Chapter 3 - First Prince of Clarines

Kiroyuki's POV
'Ugh... I think I died...' My eyes were entirely white and my hand was frozen in place with a pen in hand as I blankly stared out ahead of myself.

"Princess~! You only have a couple of more sentences to write down on that document~! I think you can manage~!" I sweat dropped as Miss Nani showed a forced smile with her brows twitching in tolerance. I annoyingly stared back at her with my deadpan expression.

"Miss Nani.... I think my soul left me...." I slammed my head onto my desk, but shortly  regretted it because my forehead felt a sharp jolt of pain. I lifted my head and rubbed the sore spot on my skull, dropping the pen from my hands. I sighed and stretched my arms and looked at the clock.

"I am impressed princess! You have completed almost all of your paperwork in about an hour and half! This is very new and quite eccentric!" I grew a tic mark and gave a playful glare towards her teasing grin.

"Hey, Miss Nani! I can too focus on my work! Plus I think I should get ready to meet Father and Mother soon. That is after I finish this sentence!" She nodded her head in agreement as I finished the last of my writings. I sighed and lifted myself from the chair with Miss Nani following me out of the office.

As soon as I arrived to my room, Miss Nani and I parted ways. She had to supervise the preparations for the ball tomorrow night. It is going to be a very special night.

I entered my bedroom and exhaled deeply. A small yawn escaped my lips.

I rushed over to my wardrobe and flung it opened. I hastily looked through the dresses and fancy clothes, looking for a certain outfit that I wished to wear. I grabbed a light blue dress and an outer white sleeveless coat with two tied silky strings with cotton balls at the ends. I admired the golden lining on the coat and dress and skipped over to my vanity to fix
my  twin tails. Once I did, I placed in some hair ornaments that looked like sparkling silver flowers and double matching leaf-like ornaments. I grabbed a white ribbon and wrapped it over the tops of my head.

I fitted some white and low heels with golden linings. I quickly looked into the large mirror and saw how dazzling the dress looked. I smiled happily and shot up like a rocket, running down the halls to meet my parents by the gates. Still, I had to be careful of the heels I was wearing despite it being a small height.

"Welcome First Prince of Clarines, Izana Wistaria, to Hyoushou. We welcome you with open arms." My Father and Mother both gave courteous bows and I tried copy the gesture without trying to fall.

"It's an honor to be here in your lovely kingdom of pure white wisdom as we can continue this long age of alliance." Izana charmingly and smoothly said, surprising me which such words.

I straightened my back from the bow and awed at how tall Prince Izana was and how glorious he looked. (This will not be a love triangle with Ryu, Izana, and Kiroyuki! Izana will just be a supporter and brother-like image!) He had sparkling violet-blue eyes with strikingly light blonde hair that dusted over his shoulders. His pale yet milky smooth skin reflected upon his features as the snow around him glowed like twinkling stars in the night sky.

My Father gave me a sly and small eye contact from the corner of his eyes to inform me to speak up. I took a step forward and tried not to stutter and shake with nervousness.

"I, First Princess of Hyoushou, Kiroyuki, would like to invite you, our guest, into our lovely castle." I bowed again but slightly less lower than before. We all walked forth into the castle doors while my Father led us to the throne room to talk in private.

"Well Izana, tell me. How has managing Clarines been doing you these days?" My Father chuckled lightly and Izana and my Father began sharing a casual talk about countries well-beings and such.

"Clarines has indeed improved our knowledge of medicine. We have the most wonderful herbalists full of youth and determination." This actually sparked my attention in this conversation. I stood up more straight and my eyes grew in anticipation to hear more about Clarines' medicine and herbalists.

I believe my Mother knew of my eagerness because she let out an angelic giggle, leading both my Father and Izana's attention toward us.

"..." 'I bet my face was flushed red from this embarrassment! Good job for trying to hold up my pride and cool from a visiting Prince!'

"Sorry for interrupting dear, but it seems like Kiroyuki's interest piped up to Izana's mentioning of the topic of medicine and herbalists." I shifted slightly in my stance and desperately tried covering my red face with my loose and snowy white bangs.

Footsteps were coming towards my direction and I had to look up to see Prince Izana crouching down to my line of sight. I was slightly flustered at first but relaxed once he gave me a warm smile.

"Greetings Princess Kiroyuki. If I may ask, what makes you so interested in the medicine and herbalists of Clarines?" I gathered my courage to speak and looked straight into his violet orbs.

"From what I know, Clarines is one to have a lot of knowledge on herbs and medicine which pipes my interest because it's slightly different than here in Hyoushou. Hyoushou isn't as extreme as Clarines in the medical field, but I want to learn more about medicine to help my country and people from any harm of illness. The cold of the snow and ice can affect a human's health greatly. I'm not that smart or talented in medicine, but I know the basics to try at least- Ah! Sorry! I didn't mean to ramble!" He chuckled heart fully as my parents smiled with glee, hope, and sadness...? But I must have read their expressions wrong with my nervous state.

"You are truly an outstanding princess indeed! If you'd like I could teach you more about the medicines used in Clarines." My eyes lit up with excitement as his thin and small, but kind smile towered over me.

"R-really?!"

"Yes, but in return, I'd like it if you would teach me about a few battle antics. Are you able to do that?"

'Battle antics, like swordsmanship and weapons? I have quite a lot of knowledge on that because I train swordsmanship and archery with Miss Nani.'

"Yes, it would be a pleasure! I actually know how to wield a sword and a lot of archery myself!"

"I'm impressed your majesties. You have such a determined princess who is quite strong willed." My eyes widened as I admired Izana as a hopefully proclaimed brother.

"Izana." My Father stepped forward." I assume that you are exhausted from your journey. We shall talk more at the time of the ball, but for now, warm up and rest. We don't want you to get sick now."

Izana stood up from his crouching state and faced my Father.

"Yes, thank you... Princess Kiroyuki, it would be a pleasure to continue being allies with Hyoushou. Might I also include that I think that if you ever visit Clarines, you would find the herbalists interesting. You can also address me as your older brother. I heard from your Father."

I blushed a bright red in embarrassment and pouted at my parents, but I was actually really happy and couldn't help but smile.
—————

After the greetings and introductions were over with Prince Izana, I had also retired to my chambers for a good night's rest.

'I didn't get to see Miss Nani basically the whole entire day~. Well, I can't wait for tomorrow night's ball! It's Mother's birthday! It's also a celebration for the long lived alliance with Izana and Clarines! Two in one is the best and I have the perfect gift for Mother! I really look forward to tomorrow...' The night soon conquered my vision as my eyelids drooped with exhaustion.
