Chapter Four - Victoria

And to think, I almost didn't come. I was going to call Susanna at the last minute to say I wasn't feeling up to it, but my friends convinced me it would be good to get away. Well damn if they weren't right. Solomon has quickly become a nice surprise this trip. I'm already looking forward to breakfast.

The next morning, drinking coffee on my balcony, I'm having second thoughts. Solomon is so gorgeous but he's also a lot younger than me. Do I really need to bother with him? Damn he's 32 and I've never been with anyone younger than me. I've always been attracted to older men but hell, look where that got me...divorced. But honestly, what have I got to lose? I need to have fun. I deserve it after what that prick in Texas has put me through. Leaving me to marry his 24-year-old assistant, who's young enough to be his daughter and then suing me for half of the research business that I started. Good thing the judge was on my side. All he got was lawyer fees and a young wife who spends his money.

Throwing on my pink string bikini, I add a blue and pink flowery cover up dress, slip on my flip flops and pile my hair on top of my head. I was going to ditch makeup this week, except for the actual wedding, but I've had a change of heart. I'll just swipe on some waterproof mascara, lip gloss and sunscreen, after brushing my teeth. Grabbing my sunglasses and straw bag, I head down to breakfast, anxious to see Solomon.

Walking into the restaurant, I quickly glance around and see Devin and Nicole, sitting with her parents, Devin's mom, and sisters but to my disappointment, no Solomon.

"Good morning everybody." Dropping my bag into a chair, I head to the buffet, and I'm joined by Nicole.

"How's the bride to be doing this morning?" I smile at her. She's so exquisite...she's going to be a beautiful bride.

"I'm feeling really good, just ready to do this! I'm so ready and excited to be Devin's wife." She looks at me with sympathy in her eyes. "But how are you, Victoria? Everything going ok?"

"I'm doing really good Nicole. I think this trip is just what I needed. Thank you so much for inviting me."

And just as I finish, I glance around and there he is. Solomon is seated at our table smiling and talking to Devin's mom but looking directly at me.

Making my way back to the table, I pull out my chair across from him, and I smile as I sit, "Good morning, Solomon, how are you?"

"I'm doing fantastic Victoria. Hope you slept well."

The conversation flows around the table with everyone discussing their plans for the day. Devin and Nicole have wedding details to finalize; Nicole's parents, Susanna and George are hitting the beach along with Devin's mom, Janine. Some of Devin and Nicole's friends are going snorkeling.

Solomon's eyes are on me, watching closely before he asks, "And what's on your agenda today Victoria?"

"I am ready to relax and do nothing so I'm just going to hang by the pool today."

Nicole's girlfriends look at Solomon and invite, actually no...it was more like begging. They beg him to go snorkeling with them. His eyes come back to mine for a few seconds and then looks at them.

"You ladies enjoy, I think I'm just going to hang at the hotel today, maybe hit the pool or the beach." And he looks back at me, with a slight smile and excuses himself from the table.

Oooh...ok..is he planning to hang with me?
