Something About The Way She Is

"Yumiko! I need you!" The bidders heard the boy assassin calling for his sister, who calmly rose from her seat in the corner of the lounge. They sat on a nearby table together, a few feet away from the bidders, who listened to them converse from their spots on the couches and such.

"By myself? What about you?" "Visiting father, he said he needs me for a separate mission. We need to cover both by tonight. You know the basics, and you've done this solo before." "Fine, my greetings to father, however."

The twins stare at each other for a moment before nodding. They left for their room before coming out with two manila folders. They quietly seat themselves at the bottom steps leading to Eisuke's suite, beginning to flick through each page, sharp eyes reading through each word.

They occasionally glance at each other's files before returning to their own. They read and the bidders, getting bored, went back to chatting. Around 7:00, Yumiko left, only to reappear in a short, skimpy black dress. She wore a brown wig, styled to perfection with dark hazel contacts concealing her red hues. A thin layer of lipstick coated her luscious lips with only a subtle coating of blush and mascara as makeup.

"Yumiko, how many times have I told you not to wear dresses like that?" the bidders all turn to Yumiko at Yukio's words. Their eyes all widen at her indecent clothing but she only shifts her weight onto her right foot, placing her hands on her hips.

"I'm going to a nightclub to seduce a guy, kill him. But key word here, Yuki: seduce. How can I do that? Wearing baggy tops and sweatpants?"

"Something less revealing." "Whatever. Besides, it's not like I'm going to sleep with the guy. Hell, he's freakin' 40."

"Change. Now, Yumi." "Nope, I have my mission clothes under here and I'm not changing." "Yumi, I'm going to shove you into that room to change if you don't." "I'll escape through the window, I can just call for help on the heli."

"Yumi. Change, now." "No, Yuki. I'm 25! I know how to handle myself!"

"And I don't care! You're still my little sister, and it's my duty to take care of you!" "Well I'm not 'little' anymore! You're only older by 5 minutes!"

"And I still think of you as my younger sister!"

"I'm not going to be your faithful puppy forever, Yukio! I have a life, too!"

"And you have a life because of me! I rescued you, I took care of you! Without me, you'd be dead!"

Pain struck Yumiko harshly and sorrow began to fill her eyes in the form of tears. "Am... Am I that weak to you?" she whispers quietly, eyes downcast as Yukio stands in front of her with regret filling his own eyes.

The bidders were still staring at them, but they possibly couldn't care less. "Sorry, Yumi... I just, you know that-"

"I need to calm down. I'll be back after the mission."

The silver haired girl fixes her wig and makeup once more before leaving the lounge with her purse and jacket. Yukio sighs and sits down again, running a hand through his hair.

Of course, the bidders had to bombard the boy with questions. But Baba and Ota were the first to comfort him with jokes. "You alright, man? That was pretty bad." Ota mutters, approaching the assassin.

"Yeah, Yumiko's pretty stubborn when she wants to be."

"Yeah, but sorry for asking, but what do you mean you 'rescued'  her...?" Baba joins in with a curious grin, sitting beside the assassin, who ponders over talking with them for a moment before walking over to the other three, followed by the artist and thief.

"If you want to know, fine, I'll tell you." he answers the friends, "But might as well tell you all together."

"Alright, so when we were around 4 or 5, parents abandoned us." he began, grabbing a glass of champagne, taking a sip. "We begged not to be left alone, but when Yumiko tried clinging to our dad, he hit her, she fainted. They left us alone with a couple of clothes and like 2 days worth of food. I carried her out of the neighborhood, and we found an alley with a tarp over it. I just used the soft bags as her bed. I let her sleep on the bags, I stayed against the wall. The next day, a guy from the Demonic Angels named Ryo came by and asked if we needed any help."

Despite the nonchalant, disinterested poker faces Soryu, Eisuke, and Mamoru hold, they couldn't deny that they were interested.

"He brought my sister to a clinic but after that, brought us to a shooting range. He trained us, and around the age of 10, we got pretty good and we started doing missions no one else could. Since you know, we were pretty tiny. We earned the trust of 'father' or our boss, and we climbed our way to the top as the first class assassins."

The way they stared at him with intensity, Yukio could tell they were eager to know more. "Our name, the Twisted Two, it has a story. The 'Two', as you may guess, is for the twins part. The 'Twisted' came from the way we kill. We have quite the way to murder." he chuckles.

"But back to the story, even though we do like this life, we know we're also doing this to protect each other. But being her older brother, Yumiko just doesn't understand why I want to protect her. But I know she's just trying to be a less of a burden on me."

"Wait," Baba interrupts, "If you want to protect her, why don't you just let her live a normal life while you work like this? Or just quit together."

"We were children at the time we became official members. We used to both have black hair but after we became part of the team, we got our hair dyed silver and we... you know what, let's just say, we changed our eyes red."

The boys all shuddered at the thought but Yukio, who had finished 6 glasses of champagne, got up with a sigh. "Sorry, got to caught up. I have a mission to do. I'll see you boys later."

He was already wearing a black leather jacket, with a pair of jeans and a black shirt and combat boots. "Wait, Yukio! Can I ask you something?" Ota's light voice called for him before he left.

"What?" he didn't turn around, he just faced the open elevator blankly. "Why do you always wear only one glove? I notice you have the left one. Why do you wear it only one side?"

"Now that, my friend." he chuckles darkly. "I'll let Yumiko tell you."

The boy leaves and the bidder's mind lingers at his words, and to his sister. Only one thought ran through their minds.

'She's different. Something about the way she is...'
