Chapter 61: A Villainous Speech
The Technicians turn to see Briar and the others have reached the control room.
"You're the subjects from Night Raven College!" The first technician says in shock.
"You were put in isolated cells. How did you get here?!" The female technician asks, shocked
Jamil turns to the staff member, "Thank you for your help. You're free to go."
"Yes, sir..." The staff says in a daze, and soon released from Jamil's magic.
When he comes too, the Styx Staff begins to panic, "What?! Why am I here?! I thought I was on my way to an escape terminal!"
Soon, the technicians become aware of the situation.
The female technician says, "Brace yourselves, boys. Here they come! Subject D used his signature spell to control a member of our staff!"
"How we got here doesn't matter. Where's the acting director?" Leona says.
"Yes. Where's Idia?" Briar adds.
"Mr. Shroud is..." The male technician says.
Suddenly, a familiar voice appears, "If you're looking for my brother, he's with me."
Everyone in the room becomes shocked to hear the voice.
"That voice... Ortho?" Azul asks, shocked.
Suddenly, a holographic image of Ortho appears, and says, "You certainly are SSR Epic Troublemakers. Your cell doors were designed to not open from the inside.
"Oh, yes... Now that you mention it, something about them didn't seem quite right, but we managed to get them open," Vil says.
He then asks, "Now what exactly is going on? I believe we deserve an explanation from the boss. Where are you right now?"
"Sorry, my brother's indisposed at the moment, so you'll have to talk to me instead," Ortho says.
"But where are you right now?" Briar adds.
"We're currently in the lowest sector of Tartarus-the Underworld," Ortho says, "We're going to free all our friends trapped in here."
"Your friends?" Vil questions.
"You told me something interesting, Vil Schoenheit," Ortho says, "It will always be a zero-percent chance as long as you believe it impossible and refuse to act. I don't want to let zero stay zero. So I'm taking action to claim the future we want!"
"What do you mean by that...?" Vil asks, calm but sounds concerned.
"As long as Tartarus and the Underworld exist, we Watchmen can't leave the Island of Woe," Ortho explains, "But if we destroy the current world and rebuild it into one where we coexist with Phantoms. We'll be able to go anywhere! You see?"
"What?!" Everyone in the room exclaimed in shock.
Ortho turns to Vil, "Thank you for giving us a positive nudge in the right direction, Vil Schoenheit.
"So your plan is to release the Phantoms contained here and destroy the world?!" Vil asks.
Then Ortho explains, "This world has too much extraneous save data. It needs to reset before we can start a new game. We're going to do a clean boot. And opening Tartarus and the Underworld is the first step!"
"Unbelievable. You two want to remake the whole world?" Vil questions, shocked, "That's..." Suddenly, Vil begins to laugh, Heh... Hmhmhm... Ahahahaha! That's GOLD. Consider me impressed."
"What?" Ortho questions.
Then Vil says, "It's a major step up from moping about change being impossible! I applaud your effort."
Briar and the others are shocked by what Vil is saying.
Vil?! What are you saying?!" Riddle asks, shocked.
"You do?! Does that mean you'll join us?" Ortho asks happily.
But Vil says, "Not in the least."
"Huh?" Ortho replies, confused.
"Much like yourselves, I have a dream I'm not willing to yield," Vil says, "A dream to be the fairest one of all. And unfortunately for you, I haven't gotten there yet. Your little reset would put a considerable damper on my plans. If I'd already achieved my dream, I'd be perfectly happy to try for it again in your new world, but here we are. Hence... I'm going to crush your plan with everything."
Ortho is shocked by what Vil just said.
Then Leona says, "I'll grant you one thing."The world totally sucks as it is. But I don't think your new one would be any more to my taste. So I'm gonna stick with this one. It's less of a pain."
And then Jamil says, "I know it must be awful to be trapped by family obligations. But the trouble is, I can't stand getting jerked around by those in power."
Eona
"Phantoms flooding the world would be TERRIBLE for the economy. I'm not about to let the fortune I've so painstakingly built go up in smoke," Azul adds.
And Riddle says, "Rules shouldn't be made with such a self-righteous attitude. I cannot condone your actions."
Ortho then turns to Briar, "What about you Briar?
"What?" Briar replies, confused.
I'm sure you'll join us. After all, you can have a better life than the life you have now. You can make your life better than your previous life, before you lose your memories," Ortho says.
"What do you mean?" Briar asks.
"Well, my brother and I were going to tell you about it eventually, but we become more positive of why you are, or what, anyway," Ortho says.
"What are you babbling about?" Leona questions.
"Well, it's mainly a theory right now, but the facts seem to increase more and more as he examines Briar and this world's history," Ortho says. "However, it's going to come as a shock, especially for Briar?"
"Care to explain?" Jamil questions.
"Yes," Ortho says. Then turns to Briar, "Briar Hawthorne, or should I properly address you as Briar Rosetta Seerwood. It has come to our attention that we strongly believed that you are the last of the Salubrious Fae species, and also the last of the Seerwood's Royal Family."
"WHAT?!" Everyone in the room exclaimed in shock.
Briar is even more shocked, "What?"
Now is Leona's turn to speak up, "Are you pulling our leg? The Seerwood Family died out years ago, along with the rest of your species. Plus, Briar was a human, how can you be sure that Briar is part of that family?"
"That's what we're trying to figure out. The princess and her family are all faes, so at glance, it would be impossible for Briar to belong to the Seerwood Royals, unless..." Ortho says.
"Unless what?" Leona questions.
Riddle's eyes wide in shock, "Unless someone casts a spell on Briar to turn her human.... And seal her magic."
Everyone turns to Riddle.
"Remember, the Dark Mirror said that Briar's magic has been sealed within her. If we can theorize that Briar was part of the family, then someone could have altered Briar's appearance to make her human, and seal away the magical abilities that were once her's. And if that were true, then it's possible that someone could have sent Briar to the other world she was in..." Riddle says.
"Yes, that seems to be possible," Ortho says, "It was recorded that King Antonio, Queen Emilia, and the eldest daughter, Princess Aura have died from the disease that plagued their land, along with the rest of the family and their kind. The youngest and only other daughter, Princess Briar Rosetta was nowhere to be found, although she was presumed dead. Until now..."
Briar listens to everything Ortho says, and is shocked by what the others are saying. What's more, about the theory about her lost memories, and why she was alone until her guardians found her.
Jamily looks at Briar in concern, "Are you okay? I... I understand that this must be a shock for you..."
Briar then speaks up, "I... I remember something... about that woman... was that... my sister... And she was talking to Tsunortaro and Lilia..." and remembers her dream.
Flashback:
"There has to be another way, maybe we could..." Mallues says.
But the grown woman says, "I know it sounds insane, but what choice do we have? My family's bloodline... No, not just my family, my kind's bloodline is in trouble. We're dangerously close to dying out. I plan to stop that from happening. That's why with this spell... My sister's life will be spared, and will be able to continue to carry our family name and the magic we possess..."
"Are you really willing to do this? You've already fallen victim to it, if you try to use your magic, you will..." Lillia says.
"Yes. I'm willing to make that sacrifice, not just for our family and our kind can continue with her veins, but I also want her to live, where she will be safe, and healthy. Sadly, I won't be with her when that happens, but one thing is for sure, my sister must live," The woman says.
Flashback Ends
"I know it's hard to believe because my memory is questionable right now, but that's what I saw," Briar says.
"I see. That's good, but you don't need to worry. Once the world is reset, you don't need to worry about being the only one of your kind anymore, and your memories won't matter," Ortho says.
"What are you saying?" Briar questions, "I can't just forget about it, especially not now. I've been wanting to know where I came from, how I can use magic, and even myself and my birth family. And ever since I got to the school, I feel like I've belonged here, and know that I can use magic, and have made so many friends here. Sure, I sometimes miss the world I came from because it has so many good memories, but I was able to do so much here, and have so many friends. So with that said, I refuse to allow you to destroy this world, and all my friends in it.
Vil nods and says, "There you have it. We all oppose you."
"Oh... That's too bad," Ortho says, disappointed, "I would've liked to play games with you all again. Goodbye then."
And with that, the hologram disappears.
Just then, the alarm goes off. And then, the Charon Soldiers are coming towards them, and there's a lot.
Jamil says in shock, "We've got more Charons incoming!
"And a lot of them!" Riddle says.
Then the Charon says, "Target acquired. Termination mode engaged."
"It would seem Ida and Ortho are serious about taking us out," Azul says.
"How bold of them. They're welcome to try," Vil says.
Then Leona says, "Brace yourselves, everyone. Here they come!"
And with that, Briar and the boys bring out their pens and are ready to fight off the soldiers.
