Chapter 2-7: Time to Jam

Time has passed...

Rook says, "The sun is fading steadily from view—and Port Fest nears its conclusion."

"Which means it's just about time for us to give these people a show! Only 15 minutes to go!" Jack says.

Ruggie then says, "Man, I've got the jitters. I just keep imagining how bad it'll be if we screw this up."

'Seriously, waitin' around is AGONY! I just wanna do this thing!" Floyd says.

Rook chuckles, "Heh heh. Shall we make our way to the Golden Straw, then? And Trickster, please record every second of our show!"

"Catch you after, Briar. You too, guys," Jack says.

"See you at the concern," Briar says.

"Bye," The others reply.

Then the boys take their leave to get ready for the show.

Sometime later, at the Wharf, Briar and the others show Crowley their results.

"Ah, our esteemed keepers of the record! Come right this way, we've special seats for you," Crowley says.

Grim happily cheers, "Whoa ho ho, front row, baby!"

"The merchants of the shopping district were kind enough to arrange them," Crowley says.

Soon, Cater calls out, "Briar! Grim! Sereia! Jasper! Tanzanite! Trinket! We're all here to see the show too!"

Briar and the others turn to see Cater and the others arrive to see the show.

"We wouldn't miss it for the world! Not long to wait now!" Lilia says.

"This'd better be worth draggin' myself all the way here," Leona says.

Vil notices, "Quite a large audience they have. But the grand finale at Port Fest would certainly command a lot of attention."

"They shall be performing atop that ship's stage," Malleus says.

"Yep. They're even listed in the program— 'grand finale concert.'" Trey says.

Lilia is surprised, "Goodness, who knew that Jack and the rest of those lads had any musical talent!"

"How cool is that?! The Pop Music Club should get together and jam with them sometime!" Kalim says with a smile.

"Ooh, yeah! Or even a little battle of the bands!" Cater says, excited.

But Epel says, "I'm a bit concerned that Jack and Ruggie said they only learned how to play instruments like... in the last few days."

"Rook was also quite plain in stating he doesn't— or didn't—play," Azul says.

The three of them were awfully confident, considering that," Jamil says.

And Vil says, "Well, with Rook in the mix, it won't be a boring show, whether they can play or not. I'm looking forward to seeing what they do."

"They have Floyd. They'll be fine," Jade says.

"Oh, assuredly. When the mood strikes him, Floyd is a regular musical virtuoso," Azul says.

"Yes. When the mood strikes him," Jade says.

And Ace says, "...Not sure I can take the suspense much longer."

Then Ortho says, "It's time for the concert to start!"

"Finally. I'm gonna just sit back and see how this unfolds," Leona says.

"Look, they're coming out on stage!" Kalim says.

Jasper shouts, "YOU GOT THIS!"

"YOU CAN DO IT GUYS!" Briar calls out.

"We're rooting for you!" Sereia cheers.

On the Gold Straw Deck, Jack, Ruggie, rook, and Floyd enter the stage.

"Hey, that sounded like Briar, Jasper, and Sereia cheering from the audience," Jack says, "Now I'm really amped up!"

"Yo, Briar's cheering for us," Ruggie says.

"Little Shrimpy's right over there in front. Heeey!" Floyd says and waves.

Rook giggles, "Heh heh. Merci, Trickster. My passion grows all the stronger!"

"That cheer was definitely turned up to 11," Ruggie says.

"Oui. We cannot let our dear friend down—no sloppy performances today!" Rook says.

"Let's rock their faces off!" Floyd cheers.

"That's the spirit! C'mon, guys! Time to jam!" Jack says.

Soon, the four boys on the committee begin their concert. Surprisingly, they aren't using normal instruments, they're using brooms, trash cans, pans, and other supplies as instruments to make the music. Everyone is surprised, but are amazed by the performance the committee is giving them.

Jack shouts, "AW, YEAH! This is awesome!"

"Ahaha, I'm totally feelin' the music! I just wanna bust a move! What a rush!" Floyd says.

"Looks like the audience is diggin' it, too. I can feel their excitement from here!" Ruggie says.

"Très bien!" Rook says.

'We can't let 'em down now! Let's give the people what they want!" Jack says.

Jack then removes his jacket and really kick things off with the music.

The group continues to play the music with the items.

The audience sure loved it, "Woohoo! Yeah!"

"You're really gettin' into this, Sea Urchin," Floyd says.

"Indeed! Such passion! It is simply marvelous! We must give our all as well!" Ruggie says.

"Can't let him leave us in the dust, I guess..." Ruggie says and calls out, "HOLD ON TO YOUR HATS, PEOPLE!"

At the wharf, everyone in the audience cheers, "WHOOOO!"

Even Ace is surprised, "Whoooa!"

"Mops, buckets, ladles, trash cans... Are they seriously using kitchen stuff and cleaning supplies to play music?!" Deuce says.

Vil says, "I've seen this kind of show before. It's derived from street dance, where people often stamp their feet and clap their hands to make the rhythm. Here, they're using buckets, brushes, and trash cans in place of percussion instruments."

"I've never heard of such a thing," Epel says.

"I've seen performances like this on TV. I tried my hand at it, but it was really hard," Jamil says.

"Indeed. You need a strong sense of rhythm and tremendous physical stamina. And excellent cooperation between your bandmates is paramount. It's most certainly a great challenge," Vil says.

"And here I thought they were just gonna play trumpets and stuff!" Kalim says.

"That's likely what the rest of the audience thought too," Riddle says.

"The whole production sure caught me by surprise! Those youngins did a good job," Lilia says.

"I thought it was going to be a letdown for sure, yet here we are," Trey says.

"Yeah, all these peeps are ridiculously hyped!" Cater says.

"There's hardly a person in the world who wouldn't be thrilled to see such an impressive performance. I dare say they just might be showing off," Vil says.

And Azul says, "To be honest, I was curious how those three musical neophytes were going to keep up and not get on Floyd's nerves... But he looks like he's having the time of his life. They all do, in fact. The performance certainly suits such an active, dynamic group."

"And just listen to that applause. They came together themselves, then they got everyone in the audience to come together as well," Jade says.

"A fitting end to Port Fest," Malleus says.

Even Leona comments, "Gotta give 'em credit, that show did it for me. Jack was all worried about it, but it looks like he racked his brains and pulled out somethin' pretty ingenious.

Guess I gotta give him a passing grade on this one."
