Chapter 67: An Even Deeper Trek Tower 2 Part 25

Soon, after aiming the Thunder Spear, he fires it at the Ice Titan with full force.

The Titan screams, "UUURGH!"

The Titan falls off the stairs and deeper into Tartarus and they hear a loud thud to the ground.

"The Titan fell deeper into Tartarus..." Jamil says.

"Yeah. that was too close," Jasper says.

Leona lets out a deep breath and shows signs of exhaustion, "It's gotta be over now.... Urgh!"

"Leona!" Jasper reacts in shock.

Jamil helps Leona up, "I've never seen you fall to your knees before. Are you okay?"

Just then, the Navi announces, "Thunder Spear battery low. 10% charge remaining."

"Looks like it runs down on power," Jasper says.

"Makes sense, I suppose," Jamil says, "Even just carrying the spear takes a lot, and you actually used it yourself. Twice, no less. If the map's right, there should be another hangar up ahead. Let's take a break there."

"Yeah. Let's go," Jasper says.

Jamil and Jasper help Leona up and escort him to the second hanger nearby. Once they're inside, They help Leona sit down on the ground.

"Whew, I can finally relax," Leona says, sighing in exhaustion.

Then turns to the others, "Hey, snake. Dwarf cat. Go charge the Thunder Spear at the station over there. No tellin' what we'll face next."

"All right, will do," Jamil says.

"Okay," Jasper replies, rolling his eyes.

Jamil and Jasper carry the Thunder Spear and Jamil places it on the charger. Finally, the two can sit and relax along with Leona, exhausted from what happened.

Jamil turns to Leona, "Hey, Leona, l... l wanted to thank you. You were right. I was being arrogant."

"Huh. Look at you, bein' all modest," Leona says with a smirk on his face,

"I am, yes," Jamil says, "I've always judged those around me as stupid, incompetent, lazy, or just plain good-for-nothing."

"Wonder who that last one was aimed at," Leona replies.

"But maybe that's just what I wanted to believe," Jamil responds.

"You think you see yourself more clearly now?" Leona questions.

Yes. I haven't even caught up to my peers. Which means... I have more room to grow than anyone else, right?" Jamil says.

Leona laughs, "Hahaha! Listen to you!"

"Heh. Didn't you say shamelessness was a strength?" Jamil says with laughter.

"Hey, I'm into it," Leona says. "Anyway, we'll rest up here 'til the spear's done charging. After all, we'll be dropping in on Radish Sprout and his brother soon."

"...Yes, sir," Jamil says.

"Yeah," Jasper says.

Then Leona says, "Time for some grub, then. Go scrounge up whatever food they've got lyin' around. Enough for all of us, of course."

"Uh, okay," Jamil replies.

But then says, "But don't bring me any dry, stale rations. I've got a refined palate, you know. Oh, and I'm in the mood for a sports drink, not just plain water. I'm sure you'll find one if you search every nook and cranny."

Jamil and Jasper look dumbfounded to hear that.

"Uh..." Jamil responds, confused.

Leona continues, "I'm also gonna need a bed of some sort. You don't expect me to sleep on this hard floor, do you? So get that together for me. You can track down some blankets, or just lemme use your hoodie for cushioning."

Jamil and Jasper frown and turn their eyes to each other with narrow eyes. Then turns to Leona as he speaks.

"And after we get back to school—" Leona says.

But then Jamil speaks up in shock, "Wait, what?! There's no way I'm looking after you for that long!"

"Oh yeah? I figured you wouldn't mind me bossin' you around, seein' as you're actin' so meek an' al," Leona says in remark, "Heh. You sure you wanna turn me down? Joining me could have its benefits."

Of course, Jamil refuses, "Absolutely! I reject your offer in the strongest possible terms! I shudder to think of it!"

"Sheesh, no need to sugarcoat it..." Leona says, annoyed.

"I'm not about to accept a life spent attending to someone else," Jamil says. And smirks, "I never have, and I never will!"
