"HOW LONG HAVE I been out?" The Alpha King asked, going back into his room with the Earl Delta Captain walking in after him.
"Two days. Like I said before, you had the other Earl Deltas and I worried because neither one of us could feel you."
"Two days?" Darius exclaimed, stunned by the news.
With his eyebrows scrunched, his mind drifted to the fact that he might have lost the lead on his mate. That and the fact that there were just ten days left until his birthday.
"Yes, Alpha, but we are all ready. If you are up for it now, we can continue the search," Samuel suggested.
Without responding, the King walked out of his room, with the Captain trailing behind him.
Feeling the presence of their Alpha, the other Earl Deltas joined them on the way, but because Darius didn't want to scare his mate off with so much testosterone, he made them go back.
"Quick question, who changed me?" Darius asked all of a sudden, not reducing his powerful strides.
Samuel's eyes widened. "It was I, Alpha."
The Alpha King shot him a side glance. "Was this really the best you could find?"
"Yes, Alpha, I'm truly sorry."
Darius sighed. He couldn't believe his mate was going to see him for the first time in those clothes.
Right then and there, without any warning, a faint scent of wild berries hit his nose, and his mate senses went off like a blaring alarm. Darius immediately knew then, that his mate was close. His wolf confirmed it, once it began purring in his mind.
Without realising it, his legs carried him over to the hotel's reception area, where the scent became stronger, but it was a lingering scent.
She had been there but had left.
The blonde woman at the front desk noticed him and her eyes widened as she stared at him in awe.
"Good morning, Sir," she greeted with a flirty smile. "How may I be of assistance to you?"
Samuel scoffed, and she glared at him. Darius looked at the name tag.
"Monica, right?" He asked and she nodded.
"I am looking for someone," Darius stated, plastering a fake smile on his face.
"Give me the name, and I will make sure all your needs are met," she purred, leaning over the counter so her cleavage was more pronounced.
The Alpha King's lips curled in disgust as he registered the double meaning of her words but quickly planted the smile back on his face.
"I am looking for the other receptionist," Darius stated hesitantly, hoping that she would point him in the right direction.
Monica frowned immediately and leaned back. "She stepped out to get something. She should have been back by now."
No sooner had she said that, the double doors opened. Darius gasped as the scent hit him in full force. His senses began to go on an override.
His wolf howled in his mind as goosebumps began to break out all over his skin. The first thing he saw was a pair of sky-blue eyes staring directly at him.
Darius' breath hitched as she began walking toward him. His eyes travelled from her eyes to her face. His jaw dropped as he took in her face.
For a split second, his eyes drifted to her red pouty lips, but he quickly pulled his eyes away as he imagined locking his lips with them.
His gaze travelled to her slender neck and forced himself to tear his eyes away. His fangs throbbed at the thought of sinking them into her neck and marking her as his.
He cleared his throat and took his gaze back to her face to try and rid himself of sinful thoughts. She was so beautiful, the most beautiful being he had ever laid his eyes on.
The Alpha King was so close to snatching his mate into his arms and bringing her back with him to his kingdom, where he would keep her away from the eyes of other men forever.
He couldn't fathom the thought of another man with his mate. She was his as much as he was hers alone.
The mate he had been waiting almost a century for, was right in front of him. She was truly worth the wait, and he couldn't be more thankful.
A nudge from the Earl Delta Captain brought him out of his blatant staring. Darius looked up to see that his mate had come to a halt in front of him.
"Are you lost, Sir?" An angelic voice asked, and Darius almost drifted to sleep at the sound. He could listen to that all day long.
She looked confused then a flash of realisation appeared on her face.
"Cameron didn't mention they will be filming a movie today. But, Sir, it seems like you walked into the wrong cast. There are no cameras here at the reception area."
"Movie?" He asked in confusion then the name flashed in his mind.
"Who is Cameron?" He growled, his eyes flashing from gold to green as his wolf fought to the surface.
A thousand questions flashed in his head.
Was he too late?
Was she already with someone?
Darius had never killed an innocent person before but he suddenly had the urge to take out whosoever this Cameron was.
His mate's gasp brought him back to reality and as he looked at her astonished face, his anger quickly went away.
"Wow, I didn't know contacts like yours existed. Where did you get it?" She asked in awe.
"Who is Cameron?" He growled again.
His mate looked confused. "The hotel manager. Wait, aren't you here for the movie?"
"I... uhh," the Alpha King stuttered, unable to form a coherent statement as he stared at her, still unable to believe that she was there in front of him.
He pinched himself hard and winced at the feeling.
"Do you want me to call someone?" She asked, looking at him in concern and his heart soared.
His mate was concerned about him and Darius could feel his wolf dancing in glee.
Suddenly, her eyes shortly veered to his feet, and when she brought them back up, a frown was sported on her lips.
"Someone?" He muttered dumbly, causing the Earl Delta Captain to laugh. That made Darius glare at him before turning back to his mate.
"Yeah, you look like you need help," she said, her eyes veering to his feet again.
He was curious about what was making his mate frown. He followed her gaze and was shocked to see that he was barefoot.
He turned to glare at the guilty Captain who began looking anywhere but at him.
