Chapter 80: An Actor's Cries
Soon, the chariot flies out of the opening as the sun begins to rise in the sky.
Rook happily says, "Ahh, behold the beauty of dawn's light. The morning sun pierces the darkness. It feels truly divine."
"You're right. How beautiful..." Vil says.
And soon, Vil begins sobbing, and lets out a cry, "WAAAH!"
That catches everyone off guard.
"What's wrong, Vil?" Sereia asks, worried.
"I'm only 18, yet here I am, a wizened old grandpa... What am I supposed to do?! I can't get cast as teenagers or young men now! I'd hoped I'd get to play middle-aged roles like dads at some point too. And yet... And yet... IT'S NOT FAAAIR!" Vil cries.
Grim covers his ears, "Yeesh, blow my ears out, why don'tcha."
"What happened to all that talk about bein' the fairest one of all?" Leona questions.
"1 was CLEARLY posturing to keep things under control!" Vil answers.
And continues to cry, "WAAAH!"
"So you ad-libbed that whole speech? I suppose I shouldn't be surprised," Azul says.
"What incredible mental fortitude..." Jasper says.
"I don't know what else to add to this,"
"Poor Vil," Briar says, feeling sorry for him.
Of course, her and Riddle are under the same condition, but Vil suffered a harsher blow.
"My dear Roi du Poison, your tears are truly heartrending," Rook says. "Even on the off chance you never regain your youth, you are without question the fairest one of all."
"I know. But that's not the point!" Vil says, and continues sobbing.
Epel turns to the driver seat, "Floor it, Captain! Please just get us back to school!"
Vil soon lets out another wail, "WAAAH!"
Soon, the captain drives the chariot back to the school, and fast.
Grim continues to cover his ears, "Can someone please make him stop? Or at least talk about something else?"
"Speaking of something to talk about, there is something I want to ask you," Sereia replies.
"What's that?" Briar asks.
"Well, um, it's about what you said before," Briar says, "Are you really a princess? Did you really get your memories back?"
This ends up catching everyone's attention and everyone turns to Briar, waiting for her to answer.
Briar takes a breather a little bit, and decides to answer Sereia's questions, "Well, there are still some parts of my memories that are fuzzy, but what I said was really true. My real birth name is Briar Rosetta Seerwood. The last surviving daughter of the Seerwood royal family of Hollow Fae, and the last species of Salubrious Faes."
Riddle, Azul, Leona, Vil, and Jamil are surprised to hear it, but at the same time, they're also relieved. As for Sereia and the others, it's a real shock.
"Wait a minute... BRIAR WAS A PRINCESS?!" Jasper exclaims in shock.
"Well kind of, not sure if I'm considered one anymore. My home, my kingdom, and even my family are gone," Briar says.
"What do you mean by gone?" Tanzanite asks, worried.
"Well guys, apparently my kingdom, especially my species of fae, were dying out from some unknown disease. I was the only one who was able to be given the cure. And then, Aura, my older sister, used every last of her strength and her magic to change me into a human, sealed my magic, and transported me into Earth. Where I stayed there for years," Briar says.
"Eh?! You had an older sister, and she performed that kind of magic?!" Epel asks, surprised.
"Yes. But sadly, she ended up using all her strength and magic to send me there. My sister ended up saving my life, but it ended up costing me. And the medallion you saw me wearing, it really belongs to my sister. She gave it to me so I'll be protected," Briar says.
And sadly says, "But I lost it now."
"Don't worry, Malleus has it," Sereia says.
"He does?" Briar asks, surprised.
"Yeah. He wanted to borrow it. I guess we were in a rush, we forgot to ask for it back," Tanzanite says.
"That's okay. I'm sure we can get it back once we get back to the school," Briar says.
Grim grins, "Wait till everyone gets a load of this! My minion was a princess!"
"Hey, Briar is not your minion!" Jasper angrily says, "Princess or not!"
Trinket rolls her eyes in response.
"Well, it seems that we've got a lot of explaining to do when we get back to school, including the fact that we've learned about your origin," Riddle says.
"Indeed. However, one thing for sure, Briar wasn't just transported from one world to another. She went to another world as a child, and now, she's been returned home," Jamil says.
"That seems logical, but the question is how," Azul says.
"I'm not sure. I guess there's still one mystery to figure out. One thing for sure, I'm going to have a lot of explaining to do to the others when we get back," Briar says.
"Indeed. When word gets out of who you really were, it would cause an uproar," Riddle says.
Leona sighs, "That sounds like a real hassle."
"Yeah. I'll have to explain this to Mal as well," Briar says.
"Mal?" Sereia asks.
Briar blushes, "Uh, to be honest, I actually remember that Malleus' family and my family were allies, and I was really with him when I was little. I used to call him, Mal. It's short for Malleus."
Leona sighs with an annoyed expression, "Should have known."
"Yes. You sure know how to give Malleus some interesting names," Jamil says with a sigh.
"Well if he likes it, who cares," Grim says.
Briar becomes worried, "But still, after so long, what will I say to him?"
"I think it's best that you speak from your heart and mind. I'm sure the right words will come out," Riddle says.
Briar smiles, "Thanks."
Sometime later, the chariot lands in the sports field of Night Raven College. Everyone is relieved to be back. Soon, everyone begins to climb off the chariot.
Leona groans, "Uuugh... Finally made it. My eardrums are about to burst after listenin' to Vil's wailin' for three hours straight."
He's definitely not a famous actor for nothing. He can project way better than regular people.," Jamil says.
Grim groans, "Augh, his crying's still ringin' in my ears."
"Yeah. Part of me can still hear this guy crying," Jasper says.
"Can you blame him after such a sudden and drastic transformation? He has every right to be distressed," Azul replies.
"Very true," Riddle says, "Let's get Vil to the school's medical mage for an examination."
As walking off the chariot, Rook asks Vil, "Vil, can you walk?"
"D... Don't treat me like I'm about to crumble to dust," Vil says, still upset.
But Epel says, "Come on, don't be stubborn now. You can lean on our shoulders."
And with that, Vil decides to accept their help.
Suddenly, they hear footsteps and a familiar cry, "LEONA!"
Everyone turns to see Ruggie and Jack rushing towards them. They soon stop in front of Leona.
Ruggie shouts, "You managed to make it back in one piece! And you're still standing as annoyingly tall as ever! I was afraid you might not come back, and then all that time I spent sucking up to you would've been for nothing... Whew! What a load off!
"Your greeting just now canceled out all the sucking up you've ever done, Ruggie," Leona says.
Ruggie grins, "Whoop, pardon me. Guess I was so relieved to have my boss back, that just slipped out!"
Leona scoffs, Hmph. The nerve of this guy."
"Looks like everyone's back safe and sound..." Jack says.
Suddenly, he notices someone missing, "Hey, wait. Where's Vil?" and notice someone else in his place, "And who's this old man? Why's he wearin' a Pomefiore dorm uniform?"
Epel panics, "Jack, no! Not the O-word!"
Vil cries out, "WHO ARE YOU CALLING OLD?! I'm still 18..." and begins weeping.
Soon, Jack realizes, "Wait...is that you, Vil?"
"Isn't it obvious?!" Vil says.
Jack and Ruggie are shocked.
And Ruggie exclaims in shock, "DUDE, WHAT?!"
