Chapter 12
P.O.V. Alex:
My mind immediately went to Raoul. He had always been the person I turned to. My feet dragged me automatically to the summer house but the lights were off. They were sleeping already I was sure and I didn't want to wake them up. Where else could I go?
P.O.V. Ana:
"Let's go in!" Jules already went ahead before we could say no. What could we do? We had to follow her. My feet felt heavy when I stepped into the studio. The girls looked at me. I had to say something but what could I have said if the only thing I wanted, was to scream at this sweet beautiful woman with a voice of an angel?
"Hi, I'm Ava, we talked on the phone." Ana turned around and started smiling.
"Oh, hi! I'm so glad you guys came. Come on in. Welcome!" Fuck, she was a sweetheart. How couldn't have Alex fell in love with her? What actually happened between those two? How long were they together? Why did they break up?
"Can we look around a bit?" Bridgit asked. Ana just realized that the Queen of Eldorra was in her studio, after her initial shocked face she kept calm, smiled and nodded. I immediately went up to the piano. I had never seen Alexs mother. Did he look like her? My curiosity was too big to handle. I saw a woman with hazelnut eyes, light brown hair and a smile that made you feel warm immediately. She had a dark blue dress on and held a red rose in front of her face. She was probably laughing when this picture got shot. Who made her laugh?
"Oh please come upstairs, I can make you guys a cup of coffee." Us four girls looked at each other and then nodded in Anas direction. The 'apartment' upstairs was filled with pictures. There was a picture of Alexs mom and Ana as a child standing in front of a dancing school. Behind the sofa was a big picture. There were four adults. I recognised Alexs mom, next to her was standing a man with dark brown wavy hair and green eyes who looked exactly like Alex, so that must be his dad. Next to him was a couple, both had black hair and dark eyes, both as beautiful as the first couple. Alexs dad was holding a girl. Wait, no. Did Alex have a sister? Was she killed too? Or was that someone else? If she was his sister and she were alive, I would have met her or at least heard about her, right? You didn't know about Raoul. That was different. Then there were three kids lying on the floor. They were holding themselves up with their hands. They must be six or seven at the time. On my left side was Ana, in the middle was a boy who must be Alex and on my right probably Raoul. All of them were genuenly smiling. What I would do to see Alex smiling like this. Then there was another picture. A friend group. A trio. Alex and Raoul as teenagers standing next to each other wearing a devilish smile and crossing their arms, then there was also Ana who put her arms around the boys necks and laughed. The picture before was a picture of family, this picture is a picture of friends. Happiness and love is shown in both. The other picture I got a glance of before we sat down for our coffee, was a picture of Alexs parents. His dads arms was around his moms waist.
We sat down for coffee and talked a bit about life and work. The worst I really liked her and I could see that my friends did too.
Hurry steps, were heard and a little girl entered the room, she looked exactly like Ana in her childhood with one difference, her green eyes. My heart ripped into pieces when I saw those beautiful face full of tears. Ana stood up immediately ad opened her arms. Her daughter, I assumed, fell into the hug. Ana whispered something to the little girl.
"Timothee took my backpack" she hiccuped and continued "he took the picture of you and daddy and threw it on the floor" her crying intensified again "It broke!"
"Did you pick up the glass?"
"No! But the kindergarten teacher put them in a bag for me."
"It's okay, we can get another frame."
"But it was daddy's frame!" The girl cried harder. I couldn't relate to her. I would have never cried this much if my dads picture frame broke. Her connection to her father must be really special. My mind went directions, trying to find an explanation for an outburst for a frame. Like her dad could buy her a new one. Unless he was dead. That must be it. The kindergarten teacher wouldn't have put the broken glass pieces into a bag, if the dad was still in the picture. At that thought, my heart ached for the loss of this little girl.
"We could burn or glue them together" I earned a puzzled look from everyone but it must have soothed the girl, which made me feel better. I explained my idea and we put the pieces of the glassed frame together again. Then Ana got a glass for the picture and the little girl named Lucy was giving Stella the picture so she could put it in the frame while I helped Ana clean up. When Stella saw the picture she stilled.
"That's your daddy?" Lucy nodded. Stella looked at me. Now Bridgit and Jules looked over Stellas shoulder to see the picture and their eyes grew in shock. "Your dad is Alex Volkov?" My heart broke. This couldn't be. This was not true. Ana stilled in her movement. No, no, no. No! I slowly went to the girls direction to look at the picture in Stellas hand. A young Alex and Ana were shown in the picture. His head rested in her neck and his arms were around her. Her hand was holding a heartformed-necklace around her neck. Both were smiling. Ana looked into the camera and Alex looked at her. Through this picture I could see the love in his eyes. He must have loved her so much. And he had a daughter with his first love. Did he know? You think he would leave his child with no contact? On one hand I could imagine him doing it, on the other hand I couldn't believe that he would do that if he knew how much this little girl adored him. I wish he knew. Even if it meant, he'd break up with you or your wedding would get delayed? He loves me, I know that. And he deserves to know. But he would have to be in contact contact with Ana, can you handle that? He can never find out.
