FUMING, THE ALPHA King stormed through the door, ignoring the sea of bodies behind the door.
He found the body of Keano thrown carelessly across the floor and the Earl Delta Captain rushed over to check him. Feeling under Keano's nose, he confirmed that he was still alive.
"He was drugged. It's wolfsbane," Samuel stated after identifying the smell in the air.
Darius walked further to the couch where Ophelia sat before he left. He found the half-eaten food that was certainly left by her.
It angered him that they didn't even let her finish eating because Darius could remember how loudly her stomach was growling before he left.
Picking up the plate of eggs among other plates, the Alpha King brought it up to his nose and sniffed it.
Darius growled at his discovery and in one swift movement, the table was flipped over with him panting in anger. But even that wasn't enough to alleviate his ever-rising anger.
"Issue a lockdown on the hotel. No one leaves and no one comes in. In thirty minutes, I want every member of the kitchen staff captured and interrogated.
"They must give me an explanation of how Ophelia was drugged right in this hotel. I want the chef who made this food brought here this instant!" The Alpha King ordered the Earl Deltas who had followed him earlier.
"Yes, Alpha," they bowed and left.
"YOU AREN'T A wolf," Noriel noted."
The giant of a man smirked, sending a chill of fear down Ophelia's back. She was scared to make a noise lest he turned his attention to her. He looked like he could break her in half with just a finger if he wanted to.
"I demand to see your boss," Noriel said, not sounding like he was a tiny bit scared while Ophelia on the other hand, fearfully hid behind him, hoping that his bigger frame would swallow her whole.
"You are in no position to make demands, Beta of the Royal Pack!" the man boomed in a hoarse voice that made Ophelia shiver.
She gripped Noriel's shirt tighter as a whimper escaped her lips.
Ophelia had never been a person who was easily scared to the point of visibly shaking but at that moment, she could only hope that her shaking doesn't send her into cardiac arrest.
"Aww, is the little Luna scared?" the man asked, causing her grip on Noriel's shirt to tighten.
"Take your eyes off her or I will claw them out!" Noriel warned. "Since you won't let me see your boss, then tell me what your boss wants!"
"The boss' demands have been made to your Alpha but it seems that your Alpha is a bit reluctant to cooperate.
He wants to sees his mate so my boss wants to input pressure," the man said and suddenly, Ophelia heard the cocking of guns.
She felt her heart drop down to her stomach and her blood run cold.
She was going to die!
She was going to die without even getting the chance to enjoy the good life she would've had with Darius.
Ophelia wouldn't even get the chance to tell Darius that she was quickly falling in love with him.
"Step forward, little Luna-" the man began to say but was harshly cut off by Noriel.
"She will not move!"
The man chuckled but his voice was anything but amused. "I'll ask one last time. Come, or these guns will be emptied into his body. Mind you, they contain silver bullets."
"Stay behind me, Luna!" Noriel instructed her.
Not that Ophelia was planning to come out in the first place but she could not stay back and watch him die because of her. Darius had told her what silver did to them.
Suddenly, a gunshot had her scrambling out of her hiding place at the same moment that Noriel dropped to the ground on one knee.
Ophelia gasped when she saw a hole in his thigh, right above his knee. To her surprise, he didn't scream in pain like she knew she would. He only let out a grunt as he struggled to get back to his feet.
"There you are," the man said to Ophelia, giving her a creepy grin.
"Please come back to my side, Luna," Noriel pleaded as he finally got back to his feet.
"Unless you want a hole in his second leg, you will stay where you are," the man warned seriously.
Ophelia stood still, afraid to take another step.
Noriel tried to go close to her but the man pointed his gun at Ophelia in warning, while the rest of his men kept theirs on Noriel. All but the one who held a phone in his hand and was recording everything.
"Leave her out of this! Whatever it is that you want, the Alpha would give it to you. You don't have to do this!" Noriel said desperately.
Despite her fear, Ophelia felt her eyes water slightly at the display of care and protectiveness shown before her eyes.
Even though there were three guns pointed at Noriel, his concerned eyes were on her. He didn't care about himself but only about keeping her safe.
"Don't fret, dear Beta. My boss always keeps his end of the bargain. The Little Luna will be safe. However, I can't say the same about the other one," The man said and Ophelia turned to Noriel in worry.
On seeing the concerned look on her face, he sent her a reassuring nod. Noriel seemed to have resigned to the fact that he might not make it, but Ophelia wouldn't be able to live with herself if he lost his life while she lived.
"C-Can you please let Noriel go, too?" Ophelia asked in a low voice with her eyes not leaving the ground in fear that she would pass out if she spoke directly to him.
"Awww," he cooed at her and Ophelia bit her lips worriedly. "Don't worry your pretty little head about your Beta. He will survive. However, the future Alpha Prince or Princess isn't."
Raising her head, Ophelia frowned in confusion.
"What do you mean?"
He glanced at her stomach then looked up with a smirk playing on his lips.
"One of the wolves who took you from the hotel told me something rather interesting.
"I believe Alpha Darius has no idea that his mate is expecting a child. Because if he did, I'm sure he wouldn't have let you stay in the hotel all by yourself with only four guards. That little ignorance has cost him the life of his child."
With that said, the huge man, along with the other men, left the room, and once again Ophelia and Noriel were alone.
"Are you okay, Luna?" Noriel asked, limping closer to Ophelia.
"Is it true?" she asked, ignoring his own question as her eyes desperately searched for the truth.
A nod from Noriel sent her whole world crashing down.
