Chapter 11

Stepping foot inside Sanguinem, Sebastian's eyes wandered throughout the area and he made a mental map of what he saw.

His nose twitched as the heavy scent of humans and lingering blood reached him.

Human children wandered around, making sure to stay clear of him with fear evident in their eyes. Sebastian paid the human children no attention and continued to travel around and survey the area.

Despite being underground, the area was spacious and Sebastian calculated just how many humans could be fit inside such a space. As he was making his rounds, a familiar sight drew his attention. It was a slim black tail that flickered with such grace Sebastian immediately had to approach.

"So this is where you were headed to miss Naka," Sebastian murmured, kneeling down and stroking the cat.

The cat purred and nestled up to his pants leg before leaping onto his lap. Sebastian chuckled and continued to stroke her as a blush formed on his cheeks.

Whispering gained his attention and Sebastian glanced over to a pair of children standing a few feet away.

"Forgive me," Sebastian muttered under his breath as he grabbed the cat by the scruff of her neck and stood up.

"Who does this belong to?" he demanded, giving the children a fearful glare as he held the cat forward.

Immediately, the children's eyes widened in fear as the youngest of the two stammered, "I-it's not ours. It belongs to the vampire in that mansion." Pointing a shaking finger forward the child blinked rapidly, trying to maintain their composure.

Following the finger, Sebastian's eyes flickered over to the mansion in question. "Go now," he ordered. The children ran without hesitation.

"Is that where your master lives?" Sebastian cooed, placing the cat down and stroking her.

Apparently sour due to the rough treatment a moment ago, the cat hissed and scampered off, headed in the direction of the mansion.

Sebastian watched her go and sighed. He then turned his gaze away from where the cat had departed and towards his surroundings. While the children had left him like he ordered, a small group of twelve year old boys stared at him from afar.

Sebastian could sense their souls, impure and tainted. It didn't surprise him that they were soiled with natural human desires. The twelve year olds were already heavy with sin and hadn't even come into contact with demons yet. That fact is what earned a smirk from him.

Seeing the smirk on his face startled the males  and like a herd of sheep they instantly scattered.

"Even whilst treated like cattle Humans still act the same," he commented, watching them flee.
