Chapter 12 First Day of Classes
The four of them made it to their first class which was potionology. They luckily had enough time to put on their lab coats before class started. The classroom had a big cauldron with lots of potions in the room. They quickly took their seats as their teacher walked in. His hair is parted at the side, with the longer section colored white and the shorter section black. he wears a thick, black-and-white furry coat, with a tuxedo; consisting of a black dress shirt, red tie, a black-and-white vest, black dress pants, black dress shoes, and a black belt with a silver buckle, studs, and spiky sections, along with red gloves. He looks over at Grim and (Y/n). "Ah. You must be my new homeroom students." He examined Grim's fur and (Y/n)'s hair. "Hm, that's quite the unusual coat of fur. Do make sure that you arrive properly groomed." He yold as (Y/n) nodded at him. "My name is Divus Crewel. You may call me Master Crewel. Now, take your seats. Class is about to begin. We're going to start with the basics." Professor Crewel introduced himself as he began his class. "And by that, I mean beating the names and distinguishing characteristics of one hundred herbs and poisons into your tiny brains. The mycelia are another matter. But eventually, I'm hopeful you'll be able to take a walk without putting anything poisonous into your gaping maws. For now, I realize you have all the self-control of voracious hounds. But I will not abide a single student failing this class. Expect to be drilled accordingly."
"Huh. So... does anyone know what a mycelia is?" Deuce paused his note-taking. "From what I know, a mycelia is a root-like structure of a fungus consisting of a mass of branching, thread-like hyphae. Its surprising to know a lot of things are similar to what we have back home." (Y/n) smiled as she took her notes. "I've never been one for like, memorizing what things are, ya know?" Ace groans. "All I care about is how to tell the yummy plants from the yucky ones." Grim mumbles. "Don't even think about it, Grim." (Y/n) warned.
Once class was dismissed, the four of them were on their way to their next class, until Professor Crewel stopped (Y/n). "A moment please, (Y/n)." (Y/n) gives Grim to Ace and Deuce as they wait outside the classroom for her. "Yes, sir?" She walked over to them. "Since I know Crowley wouldn't give you any other necessities you need for school, I thought I would step up and help with that." He hands her a PE uniform and an extra school uniform for her. "Just let me know if I need to fix the measurements for your uniforms." He said. "Oh, thank you, sir! I will, and thank you again!" (Y/n) smiled as she went back to catch up with Ace, Deuce, and Grim.
Their next classroom was History of Magic class. The classroom was like any other history class with a chalkboard in the background and a stand for the teacher. Everyone took their seats as their history teacher walked in with a cat with black and white fur in his arms. The teacher was a tall elderly man with small grey eyes and greying, neatly combed-back hair. He was wearing a standard black suit beneath long maroon robes. Attached to his collar is a white jabot, which is tied off with a turquoise-colored pendant.
"I am your History of Magic teacher, Mozus Trein. And this is my familiar, Lucius. You are here to learn the rich history of magic, and how it has sculpted the world which you now so easily take for granted." Professor Trein spoke then Lucius meowed at the students. "Mrrrrooowww..."
"I grade based on classroom behavior as well as the quality of work. Don't let me catch you sleeping. Now, let us open our books to page fifteen. This section concerns the magestones discovered in the Dwarfs' Mine..." Professor Trein opens a book as he begins the lesson. "Mrrrrooowww..." Lucius meows again. "As knowledge and awareness of magical energy began to spread across the globe from this point, this year is considered Year One of the Magic Era." Professor Trein continued his lesson. "Mrrrrooowww..." Lucius then lets out a long yawn.
Ace couldn't help but let out a yawn himself. "Fascinating... "Dwarfs' Mine"... Mhm, mhm... "magical energy"..." Deuce nodded to himself as he wrote down his notes. "Maaan... When do we get to the classes where we blow stuff up with magic?" Grim began to get bored. (Y/n) couldn't help but let out a shiver at the mention of the Dwarf's Mine after what happened to them. "Now that place is creepy..."
Lucius noticed (Y/n) shivered from the lesson. He hopped off Professor Trein's arms and walked over to (Y/n). He leaps over to her desk and takes a seat in front of her. He stares at her curiously then (Y/n) smiles as he gives him a scratch under his chin. Lucius purrs from the affection he is receiving. Professor Trien smiled at them before he continued with his lesson.
After the history lesson, the four of them made it to the Sports Field for their PE class. Their coach was a man who was strong and burly very broad-shouldered with a thick neck and thick chest. He has dark brown hair styled in a pompadour and small blue eyes. He also has a thin beard framing his face. He also wears a whistle around his neck, athletic black pants, and a red jacket with gold stripes; a golden stag head is pictured on the right side of his chest. He also wears a golden curled arrow-shaped bracelet on his left wrist.
"I'm Coach Vargas, and physically educating your feeble little bodies is my responsibility. Great sorcery begins with a great physique! Behold the muscles you can build with a diet of raw eggs!" Coach Vargas introduced himself. "A great mage needs a great physical constitution! So gimme twenty laps, and a hundred push-ups!" He began his class.
"Bleah. The forced exercise is bad enough, but meatheads like this guy drive me nuts." Ace rolled his eyes. "Finally! A subject I'm good at!" Deuce grinned as he punched his fist into his hand. "Explain to me the appeal of runnin' around in circles! Do I look like a hamster?" Grim frowns. "I could actually use some exercise to help improve my kombat skills." (Y/n) smiled as she stretched her arms.
Couch Vargas walked over to them. He points at (Y/n). "I heard you're a strong princess! Why don't you show us how you do it back in your world?" He said. "Training is what I do to improve my kombat skills. I'll be happy to show you all." She then runs off leaving Ace, Deuce, and Grim in the dust. Coach Vargas couldn't help but laugh. "I like that girl's spunk!"
After PE, the group was in the Interior Hallway making their way towards their next class. "Let's see, our next class is..." Deuce tried to see what their next class would be. "This so-called magic academy feels a lot like a lame, ordinary school. It's not exactly what I expected, but at least this collar won't be much of a problem after all. You with me on that, Grim? ...Hm?" Ace asked but didn't get a response. They all looked down to see if he was still standing next to (Y/n). "Wait! Where'd Grim ran off too?!" (Y/n) began to panic. "Oh! Look out the window! I just saw a ball of fur running across the yard!" Deuce pointed at the window. They all ran towards the window and they saw Grim running away in the Courtyard. "No way am I puttin' up with this boring routine day in and day out. I'm Grim, Sorcerer Prodigy, and I don't need no one to teach me how to blow stuff up!" Grim yelled out. "Grim! You little weasel! Come back here this instant!" (Y/n) screamed. "Boy, that guy is not a fast learner." Deuce shakes his head in disbelief.
Ace then got an idea as he smirked at (Y/n). "Not a good look to lose your only student on your first day as prefect. Want help catching him?" (Y/n) nodded rapidly at him. "Yes, please! That would be helpful!" Ace then pretends to think. "I do love the chocolate croissants at the co-op." Deuce smirked as he joined him. "I'd do it for an iced latte at the cafeteria." (Y/n) glared at them. "Excuse me?"
"Grim's getting away... Do we have a deal, or what?" Ace pointed out. Having enough of their childish action, (Y/n) pointed her weapons at them. They gulp at the tessen war fan. "Care to repeat that?" She threatened. "On second thought, I don't need that chocolate croissant anymore." Ace gave a nervous smile. "I don't need that iced latte either!" Deuce sweat dropped. "That's what I thought. Now, help me catch Grim!" (Y/n) yelled before she put her weapons away. She then leaps out of the window to get a head start to catch Grim. "Note to self, never make (Y/n) mad." Deuce said nervously. "Yeah, I gotta remember that." Ace agreed. He quickly found a net to try to catch Grim with it. The three of them chased Grim for a few minutes before (Y/n) used her tessen war fans to create a mini tornado to trap in. Grim screams as he begins to get dizzy. (Y/n) guided the mini tornado to Ace as he used the net to catch Grim.
With Grim being dizzy, Deuce handed him to (Y/n). She glares at the boys as they shiver at her death glare. "Never blackmail me again." She said with venom in her tone. "Yes, ma'am!" They shrieked. Grim finally regains consciousness, he tries to get out of (Y/n)'s arms. "Mrrah! I've had it with these boring classes!" He whines. "Enough, Grim! How are you supposed to become a great mage if you skip your lessons!" (Y/n) scolded. "UGH! When did you get all bossy?" Grim pouts as they all walk back inside.
