Pulled Right In

With shivers running down his spine, Jaime didn't like the idea of going into the open field, but he made a promise he intended to keep. He considered the place as a ghost town as the circus tents looked worn down from afar. Jaime had an inkling that he entered an abandoned site that should've been left alone, as the
spirits would have wanted it that way, but it was too late to back out now.

The wind blew the metal swings from side to side, and eerie whistles from the merry-go-round sounded as the horses appeared to be moving without its riders. It gave him the chills, but Jaime kept telling himself it was just his imagination running away again. He was a brave teenager and not a coward who would immediately run away.

Moaning, he started humming to himself to keep him occupied.

I'm doing this for Stephen and Sera, whether I like it or not.

With that in mind, Jaime continued marching forward.

Surprised to see that there wasn't any barbed wire or a fence surrounding the prohibited area, it baffled him. Expecting a security guard or a dog to come out after him, Jaime carefully walked toward the site while he picked up the broken branches on the ground for protection.

Looking to and fro, he waited for a minute or two for some clearing to take place, and motioned for Stephen and Seraphina to follow him.

"Looks like the coast is clear you guys, no one is here. So Stephen, you got your wish - a taste of this old abandoned circus - now let's get out of here as this place gives me the creeps." Jaime whispered. He was already wearing a fur coat, yet the cold wind kept giving him the jitters.

Astonished at the site, Seraphina was about to move towards the merry - go-round when saw a shadowy figure hiding behind one of the tents. It caught her eye and tried to lure her in by smiling widely like the Cheshire Cat.

Facing Stephen, she trembled. "I - I'm going to agree with Jaime, bro. I just saw someone behind that tent!" Seraphina's high pitched voice startled him as she pointed to the House of Mirrors. She trembled in fear as tears started to flow upon her cheeks.

"I got you Sera, Please don't cry." Jaime placed his coat over his step-sister to keep her safe and warm. Even though she was the youngest twin, he trusted her the most, since Stephen was more like his father, happy-go-lucky and wasn't afraid to take a chance when danger lurked around.

"Now, you see what you did Stephen, you made Sera cry! Let's get out of here."

Waving his arms in ignorance, Stephen snickered.

"Aw, you guys are a bunch of sissies! You two have one big imagination! It's just the wind messing around with us. This place is a circus that no one has used for a while. Let's go and have some fun!" Putting his finger upon his chin, Stephen blurted his question out loud " Geez, I wonder why it was abandoned?"

Unbeknownst to him, Stephen had awakened the childlike spirits who have been sleeping for hundreds of years waiting for the perfect person to play with.

Interested in knowing what Seraphina saw, Stephen wandered off to the House of Mirrors.

With a gulp, Jaime didn't have a choice but to follow his step-brother. He wanted to turn around and return to the cabin without the mischievous brat, but knew his mother would scold him for leaving Stephen behind.

Holding Seraphina's hand tightly, the two went inside as well.

The hallway was divided into two, into a maze of some sort, so Jaime immediately knew that they all had to stay together, for he did not like the idea of being separated.

"Hey Stephen! Slow down, we should stay together!"

"I swear Jaime, you sound like Mom everyday! But fine, I'll stay with you two. Now come on and let's explore this place!" the jubilant brother responded.

Stephen entered the Crazy Mirror Maze with his siblings laughing at the funny reflections of himself, not knowing that he was being followed by another shadow.

Jaime and Seraphina walked ahead of their brother, so they did not take heed of this unwordly figure. Thus, the stranger quietly waited for the three to enjoy seeing their reflections in the maze before he would strike.

Each mirror held the siblings' yearnings and desires that lurked deep within their soul. These haunted reflections of themselves were actual ghosts from the past who wanted to steal their living souls as promised by the Grim Reaper.

Looking at a mirror, Stephen saw his reflection as a dwarf. It was here where he saw himself as a fierce warrior who would fight against his family. Pretending he had a sword, he made sudden motions towards the mirror. But since he left that mirror quickly, he did not notice the white apparition that came of of the speculum. That Spirit was about to grab his soul, but was pulled back to his world once Stephen left that specific area.

Next to that mirror, the curious boy saw himself as a chubby person, like the mobsters he used to watch on television. Stephen chuckled as he pulled his suspenders and wanted to show this figure to his siblings in order to spook them out.

"Hey, Jaime and Sera, come over here." Stephen maneuvered his hands as if he were holding a gun towards the mirror.

"Don't I look like dad?"

With a nervous grip upon Jaime's hand, Seraphina took a step right beside Stephen to nod, before she screamed.

Pointing to the man in the hooded black cloak, the Grim Reaper appeared before her.
