Chapter Thirteen - Victoria
Solomon's hand reaches for mine, helping me back on deck. We've snorkeled just about all day but now the boat is sailing around the harbor during dinner. I've heard that Granada has some amazing sunsets, so I can't wait to watch it with him. He takes my towel from me, drying my shoulders and back and then leans down to place a soft kiss on my neck. A soft smile plays across my lips when he says, "I'm excited to watch the sunset with you."
Oooh same beautiful man, same.
He places his hand on the small of my back, leading us to the upper deck to grab our table. We've been on this boat for a few hours and have successfully not run into Susanna, but we're brought to an abrupt halt because, yeah, you guessed it. Greg and Susanna.
"Well, hello you two. How did you both enjoy snorkeling?" Ok so this time there's emphasis on the words two and both. What the hell man? Susanna looks at me with judgement all over her face, as if that question contains more than what she's actually asking.
I internally roll my eyes before glancing up at Solomon and then looking back at her.
"It was fantastic! You should try it Sus, you might like it."
I lean in towards Solomon, as he slides a protective arm around my waist. Susanna notices it all, looking like she's been sucking on lemons all day.
Why am I friends with her again?
Greg chuckles and shakes his head. "Susanna would never."
"I might one day Greg, just not today. You know with the wedding tomorrow; I didn't want to deal with all that saltwater and...well, I just wanted to enjoy the boat."
Solomon throws me some side eye and looks back at Susanna and Greg, "Well if you two will excuse us, we're going to go grab a good spot and enjoy this beautiful sunset."
Susanna is watching us; I already know this, and I can't help but giggle to myself. She hates it that I'm having fun with someone that she doesn't deem worthy of her circle. I also know for a fact that she is dying to ask me about Solomon again, but she probably won't. Actually, she better not.
Solomon pulls a chair out for me and drops down into the seat beside me. Leaning towards him, he drapes his arm around my shoulders, lazily dragging his hand over my upper arm.
I sigh contentedly. "This day has been amazing Solomon. I'm so glad we came."
He looks at me for a few beats, remaining silent, and then looks out across the water. Watching him and wondering what he's thinking, Solomon turns his head back to me, his eyes slowly roaming my face.
"I have loved everything about today Victoria. The boat, the water, the fun," he pauses and then continues, "and especially the company, all of it. So far, this vacation has been a lot more than I expected it to be."
I couldn't agree more. It's definitely turning into more than I anticipated. A slight smile is on his mouth before he leans over, connecting his lips with mine.
After dinner, we continue to chat, enjoying dessert and drinks, a glass of wine for me, scotch and soda for him.
"Since tomorrow's the wedding, I wasn't sure if you wanted to do something together or if you have things to do to get ready?" He looks at me expectantly.
Ok, I'm giddy again! He wants to hang with me.
Shaking my head slowly, "Nope, I don't have a thing, but I was really just thinking of chilling tomorrow. Maybe we can spend the day on the beach. Does that sound ok to you?"
A beautiful smile brightens his face, his hand reaches across the table to touch mine. His fingers lightly gliding across the back, igniting sparks along the way. Solomon leans across the table, getting as close as he can, and responds softly, "That sounds like the perfect day Victoria. And honestly, as long as I get to spend time with you, I don't really care what we do." Lifting my palm to his lips, Solomon places a soft kiss there.
Chills begin to slowly descend down my spine and it has absolutely nothing to do with the evening breeze.
