The Last Time I'd See Her
"I guess I did. I fell in love with a mobster."
"She what...?" Soryu mutters, shocked at the revelation. Yumiko, unfortunately, heard the fairly quiet mumble. "Yumi...? You there?" Yukio coaxed, weirded out.
But all they heard was a growl of disapproval before the line clicked, signaling she had hung up.
"Shit... Dammit..." Yukio mutters, picking his phone up from the table, switching it off.
"Why'd you talk?!" he accused the mobster, of course. Camilla, who had entered the lounge, had a wide grin spread over her face as she stood idly, hand on hip.

"We near yet?"
"No... It appears their estate is hours away... Approximately we'll arrive by 5:00 or 6:00 am..."
"Fine, don't disturb me. I'm taking a nap." but her phone began buzzing and ringing, someone calling her. It was Yukio.
"And if any of the bidders or my brother calls you or me, don't answer." "But it could be-"
"I don't care. I'll talk when I'm ready."
"Very well," the man nods and turns a corner. Yumiko sighs as she pulls her varsity jacket around her petite form, using it as a blanket. She curls into a ball on the seat and falls asleep quickly, snoring softly.
Meanwhile, Ryo kept stealing glances at his mistress, thinking if he should follow her rules. He sighs.
If it meant his little sister would be happy, the right hand man would lose everything.
Even his family and the job he loved.

He pulled over for a brief moment, turning around to make sure she was sound asleep, which she was. Ryo smiles quietly and pulls out his phone.
"Master Yukio?"
"Ryo? What are you doing? I would've thought Yumi-"
"I don't have much time Yukio... She ordered me not to call you, but I'm stealing a chance. Put the phone on speaker. Hurry."
The man could hear the assassin on the other line, and soon, he could hear the rest of the bidders. "Hello? I don't have time. Listen, I need to talk to Oh."
"I'm here." The voice of the mafia man was heard and Ryo hurriedly whispers into the phone.
"Oh, you are coming with Yukio to the wedding. And the rest of you, bidders. You need to stop the wedding."
"No we're not. She chose this." Seriously, Soryu?
"No she didn't she needed to do this. But her father doesn't want this, I spoke to him. And you Oh, are the man he wants for his daughter."
All the way over to Japan, the mobster was shocked again. No way he said that... Right?
"The wedding is only 2 days away. It will be this Friday at 7:00 pm. It's your last chance, Oh. Do you love her?"
"I-" But again, he was cut off as Ryo hung up with no other words. "...Well shit just hit the fan... What're we gonna do now, Eisuke?" Mamoru mutters first, turning to the CEO.
"I don't care. This is up to Soryu now. Like Ryo said, do you love her?" he directs the question to his best friend but he turns and leaves before he could reply.
What is with people cutting him off when he talks anymore?
The rest nod at their Boss' words and all leave, including Yukio whilst Camilla stood by the entrance, leaned against the wall as she merrily watched on with amusement.
"You're not leaving me for her, right Sor?" she asks, making the man turn as she struts up to him.
"I never dated or liked you." "Funny coming from the man who kissed me..."
"You forced it!" he accused with a growl, causing the brunette to snicker. But Soryu turned and Camilla tried to tease him, stop him, but he stomped back into his room.
For the rest of the night, he debated whether or not he wanted to go after a girl who was already engaged.
But this was a forced marriage...
But she could be so much happier, what about that, idiot?
But what if I just admit my feelings... At least that.
Don't you understand, stupid?! Shes going to get married! Get over it!
His mind was having an argument with his heart and he was about to decide against the idea when his eyes caught the form of a stack of books.
Pushing himself off the bed, he rose and walked over to the desk piled with books. He picked one up titled 'The Last Case'.
As much as the man hated romance books, it was fitted with detective novels as well, and his mind flashes back to the first time they read together. This was the same book they read together.
As he stares at the book, his hands mindlessly flicking through it when a slip of paper fluttered out a particular page.
He held the page open as he bent down to pick up a... drawing?
It was a boy and a girl that closely resembled them both, standing in an aisle of books in a library. Both had reached for the same book, the boy towering over the girl's petite figure.
What was this...?
He turned the paper over and found a note written on the other side... Well, sort of.
"Our fairy tale. Our happy ending."
He muttered the words to himself but a small scribbled drawing near the bottom caught his eye.
It was a heart with an arrow through it. And inside te shape were the letters:
"S+Y= <3"

"You're not going...?" Eisuke muttered as he watched, alongside the others, the mobster calmly threading a hand through his slicked back hair.
"Yes." he answers. "Then we're staying here." Ota adds.
"SHE WHAT?! FIND HER! NOW!"
Just then, Yukio came bursting in through the doors with his cellphone, yelling at someone across the line.
"What do you mean you can't track her down? RYO, YOU BETTER HAVE FOUND HER BY THE TIME WE'RE AT THE WEDDING!"
"Wait... what did she do?" Baba mutters from the side. But Yukio's next words seemed to answer that.
"She can not be running away from her wedding, Ryo! It's her wedding tomorrow! In a mere 19 hours, she will be walking down that aisle!"
She did what now?
"I'll be there by 2:00 pm tomorrow. If she's not ready... We're going to be making more enemies than allies. And I swear, if you don't find her. Not only will there be a wedding schedule, but a funeral too. Lots of them, got it?"
The man on the other side reluctantly agrees and Yukio angrily turns the phone off. "We need to find Yumiko... She left a letter in Ryo's room and said that she was leaving since she changed her mind."
"Is it that bad?"
"Yes it is! It turns out the gang she was marrying into had a few enemies at the moment and they seem to know about the marriage... If they get to her before she's married..."
"Yesterday might've been the last time we'd see her."
~*****~
They were leaving together, even Soryu, who they had managed to coax into coming.
But he was definitely panicked.
They had rushed to Eisuke's private jet but as they all sat, Eisuke and Yukio were sitting off in a corner, watching over the rest as they drank champagne. But unknown to the rest, the two smirked at each other as they recall the success of their plan.
Meanwhile, Soryu was off by himself as well in a dark corner, looking out the window as he held his head in his hands, Yukio's words echoing in his head.
"Yesterday might've been the last time we'd see her..."
