house, leaving me alone with Elizabeth. I looked at her and she smiled at me.)

Elizabeth: You like my Michael, don't you.?

(I smiled. There's no use in me lying.)

Shayne:(Smiles) Yes, I do

Elizabeth: He likes you too I can tell

Shayne: Yeah He told me last night and he also said that he loves me

Elizabeth: Do you believe him.?

Shayne: I mean, we've only known each other a couple of months

Elizabeth: Trust me, when Michael says I love you, its always true

(I smiled. There's just something about him that makes me crazy.)

Elizabeth: I just have one favor to ask of you

Shayne: Yes.?

Elizabeth: Be careful with him, With his feelings He's already been through so much

Shayne: I'd never think of hurting him I'd kill anyone who would try to

Elizabeth:(Smiles) You and me both, honey

(For the next hour and a half, me and her spent time getting to know each other. We were in the living room when we heard the door open.)

Michael: Shayne.? Lizzy.?

Shayne: In here.!

(He walked into the living room with his hands behind his back.)

Shayne: Hey You How was it.?

Michael: Boring and uneventful

Elizabeth: I thought that you said an hour Its been almost two

Michael: I know but I had to stop and get you guys these

(He moved his hands from behind his back and pulled out a bunch of flowers and a box of chocolates. He handed me the flowers and Elizabeth the chocolates.)

Elizabeth: Michael.! You shouldn't have.!

Michael: This is to get you back for that muffin basket you sent me last week.! I gained about 10 pounds off that thing.!

(They laughed and then Michael looked at me.)

Michael:(Whispers) Do you like them.?

Shayne:(Nods) Mmmhmm How'd you know that orchids were my favorite.?

Michael:(Smirks)  Let's just say.....I had a feeling

(I giggled. Michael suggested that we go into the theater and watch some movies. For about 5 hours, we sat there and watched old black and white movies.)

8:13pm

(Elizabeth had went upstairs to go to sleep a while ago and now, it was just me and Michael in the theater.  We weren't actually paying attention to the movie cause we were too busy talking.)

Michael: So, what was it like for you growing up.?

Shayne: Well, I grew up in Hartford, Connecticut My dad is a lawyer and my mom stayed at home and took care of me and my sisters

Michael: You have siblings.?

Shayne: Yeah Actually, I have a twin

(Michael's face lit up with interest.)

Michael: Really.?

Shayne: Yep Her name is Scarlet We were born 3 minutes apart, me being the oldest and then I have another sister, Sage, who is only 14 so she still lives with my parents

Michael: Wow Sounds like your family was pretty.......

Shayne: Normal.?

Michael: Yeah I guess

Shayne: It was ok I just felt stifled being in that little town so as soon as I graduated high school, I was on the first thing smoking to California

Michael: You went to UCLA.?

Shayne: Mmhmm Majored in Photography with a minor in journalism

Michael: Accomplished......I like it

(We laughed.)

Shayne: Enough about me I wanna know about you

Michael: What is there to tell you that you don't already know.?

Shayne: Start wherever you want to

Michael: Ok, I grew up in Gary, Indiana and Joseph worked in the steel mills and Mother stayed home and took care of us, except for when Joseph got laid off, which was often, and then she went to work

Shayne: Doesn't sound so glamorous to me

Michael: We all gotta start somewhere, right.?

Shayne: Yeah.....How'd you feel about getting signed to Motown.?

Michael: Honestly, I don't know how I felt We had been working for at least 5 years before we got signed and I loved to perform Still do But, I hated having to leave my friends and family

Shayne: I couldn't imagine having to leave my family

Michael: But it was all worth it cause when we hit, we hit hard 7 years full of #1 singles, #1 albums, TV specials......It was amazing and we ate up every bit of it

(He sighed heavily and started to play with his hands.)

Shayne: What happened next, Michael.?

Michael: Around '75, Joseph decided that we were going to leave Motown and sign with CBS but Jermaine decided to stay at Motown and go solo That hurt, because the only reason I signed that contract was because I thought that he was coming too

Shayne: Oh, Michael Sometimes, people have to do what's best for them

Michael:(Shrugs) I guess.......For about 3 more years, I suffered through being in the group Then one night,  at a party, I met Quincy Jones and he convinced me to record my own album and that's how Off The Wall came along

In '82, I gathered up my courage and went to Joseph and I told him that I was leaving the group

Shayne: What did he say.?

Michael: He went crazy on me, as expected But, as hard as it was, I stood my ground and I walked away

Shayne: That was amazing Im proud of you

Michael: Thanks Well, that was everything, in a nutshell

Shayne: Thanks for opening up to  me

Michael: Your welcome and thank you

Shayne: No problem

(We sat there. I turned back to the movie but I could feel his eyes on me.)

Michael: Shayne.?

Shayne:(Looks at him) Yes.?

Michael: Would you like to go to dinner with me.?

Shayne:(Smiles) Michael Jackson, are you asking me on a date.?

Michael: Yeah, I am Now, will you.?

Shayne: Of course But, when.? Your gonna be busy starting tomorrow

Michael:(Thinks) How about.....tonight.?

Shayne: Tonight.?

( I thought for a minute. If I dont take this opportunity, who knows when's the next time we'll be able to go out.)

Shayne: Let's go

(He grabbed my hand and we walked out of the theatre. We walked into the garage and he cut on the lights.)

Shayne: No driver tonight.?

Michael: I don't think its normal for three people to go on a date

(I laughed and pushed his shoulder.)

Shayne: Shut up.!

(He grabbed some keys off of the rack and led me to the Benz. We got in, he started the car, and he pulled out of the garage and drove out of the gates. I laid my head on the window and watched the scenery as we drove.

30 minutes later, he pulled in front of this diner. We got out and walked in. The place was designed like an old 50s diner. We walked to a booth and sat down. A waitress came over to us.)

Linny: Michael.? You haven't been here in a while

Michael:(Smiles) Hey Linny I know Ive been working on the album

Linny: How's that going.?

Michael: Amazing It comes out in two weeks, on the 31st

Linny: You know I expect a free one, right.?

Michael: Whatever but Linny, this is Shayne Shayne, this is my good friend, Linny

Shayne: Hi

Linny: Hello Alright, let me stop being unprofessional Are you guys ready to order.?

Shayne: Yeah I'll have the confetti pancakes, sausage links, and an orange juice please

Linny: Alrighty

Michael: And I would like-

Linny: The french toast, sausage patties, and sweet tea (Smiles) I know

Michael: Thank you

Linny: No problem I'll get those to you guys in a while

(She grabbed our menus and walked into the kitchen.)

Shayne: Come here often, huh.?

Michael: I guess This is the only place I could think of where we wouldn't be swarmed by fans

Shayne: I like it Its.....  cozy and different

Michael:(Smiles) Glad you like it

(After waiting for 10 minutes, Linny came back with our food and set it on the table.)

Michael: So Shayne, I've been doing some thinking

Shayne: About.?

Michael: While we're on the tour, I want you by my side, at all times

Shayne: Um, ok Can I ask why.?

Michael: This tour is going to be huge and you've never been on tour, right.?

(I nodded while drinking my orange juice.)

Michael: It can all be pretty scary for a first timer Plus, some fans are crazy and I don't want anything happening to you, alright.?

Shayne: Ok I understand

(We sat in silence and continued to eat.)

Shayne: Michael.?

Michael: Yes.?

Shayne: We never talked about what happened last night

Michael: I was just waiting for you to say something

Shayne: Well, first off, Im sorry for running out like that

Michael: Its ok I know I shocked you when I kissed you Hell, I shocked myself and I shouldn't have done that

Shayne: No.!! (I looked down and played with my fork.) I liked it

Michael: You did.?

Shayne:(Blushes) Yeah

(I covered my face with my hands. All of a sudden, I felt someone sit next to me. He pulled my hands off of my face and held them tightly in his. I looked him in his eyes.)

Michael: Would you mind if I did it again.?

(As soon as I heard that, my heart started to beat 8x faster.)

Shayne: No Michael I wouldn't

(He slowly leaned in and crashed his lips onto mine. I immediately kissed back. He took my hands and placed them around his neck. He then put his hands on my hips.

I opened my mouth a little and he stuck his tongue in. I sucked on his tongue, which my him shiver. I pulled away slowly but not before giving him one more peck.)

Michael: Wow

Shayne: Wow is right

Michael: Shayne, would you do me the honor of being my girlfriend.?

(I sighed in relief. Finally.)

Shayne:(Smiles) Yes Michael I will

(He mouthed a "yes.!!!" and I laughed. He pulled me into a tight hug.)

Michael: I love you

Shayne: I love you too

(He pulled away and we finished our food. After he paid for the food and left a tip, we walked out, got in the car, and pulled off towards Neverland. The whole time, Michael was holding my hand and driving with the other.

Once we pulled into the gates, Michael parked the car in front of the house and we got out. When we walked into the kitchen, Michael broke the silence.)

Michael: You can go sleep in my room, if you want I have some things to take care of

Shayne: You sure.?

Michael: Yeah Go ahead

Shayne: Alright

(I stood up on my tip toes, grabbed his shoulders, and kissed him softly. I pulled away and looked at him.)

Michael: Good night princess

Shayne: Good night Michael

(I walked up the stairs and went into his room. I changed into my pajamas

and made myself comfortable. I drifted off to sleep with a smile on my face and thoughts of Michael.)
