Chapter 59: Exploring Inside

Hearing about Rook and the others planning to go inside anyway, the Styx Staff says in shock, "You can't go in there! It's too dangerous!"

"We're well aware. But our dear friends are inside," Rook says. "We couldn't possibly abandon them while we save ourselves. Worry not. Night Raven College has trained us in emergency preparedness."

"Oh, I see... All right then," The Styx Staff says. He then hands something over to them, "In that case, you should take this."

Tanzanite then takes the ID Card from the Staff and looks to see a card.

"An ID card?" Tanzanite questions.

"That's right," the Styx Staff says, "The regular IDs don't have high enough clearance to get into the central block where the control room is. This card can get you in there, though. I'm guessing HQ's in total chaos. I don't know how much use it will be in there... But you all can use magic. It's better for you to take the card."

"But don't you need it to escape?" Epel asks.

"Oh, I'll be fine. I was born and raised on this island. I'll manage," The Styx Staff says.

"Then I thank you for your consideration," Rook says.

"No, thank YOU," The Styx Staff says, "Be careful in there, okay?"

And decides to leave the scene.

Rook turns to the others, "...Shall we be off then? Let us fly to our queen's side!"

Everyone nods their heads in agreement, and decides to head inside to find the others.

Meanwhile, in the Styx Institute Hallway, Briar, and the boys are walking down the halls, and have been for a while.

"All these hallways look identical. I can't even tell if we're going towards the control room," Vil says.

"And they're so many different halls," Briar adds.

Then Jamil says, "I've been leaving marks at every turn we've taken. We haven't passed the same place twice, so we SHOULD be making progress. in theory."

"The real problem is there's a ton of doors that require ID cards," Leons says, "If it wasn't for all the stupid anti-magic junk, I'd just turn 'em to sand..."

"I had the same idea, but then remembered what Idia mentioned earlier," Riddle says, "He said all these rooms double as shelters in case of an emergency. So I doubt the doors would break that easily."

"I could use my signature spell, as I did when I escaped my own room... But it would take time, and I don't have unlimited reserves," Vil adds.

"If only there were some staff around... We could wring their -ah, that is, we could politely ask them to explain the situation and show us where to go," Azul says.

Suddenly, they hear loud sounds and banging.

"What was that?!" Vil asks.

Briar looks down the hall, "It came from over there."

Briar and the others soon rush over to see a Styx Staff is being attacked by the Charon Soldier.

The Styx Soldier cries out, "EEEK! Help meee!"

And he's surrounded by Charon Soldiers.

One of them says, "Technomantic beam recharged. Target locked."

"Well, would you look at that? A staff member is getting attacked by a Charon!" Azul says.

"How convenient. I say we save his butt then make him show us the way as repayment," Leona says.

"Really, now... That's not a very princely suggestion," Vil says, displeased by Leona's statement.

But then says, "That said-I'm in agreement. Let's do this!"

Briar lets out a sigh in reply, but she knows that they need to help the guy. Maybe even learn more of what's going on.
