One month later
Jungkook stared at his computer screen, his mind drifting to thoughts of Y/N. He saw her regularly at the restaurant, but their interactions had become infrequent. She hadn't called him either, but why would she? He'd never given her any reason to believe that he was eagerly awaiting her call.
Closing down the document he was working on, he made his way out of his building. He wasn't surprised to find that he was the last person in the office, barring security. The security staff were always on rotation, ensuring everything ran smoothly. His employees went through thorough security checks and training before they were hired, and he took every measure to protect his business from competitors.
He climbed behind the wheel of his car and headed toward the restaurant. It had been too long since he last saw Y/N, and he needed to know that she was okay. Taehyung gave him regular updates, but they weren't as satisfying as seeing her in person. Jungkook missed her deeply.Entering the restaurant, Namjoon greeted him.
"Would you like your regular seat, Mr. Jeon?"
"Yes."
The restaurant was bustling, and Jungkook didn't feel an ounce of guilt for taking the only available table for two.
He didn't see any sign of Y/N and was instead greeted by a male waiter he didn't recognize.
"I need to speak to Taehyung," Jungkook said, his tone brooking no argument.
"Sir, our chef is quite busy right now," the waiter replied.
"I don't care. Tell him Jungkook's here to see him." Jungkook's connection with Taehyung was well known. He had become a silent partner in the restaurant, investing capital that Taehyung needed to get the place up and running. While Taehyung was the talent in the kitchen, Jungkook provided the financial support and had the privilege of dining there whenever he wanted.
Taehyung appeared beside him minutes later, his expression a mix of curiosity and frustration.
"What can I do for you, Jungkook?"
"I wanted to check in on Y/N. Where is she?"
"Namjoon could have told you. It's her Friday off," Taehyung said, sitting down with a sigh.
"How has she been?" Jungkook asked, his concern evident.
Taehyung raised an eyebrow. "You really don't know what's been going on with her?"
"No, I don't," Jungkook admitted. How did he admit to his friend that she hadn't called him once?
"Jungkook, I really hate to break this to you, but I think she's been dating someone for the last month."
Jungkook's eyes widened in surprise. "Y/N's dating someone? Who?"
"Yeah, a guy named Yoongi. I don't know his last name, but they've been seen together frequently. He picks her up from work, and they hang out a lot."
"Why didn't you tell me about this sooner?" Jungkook's voice was tinged with frustration.
"You never asked," Taehyung replied, shrugging. "I told you what would happen if you waited too long. Guess what? I was right."
Jungkook shook his head, a mix of anger and disappointment flashing across his face. "I have to go." He stood up and shook Taehyung's hand. "Thanks for keeping an eye on her."
"I'll never stop," Taehyung said with a knowing look. "She seems happy."
Jungkook didn't reply. Instead, he left the restaurant, his mind racing. He got into his car and drove toward Y/N's apartment, driven by a sudden, urgent need to see her.
He found himself knocking on her door, the sense of urgency making him reckless. What am I doing?
The door creaked open, revealing a pale man with mint-colored hair. He looked at Jungkook with a mix of curiosity and annoyance.
"Can I help you?" the man asked.
"Yeah, I'm looking for Y/N. Does she still live here?" Jungkook asked, glancing around as if the answer might be hidden in the surroundings.
"Yoongi, who's at the door?" Y/N asked, appearing behind him. She wore short shorts and a white vest top, her outfit revealing more skin than Jungkook had ever seen on her. The casual attire highlighted her long legs and toned arms, making Jungkook's heart race with conflicting emotions.
Yoongi, a man with mint-colored hair, glanced back at Y/N with a playful smile. "Jungkook, what are you doing here?" she asked.
"I thought I'd come by and check on you. It's been a while since we last talked," Jungkook said, trying to keep his voice steady.
Y/N's gaze softened as she looked at him, but Yoongi's presence seemed to make things awkward. Yoongi's gestures were smooth and effeminate, adding a touch of flamboyance to the situation.
"Do you know this man, sweetie?" Yoongi asked, turning to Y/N with a teasing smile. Jungkook hated Yooni instantly.
"Yeah, I do. I told you about Anaya right? he is her boyfriend," Y/N explained.
"Oh man, I'm so sorry. Y/N told me all about you," Yoongi said, his voice filled with a melodious charm.
Jungkook's attention remained fixed on Y/N, his frustration mounting. He barely registered Yoongi's presence, who now seemed to be intentionally provoking him with every word.
"Yeah, it's been a hard time. Can I talk to you?" Jungkook asked, his voice laden with concern as he looked directly at Y/N.
Yoongi, seemingly in tune with the tension, placed a hand gently on Y/N's shoulder and said, "Y/N, darling, he clearly needs to see you. I'll make us some coffee." His voice was smooth and melodious, adding a touch of dramatics to the scene. He left the room with a graceful sway in his step, leaving Jungkook and Y/N alone.
Once Yoongi was gone, Y/N folded her arms, her expression a mix of annoyance and curiosity.
"What do you want, Jungkook?"
"You're dating him," Jungkook said, his voice tinged with a mix of disbelief and hurt. "I didn't expect to see you with someone else."
