Briar and the others are shocked to hear that the black rocks that Grim has been eating are called Blot Crystal.

"What are blot crystals?" Deuce asks, shocked.

"I believe a quick refresher is in order," Crowley says, "Overblotting occurs when a magic user accumulates more blot than they can handle. Blot, as you know, is a waste product of using magic. It is highly toxic and contains stagnant magical energy. During such incidents, blot manifests in the shape of the practitioner's darkest emotions."

"And when you want to get someone out of and overblot... you gotta rip that manifestation away from them, right?" Ace says.

"At least that's how we've gotten all the overblotters to return to normal so far," Deuce says.

"Just so. One must sever the link to the manifestation to free the magic user. My understanding is that when the manifestation fades, the condensed blot can crystallize," Crowley adds.

"Crystalized?" Tanzanite and Jasper reply.

"Seriously?" Ace adds.

Crowley continues, "Magestones themselves can form when magic flowing through the earth or air happens to crystallize. Blot is essentially magic runoff, so it stands to reason that it could solidify as well. Granted, I've never witnessed it personally. Overblotting itself is exceptionally rare... Hmm."

"Is it really that uncommon?" Briar asks, shocked.

"Yeah. Five students have already gone through an Overblott during this year alone," Jasper says.

Then Ace says, "Okay, lemme see if I got this straight. Blot is bad for people even in small amounts, and the black rocks are hyper-condensed versions of it, right?"

"Correct," Crowley says.

"Which means if someone goes around snacking on them, it's gonna mess with 'em," Ace says.

"Grim went berserk because he ate those rocks...?" Deuce asks, shocked.

"That's probably the case, but I think it also has something to do with how many he ate," Briar says.

"I think you're right. Including what happened at the mine, and after the Overblot has been going around at the school, Grim must have eaten quite a few of them," Sereia says.

"And if that's true, each time Grim ate one of those rocks, Grim must have slowly been blotting inside," Briar says. "And that's probably how and why Grim went berserk. He must have sensed another blot crystal and was trying to find it. And he ended up scratching me because he didn't want me to take it.

"Bear in mind, this is all speculation. It's also worth remembering that while Grim can communicate with all of us, he's still a monster," Crowley says, "Him going 'berserk' may be his true nature. The second day of the culture fair is tomorrow. We cannot leave a dangerous monster on the loose, especially if he's already injured someone."

Hearing the statement shocked the group of students.

"Dangerous?! But this is Grim we're talking about!" Deuce says, shocked.

Trinket nods in reply.

Believe me, I've no desire to condemn him in such a manner. Monster or no, I gave him the benefit of the doubt and admitted him to this school. But we cannot ignore the possibility that he may no longer be fit to remain on campus," Crowley explains.

Briar eyes wide open and softly replies, "What...?"

Then Ace asks, "Hold on, what are you sayin'?"

"Regardless, we must assemble the faculty and housewardens and capture Grim posthaste," Crowley says.

"Oh geez..." Deuce replies.

"I had best be going now," Crowley says.

He then says, "Briar, you and your fellow students must do not leave this dorm. Trappola, Spade, return at once to Heartslabyul." And mumbles to himself, "After all, THEY could mobilize any second..."

"Uh, what now?" Ace questions, thinking he has heard something.

"Oh, nothing," Crowley quickly denies, "Gracious, there's no rest for the wicked..." and takes his leave.

The group remains silent as Crowley's words plague their minds. The fact that Grim might not be able to go to school here anymore, and that he'll be isolated from the others until further notice.

"He said Grim might not be fit to stay on campus... So what, they're just gonna label him a menace now?" Ace questions, frustrated.

And Deuce says, "Grim would never... I mean, sure, he's a glutton who's never heard of self-control, and he can be really selfish at times. But he'd never intentionally hurt Briar or any other student without reason. Surely he wouldn't... Probably... I guess?"

"Dude, you're not helping," Ace says, " Look, monsters ARE feral. I've seen news stories about them attacking human towns and stuff. The headmage isn't being unreasonable."

"Ace, you can't mean that!" Deuce says, shocked.

But Ace then says, "But Grim's hung out with Briar, Sereia, Trinket, Tanzanite, and Jasper for the past six months and he's been just fine... And we've gotten along with him too."

Deuce is surprised by Ace's statement.

He then smiles and says, "Yeah, you're right. All our classmates are comfortable around him as well."

"Ace is right. Grim is our friend, and we gotta help him," Grim says.

"We have to find him and figure out how to help him somehow," Tanzanite says.

"I agree. Ramshackle Dorm Students must stick together," Sereia says.

Trinket agrees.

Then Ace turns to Briar, "So, what's the plan? What do YOU want to do, Briar?"

"What I want to do...?" Briar says to herself.

Briar thinks about it, and thinks of the fun time she has with Grim. From the first day she and Grim to first, to the classes they had together, and all the crazy adventures they had with him. Despite everything she has gone through, Grim has become one of her dearest friends.

Briar then shows determination in her eyes and says, "I have to find Grim! I want to be able to talk to him face to face. I don't want to lose him over this!"

Ace smirks, "I had a feeling you'd say that. Well, let's go bang out this search and find that frustrating furball."

"That's what I'm talkin' about!" Deuce says, "We need to find Grim before the others. That cat's gotta lot of explainin' to do!"

"Then let's hurry," Briar says.

"Come on, let's go," Sereia says.

And with that, Briar and the others hurry outside of the Ramshackle Dorm. Despite them knowing they'll be disobeying Crowley's orders, searching for Grim is their top priority.
