Chapter Twenty One-Victoria

Sitting on the beach, I stare at the ocean, feeling lost and confused. My heart is in my throat. It has been since 3 o'clock this morning. I actually haven't even slept since Solomon told me we should end things. My fun island fling has turned into growing feelings but it's obviously one-sided. There is no way I would've cut Solomon off. No way I would've ended what I thought was growing between us.

I had every intention of talking to him...I wanted to know if he was as interested in continuing to see me, as I was him. Honestly, the connection between us seemed crazy strong to me but...I suppose I was just someone he wanted to have hot sex with.

"Victoria?"

I look up to see Susanna. Great...I am truly NOT in the mood to deal with her shit. I really need to be alone with my thoughts.

"Hi Sus...how are you?"

She drops into a chaise next to me, "Are you alright Victoria?"

Glancing at her and then back out over the water, "I've had a wonderful time, but I think I'm ready to go home now. I'm tired and...just..."

She extends her hand, laying it lightly on my arm, "Victoria honey, I hope that boy didn't hurt you. He seems like such a playboy," she pauses, giving me a little tsk tsk. "Besides, you are so much better than him. I can't even imagine what he could do for you anyway. What did you even see in him?" She throws out a phony chuckle, "Other than a little fun?"

And I'm furious with her all over again.  Oh my God, is she serious? What the hell does that even mean? A little fun?

"Susanna, for the last time, he is not a boy, he is a grown man, and I am a grown woman who can take care of herself. Please...just stop and mind your own damn business!"

Standing up, I pick up my things, turning to walk as far away from her, but I stop, spin back around and explode.

"And fun? You're damn right I had fun. Solomon just so happens to be the most interesting and down to earth man that I've ever met Susanna.  And he sure as hell knows what to do with his dick and his tongue. So a little fun...nope! That's not at all what I had. You know what I had Susanna? I had the time of my life."

Spinning back on my heel, I stomp as fast and as hard as the sand will allow, trying to get away before tears begin to flow.  I don't care if I never see or hear from that meddling uppity bitch ever again. Clearly, she's not the friend I thought she was.

In a rush to get away, I slam into a person's chest. "Oh my god I'm so sorry!"

Looking up my eyes land on Solomon and he's not alone...he's with the cutie from the hotel that's been trying to get in his pants since we got here.

I'm at a loss for words so I swing around and run in the opposite direction. I can hear my name, but I just make it into the elevator as the doors are closing.

"Victoria!!!"

Oh my God...so he stopped seeing me and now he's seeing her?

Well of course he is.

Shit. I can't stay here a minute longer. I sure as hell can't keep running into him for the next couple of days. Grabbing the phone, I dial the hotel concierge to see if can get the next flight out. Pulling my bags from the closet, I start throwing my stuff in. I could care less about wrinkling or messing up anything, I just need to get out of here. I need to go home.

Pulling on a pair of jeans, a tee-shirt and sneakers, I'm ready to go. Saying a silent prayer that I don't run into anyone; I make my way down to the lobby. The concierge is waiting for me and gives me my flight information. Reaching the car, the driver tosses my bags in and closes the door for me just in time.

Solomon appears at the lobby door with a perplexed look as we pull off.
