The three then rush to the first cage that is labeled, "PTM-3187". Upon arriving, the cage begins shaking.

"Looks like we got a live one," Leona says.

"No kidding. The Phantom might burst out the moment we open the door. I'll get some distance before I cast my spell," Jamil says. Then turns to the others, "Get behind me and-"

But Leona already acts and uses his magic to break the cage open.

"Leona?!" Jamil exclaims.

"Quit draggin' your feet. It's coming for us!" Leona says.

Soon, the three begin to fight off the Phantom with their magic. The Phantom tries to fight back, but the three end up being too much for it. And soon enough, the Phantom is defeated and melted into a puddle of black ink.

Once the Phantom is gone, Leona looks inside and says, "...No key inside. Tch, what a waste of time."

Just then, Jamil asks, "What was that about?"

"You got a problem or somethin'?" Leona questions with a frown.

I'm supposed to be opening the cages. You firing off a spell behind me is not part of the plan," Jamil says.

"Oh, did you wanna open the cage? Sorry to steal your fun," Leona says in remark, "You were making like you were gonna run away, so I thought you'd chickened out."

"Not in the least!" Jamil says, annoyed, "I said I was getting some distance to ready myself for the Phantom-"

"Yeah, whatever. Onto the next cage," Leona says, and walks to the next cage.

Jamil shows a deep frown on his face, which Jasper soon noticed. They soon follow Leona to the next cage that's label "PTM-5044"

"Here's the next one," Leona says.

"Okay, I'm going to open it. Hrgh!" Jamil says, and casts his magic at the cage.

With a loud bang, the cage bursts open. However, nothing is coming out.

"...Nothing's happening. Is the cage empty?" Jamil says, "I'll check inside. You stay here and-" and begins to walk inside the cage.

But Leona says, "Don't just waltz in there like a chump!"

"I have to agree with Leona on this one, what if that Phantom is still..." Jasper says.

Suddenly, they hear a loud roar, "GRAAAGH!"

"Hrk!" Jamil yelps.

"...In there," Jasper finished.

Leona then begins to cast his magic, "Sheesh. Why do I always get stuck babysitting?"

And then uses his magic to attack the Phantom.

"Leona..." Jamil says, surprised.

Then Leona says, "You can thank me later. Brace yourself!"

The three act fast and attack the Phantom so that it doesn't have time to attack. Once they defeat the Phantom, it quickly melted.

"Welp, it's not that one either," Leona says.

"Thank you for coming to my aid," Jamil says, "I'll make sure to repay the favor as soon as I can."

"Nobody expects you to do anything. Let's just move on," Leona says, and walks away.

Jasper mutters, "Sheesh, what a grouch," and follows Leona from behind.

"Rgh..." Jamil says, frustrated, "No matter how much of a hassle this is, it's still tactically sound to keep working with Leona. I'll just have to swallow my pride and deal with it."

The three soon walk to the next cage "PTM-2510".

"I'm going to open this one next," Jamil says, But says in thought, "That said, I can't keep burning through my magic reserves like this. I'd like to avoid running dry before we reach our destination. How do I conserve my energy while..."

Suddenly he hears Jasper's voice, "No way, you've done enough. I'll handle this one."

And with that, Jasper casts his magic at the cage, creating a hole in it.

"Hey! Don't blast the cage open like that!" Jamil calls out.

"Sorry about that, but you need a break," Jasper says, holding his pen.

"Just stand back and watch. I'll deal with this," Leona says, walking forward and inside the cage.

"Hey!" Jasper says.

"Huh? Leona?! Wait!" Jamil calls out, and grows even more frustrated, "Who do you think I'm looking out for when I open these cages?! Argh, you don't listen at all!"

"Come let's go after him," Jasper says.

The two follow Leona into the cage to see him fighting a Phantom. Both Jamil and Jasper cast their magic to attack the Phantom. The Phantom is soon defeated and turned into ink

"...Doesn't look like there's a key in here," Jasper says.

"Unfortunately not," Jamil says," But could we go back to what you just did?"

"Oh, that? Why'd you tag along anyway?" Leona questions, "I told you to stand back and watch."

"Of course I wasn't going to do that!" Jamil says, "There's no telling what could happen to you. How many times must I beg you to refrain from acting on your own?! This is exhausting. Please, could you just follow my lead next time?"

"Come on, we still have another cage to look at," Jasper says.

He soon reaches the other cage, labeled, "PTM-8812".

Leona walks over, "Hey, is this the right cage?"

"I don't care! Just get me out of here!" The researcher cries out.

"He's so freaked out he's not even listenin'," Leona says.

"He's holding up his own rescue. This just goes to show that it never pays to lose your cool," Jamil says.

Soon, hear a banging sound coming from the cage.

"Sounds like this one is really getting rowdy," Jamil says.

"I don't know if there's a key inside, but there's definitely an awakened Phantom in that thing," Jamil says.

"We'll just have to destroy it and check for ourselves," Leona says.

Leona then uses his magic on the cage, busting it open, and the Phantom comes out. Jasper, Jamil, and Leona cast their magic to attack the Phantom that is trying to attack them. The three continue to attack the creature. Soon enough, the Phantom has been defeated and has dissolved into Ink. When the Phantom is gone, they hear a clatter.

Jamil quickly notices, "Aha! A key! Looks like this was the right cage. Now to release the researcher."

Jamil rushes and uses the key to unlock the cable to free the researcher.

"Augh, hurry! I'm running out of air..." The researcher cries out.

"Calm down! We can't reach you if you keep flailing about! We're trying to help!" Jamil calls out.

But then Leona says, "...Hey, wait a minute. Stand up."

"Huh?" The researcher says, confused.

The researcher stands up, and sees the water only goes up to the chest area, leaving the group dumbfounded.

"Wait... When you stand, the water only comes up to your chest! At most!" Jamil says.

"You've got to be kidding," Jasper says, annoyed.

"I was thrashing around so much I didn't even notice..." The researcher says.

"Is everyone in Styx an idiot?" Leona questions, completely annoyed.

"Oof... That hurts..." the researcher says, offended, "I guess I let the fear get to me. Sorry about that."

"How about instead of mopin' you give us the password or ID card to get out of here? I assume you got 'em since you work here," Leona says, still not in the mood.

"I do. I think I'd probably slow you two down if I came with you, though," The research says, "I'm sorry I can't do more. Please, save our island... and the world!"

"We can't promise anything, but we'll try our best," Jamil says.

The researcher then types down the code and it opens, allowing the three to an exit for them to get through.
