I stayed silent in the office room until someone came barging in. Glaring, I looked up through my hair.
"Elle, is it?" The guy asked. I recognized his scent from a nearby pack that was Halfmoon's aly. What was he doing here in Reddawn's pack?
"Yes?" I muttered.
"I'm Elijah, the beta of this pack. Alpha Baine sent me to come and fetch you," He announced. He had short brown hair with dazzling blue eyes. There was no denying that he was attractive.
[Not as attractive as our mate] my wolf suddenly chimed.
[Yeah, well hopefully not as douchey either] I retort.
"Oh did he?" I asked, standing up again. He nodded, his eyes seeming true. He seemed like a good person. I had this thing where I could always tell if others were lying. I liked to call it a super power, but that just sounds dumb.
"Yes," He replied.
"What are you, his messenger dog?" I jaunt. He let out a chuckle before glancing at the ground and walking over. His eyes scan me, and I scan him.
"No, but I'm one hell of a fighter. And believe it or not, I will end up fighting you if you don't come along like a good little girl," He said with a smile. I rolled my eyes and huffed in annoyance.
"What the fuck ever."

"You're kidding me right?" I asked flatly. Elijah had drove us to a huge gym only used by our kind, and clearly - only this pack. I couldn't sense anyone else. Speaking of which, where was my brother, Sara and the others who survived?
I was now standing with a smirking Baine while he watched members sparring from all around. It was horrifying. I had never trained before, and though I never did I could tell this wasn't how it was normally done. They were so fast, and hit so hard. My eyes were focused on two men who were jaunting each other and smiling, sweat streaming down their faces and necks. They were wearing basketball shorts and loose tank tops. They soon began to punch and kick and wrestle, and it was as though the punches or kicks or fancy shmancy Bruce Lee moves didn't harm them at all.
They were here, fighting and nearly killing each other for practice and funzies, while my pack is getting obliterated without choice?
There were small areas that seemed like boxing arenas scattered around the gym with other members sparring - or rather fighting to the death!
"Oh I'm not," He replied, crossing his arms. I saw Elijah frown as he watched two teens spar. My eyes followed his gaze. There was a girl and a boy, about my age. The girl was clearly struggling as the guy strangled her. Bewildered, my instinct kicked in.
I hastily ran to the second boxing sqaure to the girl and boy. She was gurgling under his merciless arms, sputtering and coughing. She was going to die! Did no one see that?! Her face was turning purple and her eyes went wide.
"Hey!" I called, coming to the edge, but the blonde head of hair never stopped to look at me.
"Stop!" I called. He sent a quick glance at me before he pressed harder on the girl, emitting a raspy cough from her as she squirmed under him.
"You asshole, stop it now!" I shouted louder than before. One second and he finally let go of the girl, who took in a large amount of air, forcing it into her lungs.
The guy's eyes narrowed into slits before he got up and walked over to me.
"You stopped my fight," He said with a slow and deep growl.
I gulped as his eyes peirced through my soul.
I turned around to see Baine and Elijah examining me, arms crossed. Great. I was alone on this one.
[They want to know what we can do] My wolf whined. I groaned internally.
[What the heck do we know?] I counter.
"Y-you were going to . . you just . . you didn't stop," I trailed off, aware of the eyes around the large gym now focused on us. The girl sat up and . . . glared at me? Why would she be mad?! I just saved her from this savage beast!
"And you thought you could stop me?" He asked, eyeing me up and down. The gym went eerily silent and I felt my skin prickle.
"I thought I could try," I retort, crossing my arms. He let out a shit eating grin before crossing his buff arms.
"Well then, let's see you try then shall we?" He challenged, leaning on the ropes. Fear trickled down my spine.
[Good going] My wolf groaned, and I agreed with her. What had I gotten myself into?
Looking around, I feel my hands get clammy and tingles fill my stomach - not the good kind.
I quickly grabbed the rope, and pulled myself up. I heard wolf howls and "woo"s from the crowd as I accepted the challenge. I really wish I could learn to keep my mouth shut. The girl with long blonde hair and the angered look left the box and hopped out. Jeeze who shoved a lego up her butt?
I brought myself out of my thoughts when I hear him chuckle.
"Let's see if your skills match your stupidity," He said, raising his arms. Oh god, I never learned any of this. He stepped forward, making me flinch and hide my face with my arms. I heard laughs from the crowd as I realized he hadn't even done anything.
I look like a terrified pup! He began to laugh as he teased me, making steps towards me. I matched his stance, readying my arms.
I looked back to see Baine and Elijah still staring, yet at least Elijah was showing a small and encouraging smile, which I returned.
I turn around last minute to see a flying fist. Adrenaline refuses to kick in and in one second, I'm laying on my stomach, and theres a boombox built in my head. My head pounded and a stinging in my eye made me wince. I heard laughs and cheers.
"Oh c'mon, give me a challenge why don't you?" He asked, and even though I couldn't see him, I knew he was grinning.
"Give up!"
"Get up!"
I heard different chants meant for me. They might have taken all from me; destroying my pack and packmates, but I was going to make them wish they hadn't. And make them wish they hadn't taken us survivors. I was just as strong as any of these jerks!
I placed my hands on the mat, and quickly stood up, although it seemed like my eye was being pulled out and my head was buzzing.
"Oh, got a little fire in you, don't you?" He asked, but I said nothing, just put my hands back up. In one swift movement, he swung his foot, which I luckily saw coming. I ducked, thinking he was just doing a kick, but there was another. He uppercutted my chin, making me jump up with force.
I stumbled backwards, my back hitting the fat ropes. I heard the crowd go wild. I didn't have time to think, for he was coming at me faster than a fat person running for twinky. Thinking fast, I spun to the left and heard him grunt when his fist collided with nothing.
"Clever. But you are weak!" He growled, turning to face me. I realized I was now facing Elijah and Baine. Elijah was sending wary glances to Baine, but his focus was on me. Was he really not going to help me? His mate? He's ok with me getting hurt? I tremble as I feel blood drip onto my lips. I quickly wipe it.
I had to find out what I was up against. I was faster and more agile while strength and brawn was on his side. If I could just get him on his feet, I'd have enough time to . . . enough time to what? What would I do then? My eyes frantically search the room to see someone sipping on a slurpy.
A thought sparks through me. Oh dear God let this work.
Again, he comes for me with a good amount of speed. I quickly drop to all fours, hearing him slid to avoid falling into me. I grab his leg and pull, but it's still not enough to move this mammoth! So, I do the only think I can think of.
I open my jaws and bite down on his ankle, causing him to shout and fall onto his butt. Perfect.
Getting up, I gather my speed and quickly jump out of the ring, the crowd cheering and jaunting us to fight on. I see a girl drinking her slurpy, and the sound of the guy's footsteps are near. With speed, I take the drink from the girl who simply stares at me, turn, and thrust it forward, closing my eyes.
...
I open them, stunned I'm still alive and not hurting more than I was. His face is sopping wet with red slushie and he seems astonished. The crowd is breaking out in laughter and cheers and claps. A part of me is terrified he's going to up and shoot me, and a part feels proud that they are cheering for me.
"I'm gonna-" He growled with outstretched hands.
"Enough."
We turn to see Baine with his arms crossed.
"Everyone, go back to what you were doing. Reese, you too. Or at least get cleaned up," Elijah announces. The guy . . Reese seems furious.
"Oh," Baine began to add,"and while you shower, just remind yourself that a girl - younger than you with no experience outwitted you," He said bitterly. Reese kept his mouth shut, turned away, and walked towards the door. My hands are shaky and my face is hurting like crazy.
"Not bad," Elijah says as he walks to me, but Baine doesn't approach - just observes.
"Right? I'm excited to see my face," I say with a dry laugh.
"Oh that will be a sight. Anyways, I must say I'm surprised. You have no strength really, but you did take some good hits. And you used your resources. I can say I'm impressed. I'll have our pack doctors check you out. Come along Elle," He said before walking towards the door. I follow but stop to glance back at Baine. His eyes are deep and I know he's thinking, but of what? I don't think I'll ever find out . . .
Thoughts anyone? Vote perhaps?
