Chapter 16

As the lilac eyed demon stood there waiting for Sebastian's presence to vanish she spoke out, "Come out from your hiding."

The sound of shuffling feet was heard before the  faces of two children appeared from behind the staircase.

The smaller child held the hand of the other child as he stared at the demon. His expression, though initially surprised, suddenly melted into a smile.

"You've come to save us haven't you?" He asked. "You're going to rescue us."

The demon eyed the child in mild amusement. "I'm not-"

"Say, are you going to kill them?" The child interrupted.

The demon blinked before turning her gaze to the vampires desperately trying to control the panicking children who ran around trying to escape.

"You want me to kill the vampires?" She inquired, contemplating the idea.

To her surprise, the boy shook his head, "I meant them," he said simply, pointing to a small group of older children who had armed themselves with whatever they could get their hands on. The other children were in their early teens, thirteen and fourteen year olds.

"They're always bullying us and stealing our food," the boy said, his voice pouty.

She searched the boy's face and noted the serious gaze in his eyes.

"You're some sort of demon aren't you?" The older boy questioned, holding the smaller boy closer to him.

Glancing to the boy she couldn't suppress the smile spreading to her lips, "I am a demon; quite the hungry demon at that."

"What do you eat?" The smaller boy inquired curiously.

"Souls."

The boy's eyes widened as his mouth made a large "oh,"

"So you're going to eat us?" The older boy asked, his large blue eyes staring into hers with a mixture of shock and amazement.

"Perhaps," she responded.

"Well then, if you're going to eat us then the least you can do is make those bastards suffer," he spat. He held the smaller boy closer to his chest, nearly squeezing him as he glared forward at the group of children gathered together.

It was at that moment that the demon felt something she had never felt before; Sympathy. She couldn't say why she felt that way, but never before had she met a pair of children so heartless and cold. Peering into their eyes she could sense all the pain and suffering they went through.

The smaller boy wriggled his way out of the older boy's grasp and stood in front of her, "I want you to-"

In the middle of his words, the sound of shrieks earned their attention. The demon 's eyes flickered to the group of children who had finally been noticed by the vampires.

"Miss, please kill them..." The little boy whispered, quickly latching onto her, his eyes full of plea.

She could feel herself weakening and a small smile formed on her lips, "Very well, I accept your wish." Placing a hand on his head she looked up and said, "Servants, appear."

In the next moment three identical men appeared out of nowhere, their heads low as they bowed close to the ground.

"Take that child away," She ordered, pointing to the wide eyed blonde boy looking between them.

The identical men stood up and quickly scooped up the older boy.

"Eh? Put me down! Where are you taking me?!" He shrieked, kicking and trying to twist out of their grasp.

"Everything will be fine," The younger boy said, flashing his elder brother a smile, "I'll see you soon, your highness."

All at once, the blonde stopped fighting. His eyes searched the younger boy's face and he muttered, "Watch them suffer. All of them, every last one of them..."

"Yes, Your highness!" The younger boy yelled, bowing like he had done it so many times before.

When the blonde boy was carried out of sight, the younger boy released a sigh and turned to the demon, "I'm ready Missy," he said, no hint of fear in his voice.

The demon smiled, before turning and stepping closer to the human children trying their best to survive against the vampires.

Standing there watching in awe, Luka's mouth widened into a smile. He could barely contain his excitement as the kids who had bullied him and his big brother Jim were killed mercilessly. The vampires were in no better situation and were also killed. When it was all done, the demon turned to him and approached, ruffling his hair again with her hand. She knelt down to eye level and searched his face for a moment before saying, "Your wish has been granted."

Luka nodded, the smile never wavering, "before you eat me, can you promise me something?"

The demon nodded as her liliac eyes contorted into ruby red orbs, no different than a vampires.

"Promise to make Jim happy," Luka said simply, closing his eyes. His smile remained on his face, up until the moment the demon loomed over him and recieved her payment.
