Chapter Thirty Three - Victoria
Listening to the steady strum of his heartbeat, I'm still so breathless. I can't seem to calm my breathing. But even as amazing as that just was, I can't help but still feel a little anxious. What does any of this mean? We just had amazing mind-blowing sex, but does Solomon even want this? Did I convince him that we can be together?
I slide my eyes up to see him sleeping peacefully. Looking at him always does something to me. This man is the epitome of beautiful and the fact that he wants me sends my emotions into overdrive. Solomon is unlike anyone I've ever met and when we're together, it's like no one else exists. There's just one little problem, he wants me, but he doesn't think he's good enough to have me. I'm not sure what to say or do to convince him otherwise but I have to figure it out because I sure as hell want him. My brain swirls and slowly sleep finds me, so I'll think about it...figure out how to make us work, in the morning.
The sun is peeking through my shades and a small smile forms on my lips. I reach over for Solomon, but my hands find nothing but cold sheets. Nerves shoot to my belly, and I jump up, reaching for my robe. I glance around and notice his clothes aren't there. My gut is telling me what I already know but I walk over to the window, hoping deep inside, that my gut is wrong. To my disappointment, the empty driveway tells me that it was right.
Well shit. I thought we would talk this morning...I thought he'd give us a chance. Especially after he told me that woman was just a friend, I thought maybe we would talk about trying to do us. Now I don't know what the hell to do but I want this man and I'm going to do what I have to do to get him to see he should be with me.
"Nicole...good morning. I hope I didn't wake you, but I need your help."
Pulling up in front of the building that houses his business I see his bike, so I'm elated that he's here. Stepping into the elevator, I press his floor. The ride up is making my insides jiggle and the closer I get to the tenth floor, the more anxious I get. I have no idea what I'm about to say but I'm doing this.
Lord I need a drink, but I need Solomon more.
My knees shake as I exit the elevator and my eyes land on a set of massive glass doors with an artfully etched sign that says Richardson and Associates. I have never been this nervous in my life, so much that my hand quivers as I reach to open the door. I'm not sure what type of business Solomon has but the entryway looks extremely important, almost like a law office...so tastefully decorated, filled with dark leather chairs and mahogany tables. A doorbell rings as I make my way in and a guy, who looks to be fourteen, steps from the back.
"Well good morning," he says cheerfully, "what can we do for you today?"
Glancing over his shoulder, hoping to see Solomon, I bring my eyes back to him and clear my throat.
My voice comes out stronger than I actually feel, "Good morning, I was hoping to see Solomon."
He eyes me suspiciously, "I'm sorry but Solomon only sees clients by appointment but I'm sure I can help you."
Sighing, I look him in the eyes and turn on my persuasive charms. "OK, what's your name?"
He smiles back brightly, "Calvin Simpson at your service. How can I help?"
"Well Calvin, what I need, I'm pretty sure that Solomon would not want you to help me with, so if you would be so kind as to let him know that he has an urgent client who would like to see him, I would really appreciate it."
Calvin's face turns red, and he murmurs, "I'll be right back."
The wait takes forever but I don't care. I'll wait until next week...whatever it takes, I will see Solomon.
The back door finally opens and a clearly pissed off Solomon appears.
