Chapter 5-6: Dude, Are You Kidding?
Finding out that Sebek has disappeared, Epel and the others are trying to search for him.
Eepl calls out, "SEBEEEK! WHERE ARE YOU?!" but can't find him.
"I don't see him, and I'm not hearin' a response," Epel says.
Jade deduces, "He must've gotten thrown off-course when he hit you. It's too dark for us to surmise his whereabouts. And the wind is so loud, it's drowning out our voices."
"What do we do?!" Epel asks.
Idia asks, "Shouldn't we keep racing? Sebek won't need our help getting back on course. He's got, like, a pure stamina build."
"But the final tally includes all of our finishing times. What if he has to drop out of the race?" Epel asks.
"Yes, but if we don't get moving soon, we'll never catch up to the Seven Swords," Jade says, "There's a chance Sebek will recover on his own, but there's no chance we'll win if we search for him. I say we keep moving...unless we're willing to concede victory, which would change things."
Then Epel says, "Look, guys... I think we should all look for Sebek together!"
"Wut. That would be extremely inefficient," India says.
"You're such a kind soul, Epel," Jade says.
Soon, Epel says, "Actually, I have an idea. And I think it's our only shot at winning!"
The two remain silent.
"Well, if you've got a plan, I'm down," Idia says.
"Me too," Jade says, "You were the most serious about winning, so if you're this insistent now, then you must have a sound idea."
Suddenly, they hear familiar voices, "Epel!"
Followed by other voices, "Jade! Sebek! India! Where are you?!
"Those voices?" Epel responds.
Soon, they see the Woodland Speeders: Briar, Serai, Jasper, and Tanzanite riding over.
"Guys, what are you doing?!" Epel asks.
"We heard a loud sound and a scream, and saw a tree falling on the track. We hear you guys calling and rush over to check if you all are okay," Briar says.
"That's nice of you, but you all should keep going," Epel says.
"You sure, we can help," Sereia says.
"Hold on, where Sebek?" Tanzanite asks.
"Sebek saved Epel from a fallen tree and now we can't find him," Jade says.
The girls cry out in shock, "Oh no!"
Meanwhile, somewhere off course from the track, Epel searches around. All he has in his hand is his plushie. In fact, Sebek is now holding on to an ivy in a pit for his life.
He calls out, "EPEEEL! Where are you?!"
So far, no answer, "No answer... " And soon becomes frustrated, "Rgh, how could this happen? I went careening off course when I slammed into Epel's sled... And now I've fallen into some deep pit in the woods. Thankfully I managed to break my fall by grabbing onto some ivy vines, but my sled got smashed to pieces when it fell... At least I still have my squirshie...but it's hardly useful on its own!" Sebek looks to see that his plushie has been damaged from the selfless rescue, "I could climb out easily with a regular rope, but this ivy will snap if I tug too hard on it. Rgh... If only my liege were here. He'd just fly down elegantly without even using a broom! I suppose calling for help is my only option."
Then Sebek calls out, "EPEEEL!"
Suddenly, he hears loud rumbling sounds.
"What in blazes?!" Sebek panics.
Back on the track, the others hear the noise themselves.
"Why is there rumbling?" Jade asks.
"That's not good," Jasper says.
Epel has a sinking feeling, "Don't tell me..."
And soon, they hear loud crashing sounds and notice snow appearing.
Idia realizes in shock, "Avalanche!"
"Sebek's gotta be that way!" Epel says.
"Let's hurry!" Briar says.
Everyone then rushes off track to find Sebek, and fast.
Sebek hears the noise as well, "Is it an avalanche?!" He looks up to notice the vine is tearing, "Oh no... The shaking is making the vines start to tear!"
Suddenly, he hears Epel's voice, "SEBEEEK! ARE YOU THERE?!"
Hearing Epel's voice, Sebek cries out, "EPEL?! I'M HERE!"
"Sebek! I hear you!" Epel calls out.
The group then rushes to find a pit.
Epel is the first to reach it, "There he is! He's stuck in a pit! Idia! Jade! Jasper! Grab the rope from your sleds. We're pulling you up, Sebek! Tanzanite, you and the girls be ready to grab him!"
Epel, Jasper, Idia, and Jasper grab the fine and begin to pull. They pull as Sebek tries to climb back up as fast as he can. Once he reaches Tanzanite and the girls grab hold of Sebek and help pull him back up.
"Boy, talk about the nick of time," Epel says.
"That was too close," Briar says.
"The avalanche started when I called out for help. What a surprise that was..." Sebek says.
Idia asks in shock, Dude, are you kidding? How loud is your voice, Sebek?"
"Sounds like people yelling and causing avalanches isn't unscientific nonsense now, is it?" Jade responds.
"Nevermind that, are you okay?" Briar asks.
"I'm fine. Don't worry," Sebek says.
Epel then says to Sebek, "Sebek, all this happened because you saved me. I'm so sorry!"
"Hmph, I was merely repaying you for repairing my squirshie. Now we're even. Think nothing more of it," Sebek says.
Epel giggles, "Ahaha, classic Sebek. Glad to see you're okay!"
Then Sebek says, "My sled is broken, however. I fear that despite your valiant rescue, I won't be able to continue on..."
But Epel says, "No, we can't give up just yet!"
"But the Seven Swords will be crossing the finish line any minute now," Jade says, "There's no way we can turn this around with our current strategy. We would need to do something drastic."
"I'm afraid Jade is right. We're all too far away. They'll cross the finish line before we can get there," Briar says.
"It will take a miracle to get back," Sereia says.
"Jade is right. If we're going to have any chance of getting there, we need to do something drastic," Jasper says.
Then Epel says, "That's just what I had in mind."
"Oh yes, you mentioned having a plan that you said was our only shot," Jade says.
"You got that right!" Epel says.
